    • Ratchet / Release mechanism failure / Vivosun made it right
Bought a 2 pair pack in March and installed in my grow tent supporting a 27 pound LED grow light. One of the four I received started having issues with ratcheting and releasing within a month of installation. I figured I wouldn't be adjusting much so I didn't contact vivosun. Well now after three months of use the unit will not ratchet up or release down unless I remove it from use and fiddle with it on my workbench . As soon as I put any tension on the cord it locks up again. I guess I will try a different manufacture to replace these. Vivosun has always been known for quality products of which I have purchased many. This item is a disappointment but I guess I could say 3 out of 4 worked. UPDATE: Contacted Vivosun and explained my issue------within 4 days a replacement 2 pack was delivered. This is what a successful business does by standing behind the product it sells. I have lived my life by the adage " Give everyone the opportunity to do the right thing."     • Cannot raise and lower flower baskets over my head.
I bought these to hang flower baskets from a tree in my yard. The long rope and heavy weight capability were a big plus. The problem is that these will not work for my application. I wanted to pull a flower basket seven feet in the air, using this product to pull it down and raise it back up. But the button doesn't work that way. It would have to be up seven feet in the air to work the way this is configured. From that height I could raise and lower my flower basket. But I am on the ground, not up in the air. Bought 2 of these to go with my 5 gallon hanging water bags for camping. They worked great for first 7-8 times that I pulled the full water bags up, weighing just under 40 lbs when almost full. Then they started to bind up a little, pulled hard. After a few more ~40 lbs lifts they did not work any longer, without any weight, they wouldn’t move either way, with or without button pressed. Update: Drilled out top rivet and took apart. Appears screw that holds both sides of pulley together loosens up and then the green button and locking/racket gears have no room to disengage cause the 2 sides of pulley are pushed apart by rope. Tightened the screw holding the 2 pulley sections together, added some silicone grease to a bunch of areas and reassembled with screw/nuts in place of rivet. Works fine again. May add some thread lock to center screw/nut holding pulleys together if it happens again. ... show more

I don’t recommend these for hanging plants from a hook above. One end of it has to be out o n the hook in the ceiling & the end with the black box with the release button, on the plants hanger, but when you hang it rhe release button is too high to reach without a stool or ladder. I like the kind that when you pull down on the plant, it releases & lowers & then to raise it , you just push up on the plant. This one in order to get it to come down, the release button has to be pushed & to raise it, you have to pull down on a thin rope you must hide in the plant, not what I want. ... show more

They are suspending a 16" x 98" custom grow light I built out of metal studs, aluminum duct-work for a reflector hood. I opened my wall, and installed a 10' bank of windows, and needed supplemental lighting. It has 4 - 4' led 6k tubes, 4 - 4' led 4k tubes. Next; I'll be installing 3 - 5k cfl's, and; 8 - 4" 2.7k retro-fit led cans. The whole gizmo will run two separate lighting circuits, with digital timers, and the 8 led tubes will toggle on/off separately, while the cfl's will be constant when the timer is on, and the 8 can's will be switched on/off via two groups of 4. The hangers are awesome! I have two at each end in a cross pattern hang. The whole light project is less than 20 pounds. After I install the center lighting circuits; I'll apply some green vinyl board & batten siding cut-offs, i have, for a finishing touch. There will be roughly 23k to 28k lumens, to choose in combinations. ... show more

I just used several of these to help transport my Kayak 300 miles across the country, from CA to VA. I bought 4 and 2 of them broke outright while cinching down the Kayak. Bear in mind, I didn't crank down on these things very much, and the mechanism stripped (buttons seized). The other two did the job as bow and stern tie-downs, but rusted badly in the rain over the course of the week-long trip. PROS: Two of the four worked and help secure my Kayak for a 3500 mile trip. Very thin cordage makes for light wind-noise. CONS: Cheap. Buttons are cheap. Metal carabiner is cheap and rusts badly in rain. Button mechanisms broke on 2/4, a 50% failure rate before I traveled a single mile. OVERALL: An OK purchase at this price-point but given my exact application, I may try alternatives next time. ... show more

I love the idea of how these hangers work and have click settings but overall poor cheap design that broke with very little weight within the very first few adjustments and the hooks are to small of a diameter to fit over the normal grow tent light rail which seems very unthought out .. They also gave me the runaround and made me email vivosun directly before anyone at amazon would help me vivosun then ignored my emails and finally I then talked amazon into just refunding my money and i purchased ... show more
