Only thing I would do is get you high heat resistant heat chalk (you gave to order ahead of time at box stores, they do not carry in stores) and seal the corners that have some spread to keep the bugs out.

This has definitely been a good improvement to our main entrance way. So far, we've received two compliments on this new fixture (although admittedly it replaced an ancient vaguelly oriental style globe fixture thingy that was partially melted and full of cobwebs so… yeah, it has to be better, right?) Installation was somewhat difficult (as outlined in other reviews) due to the awkwardness of working on the ceiling while attempting to hook up the fixture to the electrical lines up there. Suggestion if you're only doing this with one pair of hands: get a ladder or other platform that you can position near the ceiling to put the fixture on while hooking it up to the wiring. On balance, we feel that this was a good purchase and recommend it to those who are handy or have good handyman services available to install. One last thing… Other reviewers mentioned that the bottom cover plate can easily crack. We thank those reviewers for pointing this out. We put two 3/4" hose coupling gaskets between the bottom plate framed glass part and the inner seat to prevent too much stress on the bottom frame glass. We were also careful to not torque down the center cap too hard as well. It took a little more effort to make sure those gaskets were in place during install but is obviously worth being a bit careful with the framed glass. ... show more

This is a great looking porch lamp! However..... The review by Tim A. on 9/7/2020 is spot on! The installation directions provided with the light are useless. Please print Tim's review and follow the steps he outlines. This will make the installation much easier. We needed a ceiling mounted light for our porch upgrade and the available options are limited (both in stores and online). This light has a clean look and provides great lighting coverage.
