  • Excellent TV Stand
I had high expectations for this product and it definitely lived up to them. The order was placed on 12/20/12, the product shipped on 12/21/12, and delivered on 12/27/12 (five days ahead of schedule). All components were intact and in excellent condition with no cracks or dents in any of the pieces, the paint job clean and practically flawless. The entire unit is made of high quality wood and the fine workmanship on each piece is very obvious. The assembly instructions were easy to follow and I was able to complete it on my own in about 2 hours. What I like most about this TV stand is the quality and strength of wood used. My old stand was not able to support a 40" TV, (even though it claimed to support larger sized TVs) and the wood started to warp after only 2 months. I stuck with it for almost a year. The thick wood and strong construction allows my TV to sit comfortably with no visible warping. Another reason I really liked this TV stand was the design. Having the drawers on the bottom (instead of far left and right with two levels in the middle) and the electronics shelf on the top all across is more functional and utilitarian in my opinion. This makes it easier to use the remotes for the cable and/or DVR boxes. In the past, I would have to bend my arms in ten different angles to get the signal to reach the DVR box, which was on the lower shelf and thus oftentimes blocked by the coffee table or ottoman. I highly recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a TV stand with clean lines, simplicity, elegance, and sturdiness all rolled into one. For this price point, it is more than worth it. Great great buy! Overall, I love this product and would have to say it is one of the best purchases I made in 2012! ... show more

  • High quality, American instructions!
So many times before I have purchased bookcases, TV stands, end tables, etc. that have been made out of cheap materials with instructions that were poorly written and hard to follow. Well when this stand first arrived at my doorstep and I picked it up for the first time I could tell immediately that this thing was heavy duty and not some cheap particle board knock-off (it's heavy!!). I laid it down and opened it for the first time and the wood smelled great and fresh and all the pieces looked like some serious craftsmanship went into them. For those purchasing this stand, I cannot recommend it more. Here are some things I learned during assembly: 1) First, I was able to put this together on my own just fine. Obviously having additional help will speed things up and make things easier, but one person can still assemble this on their own. 2) Assuming you are putting this together on your own, it will probably take you a couple hours. I don't see how anyone can put this together in 15 minutes. Then again, I'm very careful about what I do to make sure I don't miss anything. 3) Read the first page! It tells you to use glue on all dowels before inserting them. The step-by-step instructions don't tell you to use glue when inserting the dowels and assume you have already read this. It also tells you to not use a power tool during assembly, which I would recommend. Screwing everything in by hand can get tedious, but it's probably safer. 4) Feel free to be deliberate when using glue. They give you three bottles and I only used two during the whole process putting glue on both ends of the dowels as directed by the manufacturer. 5) Sometimes the numbered stickers that mark the pieces are placed where other pieces will go so they become difficult to remove at the end. I would simply move the sticker over to another spot that won't be covered by another piece. 6) I did not use the back panel pieces (orange plastic pieces with screws) to hold the panels in place. I think they're somewhat of an eyesore and it seems like the panels should stay in place on their own. This may be more of a personal preference, though. This is a great stand, very attractive, and well worth it. They even include stickers that are wood textured to match the stand itself so you can cover any visible cam locks! ... show more

  • Not bad, not great
Color: Espresso Brown Style: Storage Cabinet
Not bad, not great. The quality of the wood is somewhat better than low-end Chinese particleboard furniture found at Walmart (the stuff which barely has a laminated surface and ends up bowing and coming apart). The main construction of this cabinet was pretty solid and had some heft to it, so if Walmart furniture is an "F", this is a "C-". But for the price and also being made in China, don't expect designer furniture quality. I bought this because I have a DVD collection that I don't really watch anymore but needs to be stored instead of scattered in bins around the house. For that purpose, this storage cabinet looks nice and wasn't terribly expensive so I don't regret buying it. The style will fit in with pretty much any decor, as it's fairly ambiguous, being neither traditional nor contemporary. The glass doors add a nice touch. Installation was straightforward and the instructions were fairly easy to read. I used a bit-driver with two different Phillips head bits and a hammer (for nailing down the thin backing to the cabinet). I think there may be another tool involved, maybe an Allen key, but that comes with the cabinet if I remember correctly. Look, if you're at all handy, this is a joke. I did get screwed up on something because you have to look at the pictures closely and make sure you're orienting things on the right side. You can usually tell in the pictures by where the holes for the wood dowels that you glue the pieces together with are located. There is also a nylon strap on the back that you can nail into a wall to keep the cabinet from falling over. I didn't do this since it sits in a quiet back room but the cabinet actually is pretty thin and I could easily see this falling over if it's in an area accessible by energetic kids, active pets (dogs), etc. I filled up the entire cabinet, literally, and ended up putting some of my blu-rays on top because I ran out of room. Depending on how you organize the shelves (you can move them up or down with metal pins), you can get several shelves for DVD's that have an inch or so of clearance above them, so a few more cases can be squeezed in horizontally. By the way, I paid $73 for this and felt that was a little pricey - $50-60 is probably more fair for what you get. I see that the cabinet is now priced at $90+. At that cost, this is NOT worth buying. Wait until it goes down to what I paid or find something else. ... show more
