The media could not be loaded. I can't say enough good things about this motor so far. Find out what you need for a mounting plate for your kayak, put the QD plate on, get a decent battery, wire it up, and you're off! There's some rigging to do depending on kayak manufacturer, but for my first trolling motor of any sort, I absolutely love it so far! ... show more

I was bummed when the other company decided to discontinue the iX3, but then Minn Kota stepped up and launched an even better motor. The composite shaft is killer, and I like the incorporation of the safety switch, as I have seen guys fall out of their kayaks with the motor engaged; not pretty. The Kayak Terrova works great on the bow of my Shearwater 125. I plan to add a new boat next year, and I can easily go back and forth between kayaks with the quick-release mounting plate. The remote is small and easy to tether to your PFD, so it's always nearby. The only negative is that I have to crawl up to the motor to turn on the power. I accidentally pulled the safety switch on my last outing and had to work my way up to the bow to turn the power back on. That was not fun, as the shearwater is pretty narrow and unstable at the bow. It would be nice if the remote could turn on the power. This may be a safety feature, but I am more likely to fall out of the kayak while turning on the power at the unit than at any other time. ... show more

Loving it so far. Game changer for kayak fishing. Spotlock is great, no more anchor wizard. Even used spotlock on a smallmouth river and had it lock me in current. I love that I can lock in at one speed and then steer with my feet cruising along the bank or grass line.
