    • Have tried a bunch of others, this is the best so far.
I don't usually write reviews unless I feel strongly about a product, good or bad. This mic arm is exactly what I was looking for. It doesn't give the same range of motion as a standard boom arm would, but it works exactly how I need it. I use it mainly when I'm sitting at my desk. The good: it's way sturdier than any traditional desk boom I've used. The pneumatic pump makes up and down adjustments very easy and smooth. It cable manages much better than anything else; you can fit most of the cable into the arm itself. I can push it out of the way easy and bring it back in the same position. The really good: The clamp is probably the best part. It's easy to attach to the edge of a desk and extremely sturdy. For most boom arms I used, you'd have to tighten them repeatedly. This one has stayed in the same spot since I installed it. The not so good: The only small gripe I'd have is you have to use a tool to adjust how high the pneumatic arm is on the main tube connected to the desk. If you really needed a vast range of heights, I could see that being not very pleasant. That said, the pneumatic arm does have a pretty wide range of up and down motion, so for most applications, you will be fine. I'm 100% fine with where I have it positioned. For $80 or whatever they charge now, I think it's worth it. ... show more

I initially tried out a cheaper mic arm stand thing and it was simply worthless. It came mostly broken and was unusable. This mic arm is MUCH better. It's insanely sturdy. My desk has a weird lip where the surface is flat but there's a metal bar about an inch away from the edge under the table. I was expecting to have to mount this microphone arm on my other table which is further away. However, the clamp is so big and sturdy that it's able to clamp onto the metal bar under my table and it's PERFECT. I'm so happy about that. This clamp should really fit almost any table, even if it has quirks. The assembly was a bit awkward, but once I figured it out I was able to set up everything in about 15 minutes. I am using the Shure MV7 microphone with this stand and I was able to mount that microphone into the stand without any issues or any adapters necessary. The arm itself also has cable management built in which works very well. The range of motion for the arm itself is a bit awkward at times. Moving the microphone forward and backward relative to the arm is a bit weird, which I think might be an issue for a lot of people. For myself in particular, this is not an issue since my microphone remains stationary 99.5% of the time. Aside from that minor issue, this is easily the best microphone arm mount I've ever used. The price is a bit spooky but with how sturdy everything is, and how well the clamp fits on my awkward table, the price is completely worth it for me. ... show more

What I like about this arm mount is that it fits an existing VIVO pole mount that I have much of my system attached to. It's hefty, looks bulky, and is plenty sturdy. I have several mics inclucing the Shure smb-27, EV R20, etc. Absolute no concerns about weight bearing capacity. Cable organization is also good. What I don't like and you may not like about this: 1. It's not the most easy mic mount to move up or down. It stays where you move it, but if yo move it often, it's a bit of a chore. 2. The mic attachment itself is stiff, doesn't rotate very readily. Adjustment is by way of a set screw. I have a bit of a different mount where I mount the mic to a photography ball head then the ballhead to the 5/8 mic mounting screw. This allows me to quickly and securely adjust any mic in any position and lock it in tight. Without this method, the mic's rotation on the 5/8 screw mount will likely wear out with time 3. The Shure smb-27 does not fit due to it's unique mount. You could make it fit by buying an extra 5/8 extension. So for me it's a good mount, a 4 star. But I think the way I see most others use their mic, think carefully. There likely are better options for the price. ... show more
