  • my cardiologist mentor uses the Welch Allyn (two headed) and highly recommended it. Second
Senior medical student here - had the classic II SE from Littmann. I was debating between the DLX vs Master Cardiology but decided to go with the Welch Allyn for multiple reasons. First, my cardiologist mentor uses the Welch Allyn (two headed) and highly recommended it. Second, I prefer the separate bell and diaphragm from the differential pressure on the Littmann. Coming from the Classic II SE, I can definitely hear the difference in quality. Ive had a chance to compare it to the Master Cardiology (friend's) and the quality is similar - and I didn't notice that one was worse/better - but take it with a grain of salt (as I am still training). Probably would have purchased the two headed DLX, but triple head was cheaper when I was buying it. Some cons: The tubing is slightly longer than I would have preferred It's on the heavier side, and i dont know if I would be able to find a hip holster for this stethoscope (I know, Im a nerd) It's definitely bulky the bell does become loose once in a while and you need to give it a good twist. I can see why some people comments that they lost the bell and needed a replacement ... show more

  • Excellent scope
This is my third Harvey DLX triplehead stethoscope. I am a family doctor in a small town and I see patients of all ages, newborn to geriatric. Pros - you can have a single stethoscope with an adult diaphragm, a pediatric diaphragm, and a bell - the sound is excellent, it is nice and clear and it amplifies well, it is louder than a Littmann Cardio III without all the background noise that plagues the Littmann electronic stethoscopes I have tried - the triplehead design makes it very comfortable to hold while auscultating the patient, my (large) hands fit it just right - price is much lower than most of the electronic scopes as well Cons - It is VERY HEAVY, the heavy head is probably why it amplifies so well though - it looks a little weird - the spring between the binaurals (pieces that go up to your ears) is a weak point, and to replace those costs almost as much as a new stethoscope, this is the problem I had with my previous two stethoscopes, although they do seem to last several years before failing - my first one came with the pediatric diaphragm, but the replacements I have gotten did not, so you may have to buy the pediatric diaphragm yourself, I just keep moving mine from one to the next, they are simple to unscrew and move ... show more

  • Very good sthethoscope
Cardiology fellow. Wanted a good sthethoscope after my electronic littmann gave out (used it for 5 years). The sound quality on this is excellent. The corrugated diaphragm is great for medium to low frequency sounds. The heavy chest piece filters out all unwanted noise- even in a busy ward or ER. Sound quality is actually better than my old electronic litmann (3200) because that sthethoscope picked up a lot of extraneous noise. Ended up buying another one for my Dad too. Drawbacks: heavy (but that’s what makes the sound quality so good). The heads do have a tendency to unscrew by themselves, but I’ve never come close to losing one. Nor has one ever fallen off. The price went up on amazon by about $50 shortly after I bought it. Would consider other sellers. ... show more

  • Perfect.
I use this as an EMT and it's really good at blocking out the noise from the ambulance while we're driving, and it's also better at picking up weaker pulses than other scopes are.

  • Welch Allyn triple head Stethoscope
it will be more nicer if one of the diaphragms is pediatrics size & the other is adult size & the metal used is lighter it is a little bulgy, because of the two big diaphragm, the bell should not skewed it has to be fixed on the support part if Welch Allyn make these changes & use lighter metal this Stethoscope will be the best ever ... show more

  • awesome !!
I love my Tycos very solid very dependable the corrugated diaphragm picks up the lower pitch sounds that the regular diaphragm misses. The fact that it is a little heavy is a downside. But it also makes more stable on application to the surface of the body. I had a lot of people ask me what is it for and why is the extra diaphragm so be prepared for those kind of comments. Overall I love it and I wouldn't do without it form now on. ... show more

  • Not what I expected.
I also needed one of the stethoscope heads to be a pediatric head. Not sure why this is not like the other two 3-headed scopes I have previously purchased.

  • Good value for money
First and foremost excellent acoustics. The triple head draws quite a lot of attention though and is a little heavy. Good value for money.
