Description

With a 9.5-amp motor and a 13-3/8-inch throat, this beast will attack boards up to 8.85 inches thick and 13-3/8 inches wide. Two-speed operation allows for speeds of either 1420 or 3280 FPM. This saw accepts 100-3/4-inch blades anywhere from 1/8 to 1 inch wide, making both detail work and resawing a breeze. The spacious cast- aluminum work table measures in at 19 x 15-1/4 inches and bevels up to 45 degrees. This package includes a flexible work light to illuminate the worktable, a 3-in-1 dust port to fit a variety of dust collector hoses (1-3/4, 2-3/4, 4 inches), a sawdust collection drawer, a fence for creating perfectly straight cuts, and a miter gauge for angled cuts. The included circle cutting guide helps create perfect circles and curves up to 32 inches in diameter. The upper housing includes a small window for easy access to the blade tension gauge, which makes it easier than ever to adjust blade tension, maximize blade life, and minimize breakage. The easy-to-assemble stand elevates the band saw while still leaving space for storage underneath. Ball-bearing blade guides help keep your blade right on the cut line and prolong its overall lifespan. First of all, I am a beginner hobbyist woodworker and this is my first bandsaw, so take this review for what it’s worth. This bandsaw is definitely a “value” bandsaw geared more toward people like me than the advanced woodworker, but it can be made to work well with some time and effort tuning it up. The guide bearing setup is not well designed or well machined, so prepare for a fair amount of work getting those bearings dialed in to the .3 and .5 mm tolerances specified in the manual. It’s borderline impossible to gauge that by sight where they’re located (for me anyway) and, even if I could, they get thrown off when tightening back down. I ended up getting lucky, but I’m not doing it again without a precise feeler gauge. The wheels were not in alignment out of the box, but that part was a relatively easy to fix with the tension and tracking knobs, for the top anyway. The top wheel and bottom wheel still top don’t track evenly on mine, but I convinced myself that was okay watching a bunch of videos by bandsaw pros. Both are solidly on the wheel. There are no directions on correcting the bottom wheel (or the bottom bearings, but the bottom bearings are worth checking and adjusting if needed - same method as the top). After quite a few hours I was able to slice off the paper thin strip of wood shown in the picture from a basic stock 2x4 that hadn’t even been jointed yet! I was quite pleased with that! If kept tuned up, this thing works well, even with the factory blade. Not too bad, for the moment anyway! ... show more

This bandsaw works really good cuts through hardwood like butter. I use to resaw logs into planks then put them through my thickness planer. It has a large throat opening I do 12 inch diameter logs easily. I am going to get a different fence for it the fence is kind of wonky. Probably a Craig fence. Really like the light on it for when I am cutting. Stand is nice and is the right height for me. The legs could be a little more heavy duty they are a little thin metal. Overall nice saw though. Has nice drawer to help collect the sawdust too. ... show more

I love Wen products, but how is it possible to send your product with a motor that doesn’t work. I determined this with a Wen technician who diagnosed the problem over a 45 minute phone conversation. He was willing to send a new motor, but who was going to put in in??It’s shocking that a big company like Wen doesn’t have regional technicians who can make warranty repairs. Bad customer support…very helpful technicians ... show more

I love this band saw. This table saw cuts so true that I can now make my own veneer with it. I used the supplied blade and ripped a piece of oak into an 18 inch long, 1.17 mil thick sliver that was as close to perfect as you can get. I also tested out the supplied circle cutting jig to cut a 10 inch circle that was pretty close to perfect as well . Puts the other off brand table top band saw I had to complete shame! The one bad thing I can say is that one of the threaded holes for the legs was stripped out so I had to come up with a way to attach but I did manage to get it attached securely. Also, was a royal pain to level out the legs and eventually gave up on it and just shimmed the offending leg as I put it on a portable base anyway. ... show more

I just purchased this saw to replace an old Craftsman that finally gave up (100+ years old). I was leery at first, because I have never had a WEN product and personally I wanted to stay away from products from China. But, that is not possible anymore. All of the bandsaws I reviewed (Delta, Nikon, Jet, etc.) were made in China. American companies, but made in China. I initially wanted a cast iron table, but that jacked the price up more than I wanted to pay. So, the first thing I checked was the flatness of the aluminum table. It was flat. This saw has a lot of the features of the more expensive saws and is very solid. The only reason it did not get 5 stars is the miter gauge. Not sure why they felt like it had to be a T-slot fit, but it is not a good idea. I still need to try and make the gauge slide freely, but have not messed with it much yet. It should have been just your standard slot. I don't use the miter gauge much, so it is not a big deal, but if you are going to go to the trouble to machine a T-Slot and make the mating gauge to slide in it, then it should work smoothly. At least it wasn't like the Delta saw that you have to pay extra for the fence and the miter gauge. This has plenty of power for ripping hardwood and tracks well. I just ordered some thinner blades, because it comes with a 1/2" for ripping. Which is fine, but most of my work is more detailed. Probably because I have never had a saw I could rip with. If this last 100+ years, then my grandkids will be using it :-) ... show more

I have a lot of Wen tools. Most people don’t understand the history of Wen. It’s a long standing company. This bandsaw is big! Heavy duty and easy to set up. I had it up and running in 30 minutes even with a tune up of the blade and guide bearings. I must warn you, it’s over 200lbs and will need some help lifting. The circle jig is amazing and has a leg up on other bandsaws. I chose this unit over the Rikon for 2 reasons; price and circle cutting jig. I’m confident in Wen tools. overall it is a good buy. The engine is silent and powerful, the guides are functional. It has very little vibration. the tape are not good for cutting thick material. I will buy another replacement. If you are looking for fun like me then this is perfect
