This thing just works. I installed it the same day I got it, after using my pc gaming for a while, and I noticed an immediate difference. Before installation, my 13900k was getting 65-80 degrees in the gaming session. That’s with undervolting and disabling E Cores! In the same day ,just hours later I was getting 57-70 degrees consistently while gaming, which is what I do most of the time. My idle temps went from 41-50 down to 39-45 degrees. All cooled by a deepcool lt720. The build quality was great and fits my motherboard and cpu perfectly. The installation was simple and took me 20 minutes and that’s with toddlers pulling me away from the installation, so it’s extremely simple. Someone with no distractions could get it done in less time. Just be sure to work in a pattern when tightening the screws. Start top left, bottom right, bottom left, top right and cross from there turning in 90 degree turns slowly until you get resistance. This lowers all corners of the frame evenly to ensure the bracket is level. Watch Gamer Nexus video on the bracket for better installation instructions and how it compares to thermal Grizzly contact frame. Hint, this one’s on par if not better. In short. I see it as a must buy!

What worried me the most was the possibility of bending the motherboard or the processor due to Intel's lever mechanism. After installing this brace from Thermalright the temperature dropped by 4-6°C compared to what is was before (also using the Thermalright Assassin 120 SE air cooler). Not a huge difference now but in the long run it does pay off. I combined it with MX-4 thermal paste, but FYI this kit actually included a tube of thermalright TF7 thermal compound. The installation process is straightforward if you know what you're doing. It's delicate but not complicated. As long as you don't expose the socket by leaving the processor in place, follow the recommended cross-pattern tightening of the screws, and only tighten them until minimal force is reached, you should be fine. It worked perfectly for me on the first try. --Highly Recommend, Especially Considering the Low Price, ease of installation, and more importantly, peace of mind-- I hope this helps! I'm installing this on an overclocked i7 12700k. Prior to this upgrade, it was very difficult finding the thermal headroom to push this 3.6 ghz processor past 5 ghz without water cooling or other expensive additions. With this, my core temps have dropped a minimum of 8 degrees C under heavy load, which is absolutely massive for a single part. I need to work out some of the voltage issues to maintain stability, but I believe I can probably get my CPU to hit 5.2 ghz without hitting my thermal caps. And even when my computer is not under load, there is a very sizeable difference in how cool the chip runs now. The part is also incredibly easy to install. Extremely low risk, low cost upgrade that will get you some measurable FPS gains for modern gaming. And if all of that isn't enough, the Thermalright BCF will extend the life of your CPU over the stock ILM with the reduced stress bending of your CPU lid. Included is a screenshot of my computer at idle. The max temperatures were hit when Playing Spiderman Miles Morales, which is a fairly CPU intensive modern game on 1440p on high settings.

Getting one for every lga1700 socket I have. The thermal paste is good, the stability helps for oeace of mind (no bent cpu or motherboard), and the temps are a tony bit easier to amange. A big bonus is the ease of re-application for thermal paste.

Installed product and it is working great so far. Upgraded computer system via Prime Day discounts. While I have leaned AMD, I found lots of bang for the buck with an Intel i7-12700K chip (thus LGA 1700 socket) and an Asus Tuf Gaming Z690 mobo. I did lots of research and mainly through Youtube, Gamers Nexus (1.92 M subscribers): "Investigating Intel's CPU Socket Problems" learned why this item is a big improvement over standard mobo solution. Many people may already know this, but I will try to summarize for those who don’t. Original socket doesn’t seem to provide equal pressure to the chip, resulting in lost thermal conductivity and even performance decreases can occur as a result. The video I mentioned provides actual proof of this and is definitely worth watching. There is a more expensive version of this item, and this one is a knock off. Is it the same? Are the die and tolerances exactly the same… I don’t know. Maybe someone more industrious than me can find out. Is it close enough - likely so. You can find videos of people just torquing this down, but I was a little more cautious and followed the instructions in the video above. When inserting screws first go counter clockwise till you feel the screw and threads DROP in place. Use the included allen wrench to apply equal turns to each screw. Just position the extending part like a clock face and do a full turn (or whatever). Lightly screws with allen wrench with thumb and forefinger until you reach mild resistance. The expensive brand then recommends one final quarter turn (90 degrees) from there. Go diagonal to try to achieve equal pressure. Just to be safe I did that, although I have seen some video where people torque them down “nice and tight”. Excessive pressure can also be undesirable. If you’re rich and want Crème de la Crème get the expensive brand. I felt for $8 bucks this would do the job. The Grey was $2 dollars cheaper than the black then, looks great, but I can't see it anyway. Everything is working fine and I feel good about taking these extra precautions just in case. YMMV but happy trails.

My best advice here on this class of product==> "Buy on Price!!!" don't pay a penny more than you should. When I read that the LGA1700 socket CPU were having thermal contact problems with the integrated heat spreader(IHS), I took note. Search YouTube for "fix for Intel Thermal Problems 12th Gen Contact Frame" from Gamers Nexus or search "Fixing Intel's Mistakes..." from JaysTwoCents and you'll see videos describing both the nature of the problem and the reason why this simple fix addresses that. In my case, I was able to measure between a 3°C and 5°C decrease in thermals which is a lot considering that I was using a liquid cooler to begin with. This product is available for a much higher cost with other sellers. Folks.... it's just a block of machined aluminum, nothing to see here. But that's exactly why you shouldn't pay more than what these guys are charging for the product I am reviewing. And if you can get it for less, do so. I could have gotten it for a lot less if I was willing to wait one month for it to come on a slowboat from China but it wasn't worth the wait. Installation was a piece of cake and they not only supplied English instructions but also a small amount of Thermal Paste to go along with it. Everything is in the box that you need. The photo attached was from a MSI Z690 Carbon motherboard in case you were wondering but all LGA1700 socket motherboards have the same Intel keep-out zones so this should fit in any LGA1700 based. Also, don't get caught up in the color, once the heatsink is applied to the CPU, you can't see the frame anyway.

When I built my gaming rig two years ago, I marvelled at how much pressure it took to lock my Intel CPU into place with Intel's interlocking mechanism (ILM.) A few months after that, I started hearing stories of people winding up with bent Intel CPUs or bent pins on the motherboard due to uneven pressure being applied by the ILM. I finally got around to ordering this Thermalright frame, and installed it a couple days ago. It fits over & around the CPU like a glove. So far, so good -- the computer seems to be stable and performing about the same as before, and the operating temps don't appear to have changed, though I didn't buy it for this reason. It wasn't a particularly easy install, your mileage may vary depending on whether your motherboard manufacturer used adhesive to hold an unmounted CPU backplate in place (mine didn't), but it was about as easy as one could hope for. As I'm hoping to get about 10 years of life out of this computer, I saw this Thermalright bracket as a necessary modification to avoid long-term damage to my CPU & board. If you are on the fence about it, I'd say do it, but be sure to give yourself a couple hours to do it properly & without any outside stress/distractions. Also, blow out the dust in your computer (esp around the CPU & cooler) a few days before!
