I had to find a new way to manage cables when I upgraded to a sit/stand desk, as my hard plastic cable management “raceway” wouldn’t work any longer. I also wanted to avoid using a neoprene sleeve, as they collect dust and are impossible to clean. I stumbled across a picture showing one of these “vertebrae” style things and figured it was worth a shot. I did some digging and decided the VIVO product seemed like the best option. I got everything setup and I am extremely satisfied with the results. There are a couple of things I’d note: 1. It feels like the plastic could break if you put too much pressure trying to get a thick cable inside one of the 4 sections. I was happy that it did not break, but I’d recommend taking your time and not brute-forcing a cable inside. 2. Don’t put all of your cables in just 1 of the 4 sections. Try to alternate sections so you keep the tension of the cables distributed, otherwise your “vertebrae” may push out to one side. Overall, I’m very satisfied with this product and would highly recommend it.

I have a standing desk and everything including the desk itself is connected to a power strip and the power strip cord goes down to the plug bought this for aesthetic and to protect the cable from my cats trying to play with it. it works very wel. good if you like to be organized

I have an adjustable standing desk, so I needed to hide cables and cords on a barebones desk frame but leave enough slack so that they wouldn't get pulled taut whenever I elevated the tabletop. I got the white one so that it would stand out less against my wall; otherwise I thought my desk would look like an edgy biomechanical-themed gaming station. Now my desk looks like it's deadlifting my computer case with a rounded back which, if you're familiar with me, is peak irony. Each of the four channels is spacious and easy to run cables through, but it's difficult to extricate specific ones because they get tangled inside. Also, cables sometimes slip out of the channels, which can be fixed with some tape. The "discs" in the spine are made of plastic and seem flimsy, so handle them with care.

This product works as intended and is excellent for cable management, especially on a rising desk. The problem was not the item itself, but the mounting hardware. The screws are made from the softest metal known to man, and even with the right drive, they will not hold up. If you install the product once and never again move it, shouldn't be a big deal. But if you plan on relocating the product even one time, you will want to use your own hardware.

I purchased this product to try to contain and protect my cables for my Mac Mini, monitor, modem, and wireless router from a cat who thinks these cords are chew sticks. I attached the vertebrae anchor piece at the back of my sit-stand desk BEFORE attaching the appropriate link. I used a 1/8" drill bit to pre-drill two holes for the included screws, and drilled into my IKEA bamboo desktop from down below, leaving half the vertebrae under the desk and half off the edge to accommodate different cords and cables. There may be a better way to do this, but the kit doesn't come with directions, so I had to guess how to mount it. As it is, this worked well for me and since the desk has a bevelled edge, the cables that are routed there are not visible from in front of the desk. After installing the anchor point I attached a pre-measured section of vertebrae. I did the measuring before installation of the anchor by extending my sit-stand desk to its highest point (where I have it set for me to stand), added the weighted base to the end of it, while holding the top section on the bottom of the anchor. When I had the extended vertebrae to the length I wanted, I attached it to the anchor point and began adding cables to it. The base is weighted, but only lightly. Maybe 2 pounds? It's all made of plastic as far as I can tell, except for maybe the internals of the base and the lightweight metal frame of the anchor point. Despite its plastic construction, it does seem sturdy enough to function as designed. It moves as expected when installed and as long as the cables you put in it don't have too much tension on them, it should not break easily. Two things to be aware of when adding or removing sections of the vertebrae. First, the connections are solid, but the plastic tabs that connect together to hold the vertebrae sections can break if you are not very careful when manipulating them! Second, you may not get the perfect length of vertebrae for your desk if you are very tall. Check the details for the product and measure underneath your desk before ordering to make sure you have enough length. This product is an innovative office organizationn and cable management accessory, with a well-thought-out design. I like it as it does hide, protect, and contain cables, making them less noticeable under my sit-stand desk. You do need to be careful when attaching the pieces together so as not to break the connecting tabs, and it should not be overloaded as it needs to bend easily when your desk goes up and down. There are (4) channels to direct cables through it and it's easy to add cables via the slots on the sides, but some thick cables will not be able to fit into the slot. You can direct cables at any point when they are inside the channels of the vertabrae, meaning if you need to have one cable head off in another direction half-way down the chain - you can do it. In conclusion, if you're trying to contain your cables and wires, this is worth considering.
