  • Lasted 6 years
Well i bought these in 2017 and now in January 2024 i may have to replace them due to the ol' P0420 code...temps are hotter on inlet side so im sure they(CC) are clogged. Its a shame because the piping is immaculate and wish the cats were replacable. Fits perfect and all the other cheaper brands have complaints about fitment gaps. Install was about 20 minutes since my truck is lifted and didnt have to move transmission mount. ... show more

  • Great Kit
Purchased this for my 2002 Tahoe with 200,000 miles after fully troubleshooting the dreaded P0420 code to the driver side catalytic converter. I looked at numerous products but this one won out from both a name and quality perspective. Plus, it is two piece unit and I felt that the installation would be easier. In fact, the installation was quite easy and yes I did drop the transmission support to ease installation. It took me approximately 4 hours to install - which included removal of the old pipes and the installation of this kit. You do not need a second pair of hands as stated in an earlier post. The quality of this kit is exceptional. As stated in an earlier review the welds are clean and the pipes and flanges are thick and will not warp. After removal of the old system I did notice metallic crap coming out of the driver side pipe - I assume from the converter. I cleared the P0420 code and it has not come back. I did notice a slight increase in the low end torque and the exhaust note is a bit deeper/loader. I highly recommend this kit. You can't beat the cost and quality. ... show more

  • Excellent Product !!
I will start by telling you that my initial reaction upon opening the box for this item was frustration and disappointment. I was going to provide a bad review but I would have been VERY wrong. I ultimately installed the cats on my 2001 Tahoe and I am extremely happy with this product. It is beyond my expectations for performance, it is the packaging and the used product that I received that made a terrible first impression. This was a replacement cat system from another manufacturer that sent me the worst product I ever purchased on Amazon. Do not by Au$#+!*#r 88 cats...they suck!! Magnaflow is top notch, best I have used, but they did not send a NEW cat system like I ordered. If you review the pictures I provided, you will clearly see many scratches, dents, carbon buildup, and seals that were questionable as to their integrity due to damage. I had spent so much time installing and removing the first product that I just took a chance and installed what Magnaflow sent. I had purchased new gaskets/seals and just wanted it to be installed so I could get my Tahoe running. I am super happy that I did!!!! I installed this system after inspecting for cracks or compromised areas and found no visible areas that were anything more than dents and scratches. It went in perfectly!!!! The material is high quality, beautiful weld seams, and fitment like a glove!! Right side pre-cat O2 sensor needed to be placed a bit differently due to clearance but that is the ONLY issue with fitment. I consider that expected and impressive to fit so nicely with one minor, fixable, issue. Finally...I have been driving the Tahoe every day for over a month now and I am EXTREMELY satisfied. Definite noticeable gain in power. Engine light OUT and has not popped a code since. The sound is very nice and deep. I would recommend this product and would buy any exhaust component from Magnaflow in the future. They got 4 stars because they sent me a used product with dents, scratches, carbon buildup (obviously used by someone else), and damaged seals. I ordered NEW. Let me tell you though, it is awesome!! I do not think you could go wrong with this for the price. Buy it. ... show more

  • Great Do it Yourself Solution
MagnaFlow 93419 Direct Fit Catalytic Converter (Non CARB compliant) Installation: - 2002 GMC Yukon SLT w/5.3L Flex Fuel. - Total install time approximately 2 1/2 hours. - Put the truck on Rhino ramps for clearance, added wheel chocks. - Supported the transmission with jack stand behind the cross member. - Lowered passenger side of transmission cross member for extra clearance. - Removed all O2 sensors prior to removing the existing system. - Used Milwaukee 2754 M18 Impact and PB Blaster to remove existing hardware. - Had to use propane torch to loosen 3 flange nuts on driver's side. - Reinstalled O2 sensors after install. Pros: - Fit was excellent. - Gained mileage after installation. - Quiet operation. - Same quality as OEM. - Check engine light did not return after reset. Cons: - Donut gasket was slightly too wide to insert by hand. Ended up using the original gasket. Recommendation: I would recommend this product. ... show more

  • Pretty good fix so far.
Just installed this yesterday on my 04 Silverado. Took me about 4 hours. The manifold bolts (15mm deep well socket) all needed some heat and 1/2" ratchet with cheater bar to crack the nuts. The rear (where it bolts to the muffler) did not need heat, just ratchet with cheater bar. First crack all the nuts loose and then unplug the O2 sensors. Then support the transmission with a jack and some wood blocks, take the transmission support member out. I left the far drivers side bolt in and swung it down. Remove the old cats, take the O2 sensors out on the workbench. Reassemble the O2 sensors in the new cats, and fit the sections together for the install and slide the clamp on but dont tighten yet. Fit it all back in under the truck and you are good to go. The rear connection to the muffler was kind of a pain in the ass, but I got it there. Clear the code with a code scanner and I am P0420 code free.....for now. Will update if that changes. Although I would replace my O2 sensors before claiming this cat assembly is not working. ... show more
