  • Easy Upgrade
Capacity: 1TB
Well, upgrading my SSD turned out to be a breeze. My Dell 7040 came with a 256GB nvme drive on the motherboard and was at 232GB full. So, purchased this 1TB WD Green Drive to use as my boot drive on the motherboard's sole m2 socket, downloaded and installed the wd dashboard software and acronis from WDs site, installed the green drive into a pciex16 socket using the mx16 adapter, formatted the green drive, used acronis to clone my almost full c drive to the Green Drive, then physically swapped the green drive with the original drive. Computer booted right up from the new Green Drive. I went with the Green Drive for a couple of reasons, they say it uses less power than the others, meaning it runs cooler, so hoping I don't even need a heatsink as the old oem drive didn't use one, and it already hits the max data transfer speeds given I have a Gen 3 motherboard, so a Black or Evo would have been overkill. Edit: Why didn't I just take the easy route, leave the boot drive alone and just add the Green Drive via the PCIe Slot, sparing the hassle of cloning and swapping? The new 1TB green drive is so much faster than the 256gb oem m.2 drive, using the Green Drive to boot up Windows, I no longer even see the Dell Logo or the rotating circle on boot up, straight to the welcome screen! That's a very noticeable difference between an m.2 SATA and gen 3 drive! Oh, I even ran the old Windows Experience Index, and it improved all my scores up to 9.0 except desktop graphics of course, it got an 8.3, thanks Microsoft. ... show more

  • WD SSD easy to install and works out of the box - No heat shield
Capacity: 1TB
I installed this within minutes and it was instantly recognized by the BIOS.. It does get quite hot so I ordered a heat sync to put over the top of it to keep my laptop cooler. I am sure it would be less of a problem in a tower environment than the tight space in a laptop. If you buy this for a laptop get a heat sync if your board does not already have one! They are not that expensive and will save you from oveheating the drive and the laptops components. ... show more

  • Cheap NVME drive good for external use
Capacity: 2TB
I use this for an external enclosure that caps out around 1200 mbps sequential read over USB 3.2. Thats twice as fast as an internal SATA SSD but nowhere near the capability of PCIE 4 M.2 drives. This was cheap and had solid capacity and runs my external enclosure at around 800 mbps sequential read, more or less capping it out. I've had no issues with load times on this drive as of yet. I'm docking this a star because it is a gen 3 drive, and it won't be able to utilize the full bandwidth of a gen 4 slot if that is what you are aiming for. This is definitely a slower drive then some other m.2 drives, but for my use case it is more then siffucient. ... show more

  • Great speed and upgrade for an old Asus Zenbook laptop - noticeable speed difference
Capacity: 1TB
Great speed and upgrade for an old Asus Zenbook UX501VW laptop - noticeable speed difference in booting up Windows and all my programs starting up. The original 512gb wasn't cutting it anymore especially for development when using VMs/emulators.

  • Good SSD for little $$$
Capacity: 1TB
I bought this hardware because Smart TVs are junk. This was for an HTPC so no gaming, but has fast boot times and does just fine, and most of all I just had to install it, no BSODs to deal with either.

  • Just what I needed
Capacity: 1TB
I'm using this drive in a usb drive and the full potential is realized. It will serve as a good backup drive and can easily slip into an m.2 slot if needed. Backup is for games, some apps and music stored on my PC.
