  • EXCELLENT unit.
I extended the hose for the Accessory Port to over six feet long. Still works perfectly well. Unfortunately, an Accessory Hose is not supplied with this unit. I made mine from cutting the tubing from my older, no-longer-functional (i.e., Dead) Foodsaver units; at least two bought from Costco, one (two?) from Amazon, over the years. I used connectors (and the also supplied hose section) from the following Amazon offering, this Mason jar sealing kit: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BD4K6PJ8?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1 to patch my long, custom Accessory Hose together with. The Mason jar sealing function of which, I also highly Recommend for use with this unit; even though the Amazon product page describes it as ‘for FoodSaver Vacuum Sealer‘. I assure you, it works just fine with this Weston unit. I’d imagine hose similar/identical to this/these should be readily available – both locally, and via Amazon; but have not researched it. I’ve been sealing Mason jars of many sizes for several decades. No problems; ever. And its a GREAT use for a vacuum sealer. One reason I chose this model (other than budget) WAS the Sealing Port function; accessed via it’s right side. I just wish that sealing canisters for use with such sealers were more widely available, had a wider range of offerings, and weren’t so cursed expensive. About half the multiple types of Foodsaver canisters I have won’t retain vacuum. You can still buy them off of e-bay, but I don’t recommend doing so. You may easily wind up with a unit that won’t hold vac; from MY experince with Foodsaver brand canisters, anyway. A further note on Mason jar sealing: stick with Ball and Kerr brands of jars. They hold truer to the original Mason jar mfgr'ing specs. I’ve learned the hard way that many jars (of all of the several off-brand Chinese ones I’ve tried, anyway) often won’t seal; the problem being the proper fit (or lack of) between the adaptor and the curve of the shoulder of the Chinese-made Mason jars. Some, worse than others. Some brands worse than others. But I’ve rarely ever encountered any problem using the above two brands. So, anymore, I limit my purchases of Mason jars strictly to ONLY Kerr and Ball brands. I’ve only had this unit a few months, but use it daily; and really can’t find much of anything – AT ALL - to seriously complain about. Despite several customers commenting how fast the unit is… I find it’s Accessory Port functioning to be no better/faster than any of my other past sealers have been, over the years. Several (at least three) Foodsaver brand units; which kept wearing out/breaking. EACH, all to soon; and each, at about half the cost of this Weston unit. No doubt, having the same, small diameter Accessory hose… IS the likely culprit. 😊 BTW, also note: the canisters pictured in one of the pics on the Amazon listing of this unit… are NOT included (which actually IS noted, somewhere in the Description). From what I can determine, Weston doesn’t make/offer any vacuum containers, at all. That having been said, for it’s normal, bag sealing function usage… yes, the unit is very fast! As one might expect from the wattage/mfgr’s description of the two-stage, 650 Watt vacuum pump. I also note that Weston offers units with even stronger pumps. IF you’re willing to pay the piper. I expect, both from other reviews, and my own experience, thus far, for this Weston unit to outlast all of the COMBINED lifetimes of the three (four?) Foodsaver units I’ve owned over the decades. The sealing bar works VERY well; producing a wide, uniformly smooth, very solid seal. Every time. The 11” width of the bar is more than adequate for my non-commercial usage. I also like the HP style, detachable power cord. Very professional/heavy duty. Bag dispense/cutting impresses as better than any of my old Foodsaver units, too (the last of which recently died, but, I observe, is still widely available for sale). Operating the black ‘sealing chamber door’ was initially a bit confusing for me, until I got the hang of it. Paying more detailed attention to the unit’s Operating Instructions… would have profited me well, in this case. 😊 Volume of the unit, while operating, is about the same as my other past sealers. Volume of the fan in the unit IS noticeable; but I don’t find it parrticularly objectionably loud. It also times out under light usage. So... if I forget to turn off the unit… shortly… I no longer have the fan noise in the background. All in all… HIGHLY Recommended!! ... show more

  • Overpriced and no support from Weston
I purchased this sealer in 2019 as a replacement for a much less expensive Ziplock brand vacuum sealer and this machine has been a series of shocking disappointments. The first year the sealer worked very well without issues sealing several butchered whitetail deer, a whole pig, and a multitude of vegetable and fruit packages. Year two the sealer began to have trouble sealing packages and I replaced the heat strip. This resolved the issue but did not make sense for 1 year of work to cause the strip to fail. By the end of year 2 the vacuum was not completing the auto cycle and seemed to struggle with getting all the way vacuumed. I replaced the foam strips and this did not help the issue. Weston support did not have any other support for the issue than replacing the strip. I cleaned the unit thoroughly and it seemed to work well for the start of the 3rd year, but by the fall the vacuum cycle no longer completed and I had to manually seal every single package. I reached out to Weston to order replacement parts and they explained they do not sell replacement parts for the pump and controls, but offered a discount on a new sealer. For the considerable price difference compared to the Food Saver and Ziplock sealers, I expected to at least be able to replace components at my own cost once out of warranty. That is not the case with Weston products. They are not reliable and their support is not acceptable as a long term investment in what is advertised as a commerical vacuum sealer. You will be far better off using your money to buy 3 Ziplock sealers for the same amount as the Weston and they will last longer and function far superior to this product. ... show more

  • It Works!
After buying the old standard “food saver” this last time it was three in one week to be exact as not a one of them worked even as I purchased a more expensive one each time I returned the nonworking unit, I just wanted to seal my meat for freezing, that’s not to much to ask of a food sealer. My husband heard my frustration and started a search “Weston Pro 1100 Stainless Steel” to the rescue. The machine has some serious power with what I call a two step vacuum setting, Weston calls it a “double piston vacuum pump”. Classy! It pulls the air out then does a sort of kick down setting that holds the vacuum while making a Beautiful wide seal in a very short time. The cover has a pressure lock that you push down on. I found that one hand can hold the bag and push down on one side then the other to keep it straight. When done it gently releases the lock. It also has a feature that allows a controlled pump I use for grated cheese so it doesn’t squish it all into one lump. So while much more powerful in a much quieter way than the old thing we had it’s also gentle on what ever your vacuum sealing. There’s so much more it can do and I’ll find out as I go but I am Absolutely pleased with what its basic use is and the rest will be gravy. The cost is not upper crust but it’s an investment and when you think about every few years replacing the Saver and get interrupted in processing your food it’s comparable. The outward appearance doesn’t matter if it doesn’t work, it’s the inward heart or working of the machine that important. This machine has heart, it’s all under clean stainless steel on the outside, a powerful pump, it’s fast, low noise factor and variety in what it can do, it’s sturdy and easy cleanup. We also purchased the ready made bags. It has a great spot on the back to hold a roll to make your own bags. Maybe it’s age but the cost of premade bags is about the same as making them. There’s even bigger units if you need them. I’m very pleased. ... show more

  • it is good and meets expectations
Works exactly as expected. It pulls the air out and seals the bags. Very well built and feels solid. For the price, it is what I expect. So, it is good and meets expectations.
