As a topper, this one is somewhere in between a plush soft & medium soft feel that conforms to you nicely. 3 inches is just the right thickness to add some depth and cradle to your bed without losing support. It fit perfectly over our King. There's some smell that takes a few days to dissipate but it's not overly offensive and goes away eventually. Can't comment on the durability yet as we've only had it a few days, but at this price point, even two years or so will be money well spent. The "cooling" feature of the topper is barely noticeable (as it is in 99% of "cooling" mattress toppers). Unless you're willing to pay $400+ for a premium option, don't expect any significant results in this department. Phase change materials aren't cheap, and they're tricky to manufacture with. You're not getting that from a sub-$100 topper.

I have bought it to put over a camping inflatable mattress. Both to protect the mattress and to provide some breatability. I have used my mouth to suck air through it and some air can pass. July is hot and PVC inflatable mattress will get you damp with your own sweat if you do not add something. We were drier with this one in july than we were with another one in colder september. Good mattress topper.

Like so many other reviews my new memory foam mattress did not live up to the previous ones and was hard as a rock. Break in period my patootie. I didn't think two inches would do it but it has. No more pain and achy spots. I couldn't wait for new foam stink to go away and threw it on immediately. Smell lasted a week. Not bad. Yeah it's square on the edges... who cares!
