Directions: It's better boil with soda. Recently I have seen a lot of customer feedback about red water problems. I went to do a tannin removal experiment, add soda and boil, boil for 15 minutes. Soak in hot water until the water is cool. Add new water and continue to boil, cycle 3-5 times. My experiment was repeated four times. Then continue to soak in water, change the water once a day, and remove tannins need for 4 days.

i bought from this place before for my moms tank & i soaked it all day in my sink with hot water & baking soda. probably a full 24 hours but it sank & has been stunning. i just purchased 4 more pieces. 14-18in mopani pack of 2 (x2) for my new 75 gallon & man these pieces are even more stunning than the last set. 10/10 recommend i cant believe the price point. stacking these together looks like a piece worth hundreds of dollars!!! buy it!

SIZE: very accurate. EASE OF USE: goes well with aquarium decor. FUNCTIONALITY: very unique pieces for many decorating options. SAFETY: needs to be boiled and then fully submerged until fully sunk. Tannins are not to bad especially after boiling for an hour and then soaking for an hour. No leeching, crystal clear water. NOTE: use a cheap small trash can when you soak with hot water.

So this is my first time ever have an aquarium, let alone driftwood. I bought these two pieces, and they are beautiful, even though they are a bit smaller than I anticipated. I saw everyone saying in the reviews and the product listing to boil the heck out of this wood, and I did just that. I boiled water and dumped it in a small cooler I had since I didn’t have a pot or pan big enough to use to boil water with the wood. I did this roughly once every day or two for a little over three weeks and the water I was dumping out after letting it sit was STILL brown. I finally just said to heck with it and put them in my tank. Water has not turned color at all since adding, but I also have a Seachem Purigen packet in my filter so, that might be helping . They sank just fine thankfully, so no issues with floating up or having to anchor them with something. I’m like 90% sure this wood was sprayed with some sort of coloring or treatment because it just felt really chalky upon arrival. But regardless, it is nice wood. Just don’t buy if you plan on using it quickly because this requires so much time and patience.

Ordered the 5-9inch (5 pack) All pieces are no bigger than 5 inches. Would have been nice for an assortment. Expect a few hours of boiling or a few days of soaking in bucket to release tannins. Be patient.

Purchased WDEFUN Natural Driftwood for Aquarium Decor. The "driftwood" floats. Cannot anchor it to the bottom of the aquarium. Leaving it to soak in aquarium to see if it will absorb water. Is of zero use in an aquarium due to floating !!!!!!!!!!!! Have never written a comment on Amazon before after years of use, but this aquarium decor is of zero use. Follow-up comment: Was able to get it useful in aquarium by drilling hole in a slate rock using a concrete drill bit, putting a wood screw through the drill hole and screwing it into the bottom of the "driftwood" and covering the slate rock with the gravel from the bottom of the aquarium. Way too much trouble to stop it from floating to the top of the water. Did not boil the "driftwood" and it has not turned the water in the aquarium dark after 2 days. It was however soaked in a 5 gallon bucket outside in the sun for 3 days prior to putting it in the aquarium. The water in the bucket turned dark brown. Changed water in bucket 3 times.

I understand that the ones you get will not be exact as on the picture, but come on! Of course, barely to the minimum size and not even close to the picture. It is a quality driftwood, but I wish it was closer to the picture you posted.

I received nicely shaped big pieces of driftwood. They will look great in my 75 gallon planted tank once I get them prepped. I don't like tea colored water, so the prep takes days. That said, I followed the instructions. I boiled both pieces in a large soup pot four times, total of 8 plus hours, with fresh water for each boiling and let the driftwood sit in the pot afterwards. The water was the color of strong black coffee each time. I'm on phase two which is soaking the wood. I have them in a five gallon bucket because it is easier to dump and change the water rather than putting them in a 10 gallon tank. The wood was saturated after boiling, so there was no issue floating. I started soaking day 4 after boiling the wood. After about 8 hours, the water in the buckets has a brown tinge. After a day, it looks like weak tea and like strong tea day 3. I left it to see how long it would take to change the color of the water when it is not filtered. It's day 7 now and I'll see what this looks like after 24 hours. I think it will be soaked well enough to put in the tank as long as I put charcoal in the canister filter to remove the tannins. Very nice wood, but plan to prep and wait before landscaping the tank.
