  • Great product!!!
I just purchased this for my 03 Suburban which has 217,000 miles. I kept getting a random misfire code (P0300) and went through the entire system trying to isolate the problem. Symptoms were complete lack of power, poor fuel mileage and a regular retarding of the ignition timing. Prior to this I began hearing a crackling sound coming from beneath the truck. I never would have thought the problem was a severe exhaust restriction which came from the catalytic converter breaking down. So, on to the Walker replacement. I was concerned, at first, when I finally got the thing fitted up to the exhaust headers and the flanges didn't line up perfectly. With a little finessing, and some gentle prying, the unit finally fit. All the O2 sensors fit perfectly and I bolted everything up tight. I ran the truck after the install and it was back to it's normal self. The entire job took me ALL day (8am-11pm), but in the end was worth it. Of course, I didn't spend the entire day under the truck. Several hours were spent waiting for thd PB Blaster to loosen the nuts. Had to buy a 1/2" drive breaker bar to break them loose and ended up breaking one stud on the old y-pipe, but this was no big deal as it was one of the studs that was already pressed into thd new unit. I did have to cut one stud short on the driver side exhaust manifold, as the nut threads stripped at the bottom of the stud and just spun on the stud. Fortunately, the studs are quite long and I had ample thread left to install a new nut. I am quite satisfied with the Walker product and would recommend it as a replacement. Just be prepared for a long day's work. ... show more

  • Hardest part was cutting out the old rusted out exhaust
Quality product. Fit very nicely, just had to leverage the one connector to the manifold with a crow bar in the position so that I could tighten the three bolts. Otherwise it fit in real nice. Make sure you get the angled washer for the passenger side connection to the manifold. Also, it did not come with the two nuts and lockwashers where it connects to the muffler end flange. They were M 10 metric nuts with 1.50 angled pitch, very important! ... show more

  • but not bad. Came with driver side manifold collector gasket (did ...
Installed on 2002 Tahoe Z71 4WD with 222K miles and P0420 code for passenger side catalyst efficiency. Had to pry a bit to get passenger side collector studs lined up with driver side aligned, but not bad. Came with driver side manifold collector gasket (did not need the extra one suggested by Amazon - Walker 31718) - there was no old gasket on the original but I used the new gasket. Did not come with passenger side crush donut but I bought the Amazon suggested Walker 31554 - the passenger side original donut was hard and probably fine to reuse, but I used the new one which was more soft/compliant. Did not come with new nuts, but old nuts were fine on mine - threaded studs on both exhaust manifolds and on muffler end of the converter. Using air impact wrench would have been easier with deep 15mm socket due to long exhaust manifold collector studs, but was able to work around with normal length socket. All nuts require long extensions for access. Have to drop the transmission cross member to get the old converter y pipe out and new one in. I removed only 3 of 4 long bolts/nuts on cross member (2 on passenger and inner 1 on driver side) and rotated out of the way sufficiently - have to support transmission with jack/stand and also remove the two nuts attaching cross member to transmission mount. Good time to replace transmission mount if needed. Note that driver side long bolt to cross member should be reinstalled prior to tightening nuts on driver side exhaust collector since the long bolt could not be installed on mine after tightening driver side manifold nuts due to interference of long cross member bolt with the O2 sensor mount boss area on the new catalytic converter. Seems fine with no exhaust leaks on first start. Can't comment on longevity obviously, but usually that is a function of other issues such as oil getting by exhaust valve stem seals, etc - comes with note stating all the other specific issues should be fixed to ensure new converters won't be damaged over time. ... show more

  • Fit well and now the truck runs and sounds like it's new again!
Packaging was a bit wimpy for this set as they are fairly heavy, but luckily they are rugged too and had no damage. Fit without much problems and are working great. Truck runs much smoother with these. Also swapped out all 4 Oxygen sensors too for simple peace of mind. It looked like all original equipment and the 2003 chevy silverado 1500 had 95k miles on it. No more check engine light! Would highly recommend this set to the home mechanic that wants to save hundreds of $$ rather than taking it to a shop. ... show more

  • replacement made easy.
Installed on a 2000 Silverado 4x4. Fit perfect. Some say they had to lower the transmission cross member but I didn't. Unbolt the pipe, pull the pipe back, drop the front to the ground then slide it forward. Slid it out from the side of the truck. Tip: unbolt your front drive shaft in the front and move it to the center of the truck. This makes getting the front 02 sensor much easier to reach. the plug on the front sensor is very difficult to reach if you don't do this. Do not put the new front sensor in until the pipe is bolted up. With the drive shaft swing out of the way putting the sensor back in is a breeze. Also the Walker pipe clears the transmission pan much better then the factory pipe. Now the pipe will not need to be unbolted to get at the pan bolts and drop the pan. Well thought out. ... show more

Bought for an 01 Tahoe 2wd. Installation was simple, put the front up on Jack stands, did have to drop the transmission cross member. Came with left manifold gasket, didn't order the one for the right as the factory is steel and generally doesn't wear out. Bolted it up, installed oxygen sensors, fired up and quiet, no leaks, great fit! Original pipe had the converters removed and I was getting random 420/430 codes. Couldn't find it cheaper anywhere else, all ends protected. ... show more
