Heat up time is pretty good, not to long. Tip changes are very easy. Fits nicely in your hand and the light helps in darkened areas. My only problem with it is that it gets too hot if left on for very long. The solder gets to a point where it oxidizes and doesn't flow well. Bought this to do an installation. Used it to solder 30 wires and it remained fully charged and hot. I did shut it off when I moved locations but it performed very well. The heat up time was fast, too.

I work on arcade, pinball, redemption, and other coin op machines. I love not having to find an open outlet or run an extension cord on location. The temperature control is by changing the tips, which is fine. I just use the included tip and it's working fine for doing one or two quick joints in the field. I don't like the soldering quality as much as my WES-51, but I like the portability and built in battery functionality. Needed a portable/battery powered soldering kit for multiple car-audio installs and wiring up in-home systems. The battery has lasted me months with seldom usage, so there is almost no parasitic drain on the battery. There is no temperature control, only an off and on switch. The included tip is good for most applications, and you can store a roll of solder in the cap for maximum portability.
