Description

Remember when you weren’t bound by a cord? Plane away chips, splinters and misshapen edges with the WEN 20V Max Brushless Cordless Hand Planer. Perfect for fixing stubborn doors and fitting wood, this planer delivers up to 26000 cuts per minute to your workpiece, slicing away any irregularities until the surface of your boards are aligned and smooth. The brushless motor provides more runtime and better performance, and lasts longer with less maintenance than brushed alternatives. With a cutting width of 3-1/4 inches, you’ll have the perfect companion for fitting and squaring boards. A simple turn of the front knob lets you easily adjust cutting depth up to 1/8 inch, with positive stops every 1/128 inch. The base plate shoe even includes a V-shaped groove for even, smooth bevel and chamfer cuts. The included rabbeting guide adjusts anywhere from 0 to 11/16 inches to allow for rabbets up to an inch deep. The parallel fence provides an accurate and straight cut by making sure your passes are directly parallel to the edge of the wood (a must-have for planing door edges, wood trim and boards). The kickstand protects both the blade and the workpiece in between uses by keeping the blade elevated from the surface of your project. The included 4.0 amp-hour lithium-ion battery delivers consistently powerful performance at any level of charge, features an onboard LED charge gauge, and is cross-compatible with the entire WEN 20V Max Cordless Lithium-Ion Power Tool line. Finally, the dust bag collects all of your loose shavings to keep your workspace clean and sawdust-free. And because it’s a WEN Product, your cordless hand planer comes backed by a two-year warranty, a stocked inventory of replacement parts, and a friendly customer help line, all to make sure you remember WEN.

  • Easy to use
Style: Corded Hand Planer
I needed to plane the joists on my newly installed deck. Did some research to find a budget friendly tool. I am extremely pleased with this planer. It was a good price and performed phenomenally.

  • WEN Electric Planer saves you time and money
Style: Corded Hand Planer
I had several sticking doors in my home that needed fixed. I didn't want to spend a fortune for my home use and researched electric planers. I was familiar with the WEN Brand so I gave this one a try as my first electric planer. Similar quality planers were double the price. I used the WEN Planer on several hollow core doors and one heavy thick antique door and was very pleased with the performance. I had never used one before and just followed the directions included and set up the planer to remove a small amount at a time as little as 1/64" or you can adjust it to take off much more. TIP: Start slow and use the low settings 1/64, 1/32" and secure your work. The handle can be set to plane left or right handed as needed. TIP: The planer comes with a bag you can attach to the planer to catch the wood chips which is nice, but fills very quickly. However, I used my 1 gallon shop vac and attached the hose in place of the cloth bag. I would turn on the shop vac and then plane the door until I was finished with the vaccum sucking up the wood chips. I'm very happy with my purchase. It made quick work of my sticking doors and was easy to use and clean up. I saved half what I would have purchasing a local name brand unit. WEN is good quality for the homeowners needs. I would recommend this Wen Electric Planer to a friend. ... show more

  • Great at this price point, but...
Style: Corded Hand Planer
I needed a planer to level a small cheap butcher block countertop I'm making. How cheap? It's made of ripped down 2x4s. This planer honestly did pretty good after a little set up , after which it did a decent job of leveling the panel. The cuts were nice and smooth and even enough once I figured out what I was doing. However, there are several caveats you should be aware of, the first of which is that it required quite a bit of fiddling to level the blades with the rear shoe. Also, while the blades were sharp, they were not perfectly straight but slightly curved so that the edges gouged out more than the middle. If anything planer blades should be curved the other way so that they carve slightly more from the middle than the edges. I could have removed the blades entirely and spent some time leveling them on my diamond plates. I personally don't think that's unreasonable, especially for the amount of money you pay for this thing and I certainly would have done so if not for the final nail in the coffin: The front shoe was not parallel with the rear shoe in either direction which caused a lot of snipe no matter how careful I was. And unfortunately that's something I could not adjust and decided to return this unit. I could just exchange this for another one but I've now learned that I like electric hand planers enough that I want a higher quality one. So in summary, at this price point, this is a really good tool. However, if it were priced much higher it would probably not deserve more than one or two stars. Don't expect a more than a moderate level of precision and be prepared to spend some quality time with it getting it set up and adjusted properly. If all you need is some quick and dirty leveling or something like trimming down some door edges or lumber, this thing would be perfect. ... show more

  • Best $40s you can spend on a planer
Style: Corded Hand Planer
Tile contractor and i've been living w/o a planer for 3 years...I know I needed one but never realized how much I needed one, now I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet on a 20v dewalt...but honestly I'm more than satisfied with this. Still need to learn to use properly but has already saved me hours in labor. Do not know how good it is for woodworking but it works to get my walls flat and that what matters. Give it a try. ... show more

  • Great tool
Style: Corded Hand Planer
I originally ordered the smaller Wen planer but returned it to get this one. I’m very happy with this tool. I hook the bag up to the far side and use my shop vac’s straight tube in the near side dust port. It slides into it. I wrap the tube to the port with aluminum tape so that it’s in far enough to stay there. The tube can still be removed from the port after use and reused with the same aluminum tape. Just squeeze the tape against the tube. Take time to watch “The shipwright’s” YouTube on setting up a Ryobi planer. I notched the blades as he advises when I saw that the blade extending from the edges of the shoes cut a groove in the board I was working on. I used a diamond burr in my rotary tool to cut 45 degree notches at all four corners of each blade. I aligned the blades first by backing off on the hex head set screws till they were flush with the back of the blade housing then turned each 21/2 turns. Then I sighted down the back shoe and adjusted each blade so that it was level. I took his advice and threw away the wrench that came with the planer and used a 5/16 wrench on the blades. I forgot to say that the reason I put the dust bag on the opposite (closed) side is because you still get shavings out that side when in use. Even with that a small amount of shavings still come out that side. I haven’t removed the shoe as the shipwright does nor have I balanced the blades. I have some work to do to get up to speed on this tool. Im gouging the board at the beginning of the cut and am not keeping it square on the edges so I put the fence on the tool. Don’t be too aggressive. The vac tube can be removed from the dust port without having to remove the aluminum tape so if you don’t crimp it, it’s reusable. It also serves as a handle. Enjoy!
