I just installed a Warn Vantage 2000 winch on my 2012 Honda Rancher 420 4x4 using this 84704 mount. Additionally, I installed a Pro Vantage front plow mount while I had it opened up. Fit up was great considering the space and options allowed. It would have been a huge task to fabricate my own but I do have all the capability. Yes, the instructions lack crystal clear clarity and the images are too close in to easily identify orientations. It could likely help a lot of installers to understand the winch mounts upside down with the brand stickers facing back. Also, in the step describing placing the winch on the bumper then putting the bumper back on the quad...the winch bolts to nothing yet, you just set it there. If this is too "fumbley" for you put a few zip ties on it. I am a highly skilled technician of 30 years, I write assembly instructions for a living these days...this was a tedious installation and well worth some time and patience...give yourself an entire day if you've never done one of these before. Warn makes good stuff and these are no exceptions. If you have little technical installation experience consider professional installation, it will save you a lot of stress and frustration. This is doable and works fantastic once its all said and done. Happy wrenching !!

I have an 06 Polaris sportsman 500 that i put this in, to replace the factory winch that i was having issues with the contactor on. this winch only comes with about 1.5-2 foot power leads, really limiting the mounting options. the winch leads are about 6-7 feet. I had to reverse the lines, inorder to use the same mounting location as the factory contactor. so now, i have a blue and yellow running to the battery and a red and black going to the winch. they are the same size lines, so not a huge deal, but kind of an inconvinence, and i have no slack in either of the lines, leaving limited options, and would likely not work on a machine that is larger.

01/28/2018. I never write reviews, ever, but I really dont want anyone going through this kind of trouble again if I can help it. I wasted several countless hours installing, then trouble shooting and researching the solution to the problems I encountered with this winch. The bottom line is that this WARN winch is notorious for getting stuck in free spool. The fix (per my research) A. is to unwind it all the way each time then manually spin the inner core (drum) with your hand to lock it into mechanical spool so you can retract the line, or B. Tear it apart and hack off the plastic tab inside of the winch that it is getting hung up on. Either way this is not the quality that WARN was once we’ll known for and is unacceptable, parts were once made of all metal, now plastic is being used and reliability is suffering drastically. I thought this may have been a fluke though, so I ordered a replacement and the same problems occurred. Please save yourself the time and headache this winch is sure to give you. Hope you take my advice or atleast find this comment useful after you buy it and incur the same incident.
