Overall this is a nice, rather unassuming design for a rug, with a nice soft surface. As an entry rug I would think it's too soft and wouldn't hold up to vigorous scuffing and so forth, but as an interior rug elsewhere it does a nice job. I would caution that it's so soft it's almost slick, and more than once, while barefoot, I've slipped a bit on it. Note, the rug didn't slip, my foot slipped on the surface of the rug. Maybe I have excessively slippery feet, but I don't think so. ... show more

I have quite a bit of rugs and mats throughout my house and this is the first time I have come across a rug that is as soft as this. It feels like velvet and you get a very soothing sensation when you step on it with your bare feet. The carpet is true to size at 2ft x 3ft (for me at least) and is low piling so there's not much padding. The edges are well-stitched and the reverse has a rubber backing so it's non-slipping. Though I had originally wanted to use it as a door mat right when I stepped in from the garage, I’d ended up moving it to be used at the foot of my stairs instead. The reason comes down to 2 “issues” I have with the rug. 1 – though it's soft it also presents the issue of it being a little slick/slippery, it’s not as bad as it sounds and doesn’t happen often. I found it mostly occurring if I step on the rug in a certain direction and this occurs a little more frequently while wearing my hard plastic bottom slipper. 2 – it can get dirty easily as finer dirt particles get stuck in the fibers. Same with pet hair as my cat has taken a liking to the rug. However, the issue is not the dirt or hair, but instead when I try vacuuming it. Since the fiber is dense and low pile running a brush vacuum (vacuum with a brush roll) over it will either: 1 - drag the rug into the vacuum or 2 - the brush will just stop spinning as the brush bristle catches the carpet fibers like Velcro - tested with my upright and cordless vacuum. Though these are issues I had come across it doesn’t take away from the product itself. It is a very nice rug and even though I can’t vacuum the rug it’s easy to wash in a washing machine. The slick feel is just for a moment and as soon as your foot contacts the floor through the carpet the slippery feel is gone. Also, though the pattern on mine (grey/white) looks faded to me it's just fine. So based on the merit of how it feels, is made, and functions I’d recommend this rug. ... show more

    • Great Area Rug for Kitchen or Bath for Those Who Like Modern Design

This small rug is not for everybody. If you have traditional decor in your home, its abstract design will not really fit. But if your taste runs to modern aesthetics, it can be a very special rug. I notice that one other reviewer says that the pattern on his Dear Life rug is somewhat faded, so that it looks primarily like an ivory rug with small, indistinct splotches of color. That is not the case with my rug at all. It has a random pattern of fairly dark blue splotches with the white areas relegated to the background. As such, it is highly attractive and interesting. It comes in other colors, but I can attest that the blue/ivory -- if the blue areas are dark enough -- is really nice. A big surprise is how incredibly soft it is. It has a truly luxurious feel when you walk on it with bare feet. In addition, the nonslip backing really works. I find that when I put it in one place it stays there so well that you literally have to pick it up if you wish to move it. My impression is that it is very tightly woven and should provide very good durability. My one concern is keeping it clean. The ivory is very light, and one would guess that it will in time start showing dirt. So far I have had it for a week in an area with heavy traffic in a bathroom and there is no sign of soiling. If it does get dirty it can be washed in a machine with cold water on a gentle cycle, and put in a dryer on low (or, perhaps preferably, allowed to hang dry). What it will look like over the long run is an open question, but it might well hold up, and if it doesn't it can be replaced for a very reasonable price. I love this rug. It is so soft and you can feel the plushness of it when you walk on it. My husband, who usually questions why I buy things, even commented on how soft and thick it was. I’ve washed it twice and it washes easily. I have hung it to dry as I do not like to put rugs in the dryer. The only downfall is that it does get dirty easily due to its light color. ... show more

The pattern on the rug is decent and seems to hold. The rug is SUPER soft. The problem is that it really holds dirt on the surface, and vacuuming doesn't remove it. You have to wash it in the washer, and you have to do that about once every other week if you don't want it to be completely nasty.

The Urtla Thin Accent Throw Rug arrives loosely folded and tucked into a plastic sleeve before outer packaging. This washable rug is surprisingly plush, the texture of which is fluffy like polar-type fleece. This is an upright pile, evenly clipped to about ¼” deep. The backing is a substantial layer of textured non-slip rubber. In testing this rug on various floor surfaces (hardwood, vinyl, porcelain tile, low-pile carpeting) I found that this backing holds the rug quite securely. The edging is a simple overlock stitch securely wrapped to the back with what appears to be 12wt. thread and nicely covering the front edge with a well-bloomed wooly nylon thread. I have no concerns that it will slip/slide underfoot. My rug measures 24 ½” x 36 ⅝”. Upon unwrapping there were no sharp creases and the rug laid flat within minutes. I couldn’t get the lighting correct for a picture to show the thickness of the pile. The printed surface looks just like the photos in the listing. There is a fiber/care tag attached at the edge binding. Bottom line: I like this rug and anticipate no ‘out of the ordinary’ issues.
