  • Pretty good fix so far.
Just installed this yesterday on my 04 Silverado. Took me about 4 hours. The manifold bolts (15mm deep well socket) all needed some heat and 1/2" ratchet with cheater bar to crack the nuts. The rear (where it bolts to the muffler) did not need heat, just ratchet with cheater bar. First crack all the nuts loose and then unplug the O2 sensors. Then support the transmission with a jack and some wood blocks, take the transmission support member out. I left the far drivers side bolt in and swung it down. Remove the old cats, take the O2 sensors out on the workbench. Reassemble the O2 sensors in the new cats, and fit the sections together for the install and slide the clamp on but dont tighten yet. Fit it all back in under the truck and you are good to go. The rear connection to the muffler was kind of a pain in the ass, but I got it there. Clear the code with a code scanner and I am P0420 code free.....for now. Will update if that changes. Although I would replace my O2 sensors before claiming this cat assembly is not working. ... show more

  • Lasted 6 years
Well i bought these in 2017 and now in January 2024 i may have to replace them due to the ol' P0420 code...temps are hotter on inlet side so im sure they(CC) are clogged. Its a shame because the piping is immaculate and wish the cats were replacable. Fits perfect and all the other cheaper brands have complaints about fitment gaps. Install was about 20 minutes since my truck is lifted and didnt have to move transmission mount. ... show more

  • Excellent Product !!
I will start by telling you that my initial reaction upon opening the box for this item was frustration and disappointment. I was going to provide a bad review but I would have been VERY wrong. I ultimately installed the cats on my 2001 Tahoe and I am extremely happy with this product. It is beyond my expectations for performance, it is the packaging and the used product that I received that made a terrible first impression. This was a replacement cat system from another manufacturer that sent me the worst product I ever purchased on Amazon. Do not by Au$#+!*#r 88 cats...they suck!! Magnaflow is top notch, best I have used, but they did not send a NEW cat system like I ordered. If you review the pictures I provided, you will clearly see many scratches, dents, carbon buildup, and seals that were questionable as to their integrity due to damage. I had spent so much time installing and removing the first product that I just took a chance and installed what Magnaflow sent. I had purchased new gaskets/seals and just wanted it to be installed so I could get my Tahoe running. I am super happy that I did!!!! I installed this system after inspecting for cracks or compromised areas and found no visible areas that were anything more than dents and scratches. It went in perfectly!!!! The material is high quality, beautiful weld seams, and fitment like a glove!! Right side pre-cat O2 sensor needed to be placed a bit differently due to clearance but that is the ONLY issue with fitment. I consider that expected and impressive to fit so nicely with one minor, fixable, issue. Finally...I have been driving the Tahoe every day for over a month now and I am EXTREMELY satisfied. Definite noticeable gain in power. Engine light OUT and has not popped a code since. The sound is very nice and deep. I would recommend this product and would buy any exhaust component from Magnaflow in the future. They got 4 stars because they sent me a used product with dents, scratches, carbon buildup (obviously used by someone else), and damaged seals. I ordered NEW. Let me tell you though, it is awesome!! I do not think you could go wrong with this for the price. Buy it. ... show more

  • MF will not Warranty and Quality not quite up to par with factory cats
Update July 2022. 4.5 years and the drivers side is rattling and completely shot. I have replaced the PCV/Valve cover, valve stem seals and have a catch can. No oil being burned in my engine what so ever. 5,000 mile oil change intervals and not 1 drop of oil burned. Update 8/2020: 2.5 years later and <20,000 miles the dreaded P0420 Code Returned. Replacing O2 Sensors (Factory Denso) and repairing 1 broken manifold stud did not keep the code from returning. All signs point to the Cat. No big deal or so I thought. I contacted MF Customer Service and over 10 days later they responded and would not Warranty this product. It's many times more costly than the competition and no better. Buy the $200 knockoff and have a tuner delete the Rear O2s and you'll be $$$ ahead instead of buying these. These are a great budget replacement set of cats. As others stated the metal of the pipes is thinner than factory and there's some noticeable exhaust noise resonating through the tubing on cold start up. I didn't use the supplied gaskets; for the crush donut I used the recommended Walker 31718 gasket on the drivers side and reused the passenger side bowl gasket as it was fine and the supplied one from MF didn't fit inside the manifold outlet. You will need to hog out the holes with a step bit on your existing mid pipe after the cats to bolt up the new system to your existing cat-back exhaust as the MF studs are clocked a few degrees off of the factory location. I would never have bought these to replace a set of working factory cats. My valve cover PCV was faulty and dumped oil into the exhaust ruining the cats. If you have a P4020 or 4030 code replace your valve cover with the updated PCV! Otherwise you'll ruin another set of cats! ... show more

  • Absolutely a great product.
Fit was perfect. Absolutely a great install. Had to drop one side of the transmission crossmember (passenger side) and the rest is a piece of cake. I was duly impressed with the fit and it came with the necessary components to complete the installation with one exception, the 3 hole flat gasket on the driver side exhaust manifold interface. a $10 item. I highly recommend this product from a highly regarded manufacturer. I could not be more pleased. I have noticed a performance gain as well most likely due to the perfect mandrel bent piping an a good flowing catalytic converter design. Give it 6 stars if I could! Have not driven far enough to check the mileage but when the performance increases that usually means better gas mileage due to a lesser throttle position with no other changes. ... show more
