  • Great rack, space saving
I’d been storing my 10.5’ kayak on edge, in the bark dust on the side of the house. After buying my wife the same model, I didn’t want to store her pristine kayak on the dirty gravel ground. Researched numerous racks before deciding on this one. PROS: large padded hooks, perfect height, very sturdy/adjustable feet, assembles well with good hardware, looks nice. This holds the last 2’ of kayak on each end, securely & all the way into the hook loops. No straps needed. I’m 6’3” and can easily hoist the 50 lb kayak into the upper hooks. I unscrewed the adjustable feet in the front of the bases, to help avoid leaning forward-which works good. I’m very pleased. Watch out for the yellow model with straps that doesn’t have a cross brace. I almost bought it accidentally. ... show more

  • Solid Solution
Assembly was easy, but took a while to open the hardware packaging. Stable structure, solid components, and well-designed.

  • Sturdy but topples too easy
This was easy to assemble and I like that it's portable. It needs to be mounted to the ground or dock as it tipped over the first day we used it with 2 kayaks. We moved it between two trees and strapped it to the trees on both sides! It may be fine if on totally flat ground and not exposed to any wind. But if you are waterfront I wouldn't buy unless you can secure it somehow. ... show more

  • Great garage storage rack
Took me a bit to put them together, but that is never my specialty. End result so far, sturdy rack for Kayaks and I don't have to drill more holes into my garage walls. Also, if we rearrange, put them outside or move ---- don't have to buy something else

  • Super Sturdy Kayak Stand
I was waffling between the VivoHome Rack and the 1006 RAD Sportz Deluxe Rack. There were no reviews for the VivoHome so I wasn't sure to take the plunge. I tried to look carefully at the pictures and I couldn't tell if there was a verifying difference. I decided to go with the VivoHome Rack because the VivoHome Rack had a heavier shipping weight and so I hoped it might be built beefier. I was not disappointed when the shipment arrived. This is a heavy duty rack. The welds are well done and the steel is nice and thick. I particularly liked the inset connections for the cross-beam. It gives confidence for the stability and long wear of the product. The product was boxed up nice and all the pieces were present. I was impressed with the supplied bolts and self-sealing nuts as well as having washers supplied. In addition, I was thoroughly impressed with the extra supporting iron plates to strengthen the connections of the main upright stand. I was definitely not expecting extra stability plates from this price-range. The rack was easy to assemble although I admit that I used a ratchet socket wrench along with one of the supplied wrenches and this made it much easier. I was able to assemble the rack by myself in about 30 minutes. I took my time making sure I understood the instructions. If you have done any assembling of structures before you will find that everything makes sense and the construction is straight forward. There was a small dent in one of the intersecting sections of the main upright stand yet a few medium taps from a rubber mallet and the connection was complete and firm. I was not concerned about the dent compromising the integrity of the main upright stand. I like that they added extra metal feet with a hole through which the rack could be permanently mounted to the floor. I have my rack outside on pavers so I didn't add the extra metal feet. The rack is quite stable without the extra metal feet and the supplied rubber feet work well without need for extra support. I mounted my two person sit-on top kayak with the hull facing away from the rack to prevent pooling of water when it rains (I still covered the kayak & rack with a tarp). A little bit of maneuvering is required to fit this kayak under the top U-carriers of this rack in order to set it on the bottom holders yet it is not too bad. I have a VERY HEAVY two person sit-on-top kayak from Costco. This kayak is quite the beast but is very stable in the water (this has nothing to do with this rack but I wanted to give you an idea of the stability and strength of the rack). I am very pleased with this rack. I don't have any other kayak rack to compare it to yet this rack is heavy duty and stable and seems like it will last a long time. I was happy to move my kayak out of my garage along the outside of my house in my side yard. For $150 I thought it was a reasonable buy. I would purchase this rack again. ... show more

  • Very easy to setup, and very stable.
Summary - Very happy with this purchase. Details below for those that want more... * Unpacking - The materials were well packed and everything was there, including the tool required for assembly. * Assembly - Pretty simple and straight forward. The instructions were easy to follow. I did most of the assembly in my house, but waited to complete the final assembly until I was on site. This basically involved connecting to two "ends" together. * Using the rack - It feels very sturdy. I have no concerns about it tipping over or falling apart. I run and sailing & paddling club, so I purchased it for the club, so we are using it for purposes that differ slightly from how you might be using it. On the bottom, I'm storing several sets of Sunfish sails, which includes masts and booms. We have 6 sets that fit nicely and keep the sails up off the floor (the rack is set up in our boathouse). On top I have 2 inflatable SUPs. The SUPs are on their sides, and they are thicker than non-inflatable SUPs, but I am able to fit them both on the top rack and don't feel like they will fall out. Again, this is indoors. Were they stored outdoors, I might consider securing them to the rack somehow. * Bottom line - we feel like this rack is going to work well for us. We have a fleet of kayaks, and are considering ordering more racks to store those as well. ... show more
