I had looked at this trailer hitch basket for several months and finally pulled the trigger on purchasing it. It was very easy to assemble as long as you don't fully tighten the bolts before putting all of them in. It is fairly heavy for one person but manageable. The package comes with everything you need to mount it to your car if you have a 2 inch trailer hitch. It has 2 ratcheting straps to hold down whatever you want to put in the basket. It also comes with a cargo net and a waterproof bag to keep things in the basket. The bag has room for at least 3 27 gallon buckets if you want to keep them dry while in transit. It has straps to hold the bag in place on the basket as well. The basket, when mounted, is far enough from my SUV that I can open my hatch door without hitting it. When it is folded up, it will hit the door. The basket comes with a locking hitch pin to attach it to the vehicle hitch mount. It fits snugly into my mount. Where it folds, however, there is just a large bolt. This does not provide the security that the locking pin does so I replaced it with my own locking pin. It would have been nice to have 2 locking pins to insure that the basket can't be easily removed. I will be disassembling the unit in the next couple of weeks to spray it with truck bed liner paint as recommended. I'm using it right away for a trip and don't have time to do it beforehand. Very happy with the build, ease of assembly and all the extras that come with this at the price point. ... show more

I needed something in a pinch and this was the only item I could delivered in a day. I was not expecting much in the way of quality but, it’s actually pretty nice! I expected the waterproof carrier to be junk but was pleasantly surprised by how well it was made. We hit rain and nothing got wet. Also nice integration attach points on the bag make it quite secure. The anti-wobble device worked great. Usually these things have a bit of play at the receiver. With this thing it was absolutely rock solid. I’d recommend this product without hesitation. Only thing I’d advise is to keep it out of the rain when not using it or it will eventually rust out. ... show more

Giving this roof rack 4 out of five stars. I Recently went on a camping trip with my family and drove through some heavy rain on our way there. The roof bag that had a lot of our equipment in stayed nice and dry inside the bag. The straps to hold down the bag took a little bit to figure out to find a good spot to strap them down to the rack. Doing this in the rain wasn't any fun! The only reason I'm not giving this product a 5 star rating is the u bolts that hold the roof rack down to your cross bars stick up above the rack itself and do not have a protective cap to them. So they will scratch up what ever you have stored up there. Or tear through the travel bag. ... show more

I bought this rack to go on a 300 mile trip of 6 in my car. And let's say I wasn't going 60 or 70 mph. I was definitely hitting the triple digits and the bag was STURDY. I will say that when you're driving fast, you will hear some whistling due to the reduction in aero. And it's a bit worse without the bag on, as the wind runs through the rack and almost sounds like you're on a small airplane. Just make sure you secure it properly! I made sure to secure my luggage appropriately and used the net as a backup in case the bag broke apart. My only complaint is that the rack has already started rusting within 2 days of use while it was raining. So try to seal the rack in a rust-resistant spray/paint before using it in the rain. I plan on continuing to use it after getting rid of the rust and coating it in a rust-resistant spray. ... show more

This is a great product for the money. Rack is good quality for the price and comes with a bunch of extras: bag, ratchet straps, hitch tightener and net. It all adds up to be a great value... but there are a couple things to keep in mind: 1) This is sturdy for most people's needs (used for additional storage on vacations) but if you need something to carry heavy equipment, I would recommend something with a stronger gauge. It has a 500lb weight limit but warns of shifting loads, meaning, give yourself a safety margin under the weight limit and you will be fine. I think this is not an issue for most people. 2) Watch where your exhaust comes out of the vehicle. A couple reviews had disastrous outcomes with heat, this was because the exhaust heat exited right in to the items on the rack. Make sure your exhaust flows under the hitch. If your hitch opening aligns with -or- is under the exhaust, you will need to buy a different hitch with a curve in it or an attachment that lifts the hitch up above the exhaust. This is a no frills hitch to save cost: no bend in it for very low vehicles, it also does not fold up when not in use.
