Brian Wampler did it again. This is the tone I was looking for. I was needing a smooth overdrive that would put a little "hair" on my notes and then be able to switch to full distortion when I need it. The big bonus with this pedal is the noise gate. Spend the money and get a 2in1 that stands alone or stacks with everything. Sounds great. Got it going through a peavey valveking 212 but I'd imagine through a single speaker or a solid state amp it'd be just as fantastic. In a different way. :-)

I like that it works equally well for my Gibsons or Fender Stratocaster. My current band required that I use a Stratocaster, and the Gearbox works perfectly for this guitar. It’s very dynamic for an OD pedal. Dig in and it rewards you, ease up on the pick attack and it mellows out. I own the Pinnacle and Tumness already, but this pedal has the two tweaked to work together really well. Overall, I’m really happy with this purchase. ... show more

Just buy it as quickly as possible without even thinking about it. It's 2 pedals in 1 unit, and spans the entire spectrum of clean to crunch to shred (with wonderful harmonics and warmth throughout) . I have probably 6 OD pedals plus the pinnacle (MXR Wylde Overdrive and TS9 have been standbys) but always struggled with pedal driven distortion and stacking multiple drives. No longer needed. This thing is everything. Pinnacle was love at first stomp, but Gearbox tops it - and clears up a lot of space on the pedal board. Really happy with this box. ... show more

This pedal has an “expensive tone”, a truly sweet flavor and is very comfortable to play. I have to agree with others that have stated that the Gearbox sounds great from the second you plug it in and it’s impossible to make it sound bad. I’m impressed with Wampler’s ability to pack in so many bonus features like the noise gate, ability to change stacking order and an additional loop in between the two channels of. It's a Pinnacle on the Left and a Tumnus on the Right both tweaked to Andy Woods specs. It's F'n Killer! You you only have one drive pedal for your board, this is the one to get. 45 years experience, this is the one.
