I’ve been using this Wakefield Premium Biochar Blend as part of my regular plant routine, and overall, I’m impressed. The mix feels high quality, and I love that it’s infused with probiotics and their “CarbonBoost” concept—it definitely feels like I’m giving my plants something special. That said, this isn’t a miracle product that shows results overnight. It took about two weeks before I started noticing my plants perking up—especially my pickier ones. They’re looking healthier, leaves are greener, and I’m needing to water a bit less often, which is always a win. If you’re looking for something that’s going to revive a plant from the brink overnight, this isn’t it. But if you’re already in the habit of tending to your plants and want to give their soil a boost, this blend is a solid addition. Would love it if the packaging were resealable—just a small tweak that would make handling and storing it neater. Still, I’ll definitely keep using it and might even try it in a few propagation experiments down the line.

I used this to transplant my geraniums in to bring indoors over the winter months. In the Spring we worked this compost into our garden bed so it was dual duty. A little pricey but excellent quality.

This is some of the best compost available on amazon. Probably in the top 2 for me so far. The difference between this and my other favorite compost I’ve found on amazon, blue ribbon, is that the wakefield seems more biologically live, lots of what I’m guessing is mycorrhizae. The blue ribbon is a dark black compost perhaps more bacteria dominant, wakefield is a dark brown / dark black mix compost with white strands and flecks denoting a more fungal dominant compost. I say get both, along with some biochar. Always remember to charge the biochar with the compost (mix biochar with compost, and/or vermicompost aka earthworm castings, and let sit at least 24 hours, spray a tiny amount of water to encourage inoculation) and/or a liquid bacterial inoculant such as EM1.
