  • I love this.
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Kayak Bracket
I got the 18, should have got the 32. This is great. Had a couple issues at first with parts breaking, cause of a situation, not manufacturing. Seller jumped right on it and sent me out ALL of the items i needed free of charge. I buy from this seller again. 100 stars from me. Down side, if mounting on kayak, find a better way. Sundolphin type plastic tends to flex and bend. Use a long support bar that fixes to both sides. ... show more

  • manufacturer support is great
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Kayak Bracket
Plastic motor mount broke after three uses. Switches are not waterproof so the motor has to be covered up when it rains. 18lb thrust worked well for tandem kayak and motor mount the the side of the kayak was easy using a drywall anchor. update 1/7/24 - I reached out to the manufacturer and they sent an upgraded motor mount that appears to be stronger. ... show more

  • Motor & seller are great; also love the optional bracket
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Kayak Bracket
I got the optional Kayak Bracket with the Watersnake 18 Trolling Motor. The products, seller, delivery, etc are all great. The seller, Innovative Procurement, is exceptional as I called them with some questions and delivery was amazingly fast. The motor itself (made by Jarvis in Australia) is great for a kayak as others have stated. I really like the optional bracket (instead of the transom mount) which is what the rest of my review is about. The bracket is innovative and allows easy removal of motor, swing it up/down, and fine tune for optimal position and most efficient power. A couple things to note as of Dec 2020… I got “version 2” of the bracket so"swivel plate" interlocks with the bottom "base" using teeth which I assume helps reduce any unwanted sliding, however, the pictures/videos currently show the older swivel plate so don’t be surprised when you get the newer version. Also, the metal jack beam rod is hard to push into the swivel initially but it loosens over time (that’s how you slide the motor on/off the bracket)....it helps to soap it to remove any sticky grime. ... show more

  • Great motor, poor mount.
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Kayak Bracket
I bought this to use on my kayak for my birthday. My first impression was how easy it was to mount on my Lifetime Stealth 11' kayak, very little modification of the yak to mount it. When I tightened the motor to the mount, I used pliers to get it real tight, because of what I read from the reviews. I started out on low and everything was great, speedometer on phone showed I going 2 mph. I then went to high and the motor kicked up and almost out of the water, so I shut it down and tried to tighten it some more. That helped very little and now the rest of the mount went sideways. Considering how tight I had everything tightened this is completely unacceptable. I am giving the motor 5 stars and the mount 1 star since I was at least able to attach it to my kayak. Great idea but very poor engineering. I will drill holes in it and add screws to make it and laugh at the trained monkeys who designed it. Have a nice day. ... show more

  • great Motor, mount needs some reengineering
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Kayak Bracket
I bought the motor in January. But in Northern Michigan that means I wait until May to consider going on a lake fishing in a boat/Kayak. Thats when I finally mounted the Motor in my fishing Kayak. Drilling holes in my Kayak I am not a fan of but had to mount it. The mounting system, on the surface looks ingenious. Bu the true test was taking it out on the water. First off I realized what others had said about the extension rod for steering. Great concept bad execution. Couldn't get the thing tight enough to not slip. Next the Positive. The little 18LBS thrust has plenty of power. So much is spun the motor backwards out of the water out of my hand. I quickly attempted to turn it off but instead I hit reverse as I was trying to right it and there it went forward. The tube going to the mount is way to smooth and slips without hesitation. Now th eother problem that shocked me was the Mount sandwich also spun so now not only did I have pivoting Motor but an angled under the boat, motor. The sandwich that is supposed to clamp on the edges of the Mount were also to smooth and spun to change the angle of the motor. Both issues need to be addressed. Some kind of texture or teeth need to be added to all points that connect to the shafts. Also I could not tighten down the bolts anymore. The plastic is to soft and the nuts just stripped them out. The additional extended handle also needs a rethink. Same issue can't tighten the nut enough to have it clamp down on the shaft enough to hold and steer. I completely removed that, after stripping out the nut housing. Like I said the Motor is great. The mounting concept is good, the actual plastic and friction points need to be rethought completely. I have made modification to tighten things up and will see how it performs next time I go out fishing. ... show more

  • Don’t listen to the bad reviews this thing is awesome!!!
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Kayak Bracket
I read a few bad reviews that almost steered me away from buying this motor. However, after easily installing it in about 20 minutes and after it’s first test run on the water today, I’m confident the people who wrote bad reviews can’t put things together properly. This motor is awesome! I mounted it on my old cobra fish and dive and it gets me cruising around 2mph on low speed and 3.75-4mph on high speed. The motor is very quiet also. I paired it with a mighty max 12v 35 amp battery and it worked flawlessly .I’M NEVER PADDLING AGAIN! ... show more

  • Just tested it on the creek
Size: 18 Pound Thrust Color: Kayak Bracket
Just got back from trying it out on the creek and i will give you the pros and cons of using this on a kayak. The T18 asp watersnake motor was the perfect size for my one seater plastic canoe/kayak. Speedy on high setting and nice cruise on low setting. I was also able to tow another person against the current on their kayak on the high setting. No downsides to the motor itself. The mount however was not strong enough to stay in position on the high setting as it uses two little plastic knobs that are difficult to fully tighten. Steering was possible using the pop-out stick on the control head with left hand and using right hand to brace the motor from swiveling forwards. This is easily solved with string holding the top section forwards or the bottom section rearwards, cumbersome though and risk of tangle. Less easily solved by drilling the swivel shaft and mount to accept a removable pin to hold it in the down position. Overall It is well worth the price and can be improved if you are handy with a drill or know how to tie a knot. ... show more
