This paper cutter means business! I usually use it to cut paper that is card-stock weight, and this paper cutter goes through it like soft butter. Very accurate, neat slice, and heavy enough to stay put during the cutting process. (That's why I gave it 4 stars in the "Light Weight" category; it is actually quite heavy, but that's a positive, right?) Grid marks are present to ensure proper measuring and straight cutting lines, and there is a sturdy plastic finger guard. This paper cutter is great. It is very sharp and will not move around when in use. It has a lock for the blade as well. Perfect for what I needed it for.

PROS: * Sharp blade * Safety lock * Plastic ridge below blade, extra safety (see pic) * Perfect size for small jobs (see pic, using with 8.5”x11” paper) * Light enough to carry CONS: * Plastic guard makes it very hard to guate where blade will cut (see pics) * Plastic guard means that you cannot cut smaller items, which I regularly do * Not sure of ease of removing plastic guard (haven’t tried yet) * So-called “wood” is actually some type of MDF fiberboard, with a laminate wood grain top (see pics) ... show more

I love this paper cutter, but it has sliced my hand twice from withdrawing my hand from under the blade area when adjusting alignment. The blade rises very high leaving the sharp knife blade exposed. It really is sharp as a knife. This should never be used by children. The safety shield can be bumped off the cutter. It is needed to hold down the paper. But it would be easy to accidentally remove fingers if they got in the way. Repeat, this uses a sharp blade rather than a squared edge to cut the paper. Carrying it, the safety latch falls down away from the blade. I use a heavy rubber band to secure the latch before moving this cutter. It is not too heavy nor too light. It is a scary device, and much caution should be used. It does make very nice cuts. The guard limits it to 10-15 pages at a time. The accuracy of the back edge is a bit off on both our machines. I use the grid lines as they seem more accurate. ... show more

Let me preface this by saying I have used paper cutters for over 25 years. My last paper cutter was a cheap plastic one that lasted me over 15 years. I was trying to replace that one with this one, but read on to see what a waste of time and money that was.... At first, I thought it was user-error on my part. I use a paper trimmer to cut product labels for my business and I need the labels to be straight. When I finally figured out that it's the BLADE that is crooked, my Amazon return window had passed by two weeks, so I contacted the company directly - but NOT the one listed on Amazon! The website link for the company page on Amazon took me to a completely different company that sells lighting and camera supplies, so I had to do a google search to find the actual company! After contacting the company, they sent me an "upgraded" paper trimmer. The new trimmer had the SAME faulty blade (see pictures)! It bows out in the middle and doesn't cut in a straight line! Not only that, but the measurement lines were incorrect and so when I lined up my paper by the lines on the board, it was cutting one edge too long and the other was too short! So I contacted the company again. I let them know that either their design or manufacturing is faulty, sent them pictures and explained what was going on. I basically got an apology email back saying that they don't have another option for me. I replied to see if I could get a refund and they completely ghosted me. My last email to them was in April 2023 and I haven't heard back from them since. At the time I'm posting this review, it is now August 2023. Do yourself a huge favor and do not buy this! My cheap, plastic trimmer that I've had for over 15 years (and was trying to replace) cuts better than this...and in a straight line! So now I'm out over $60 (because I bought it when it was more $ than it is now) and I have TWO trimmers that I can't use taking up space in my apartment. Not to mention the time, the mental energy and the money lost on the labels that I had to discard because they were crooked. This is ridiculous. ... show more
