  • Worth every penny!
Style: All-Terrain Color: Blue
I got this for after heel surgery. I figured I would mostly use it here and there and rely on my crutches. Boy was I wrong. I’m so unstable on my crutches I fell 3 times just trying to get into the house! I have been on the knee scooter ever since. Makes everything so much easier. I do recommend getting one that has a bag in front as it makes moving things around a lot easier. The knee pad itself is ok, I appreciate what it does having designed divots in it helps stabilize your knee but it does make it all a bit harder. The brakes are super responsive and sturdy. As an almost 300 pound person, I was concerned about falling off other knee scooters. Not even a concern with this. Relatively easy to assemble. Definitely practice before major use though. Takes a few tries to get comfortable with it. I got the all terrain beefier tires as I live on dirty road and it January and quite snowy. It handles rough terrain pretty well. Being bone weight bearing right now and having some pretty big tire indentations from the cars mixed with ice I was glad my husband was there to help. The turning radius it pretty good. I do have some spots where I have to drag it or work do 7 point turns. But my house is small and tight so honestly it does a great job. Never felt like I was going to fall of it. It’s larger than I thought I was hoping it could fit in a stair as I have 2 I have to get up or down to get out and in the house sadly it’s to large for this. But I do sturdy that I feel this is a good compromise. Definitely feel better using it without the worry of falling off. The handlebars fold down which made it fit in my husbands small suv well, probably would fit in a compact car. Won’t fit in a smart car (moms car). I would recommend practicing this once or twice especially if you have an inpatient husband like mine :) ... show more

  • Double Ankle Fracture - This is the ONE you want!
Style: All-Terrain Color: Black
I never write reviews but this has been a LIFESAVER!!! I (female, 5’5”/late 50’s) broke my ankle in 2 places mid-May and have been non-weight bearing for 6 weeks. I purchased a different scooter for ~$159 from Amazon (5/20) and it was great until a plastic piece on one of the wheels broke in week 4! I got nervous about it fully breaking and losing all the recovery ground I’d made. Amazon ok’d me to return the other one (!) and purchased THIS much better scooter!! I was desperate to get this new scooter asap and was able to text the company to request expedited shipping and they said 2-4 days was included in the price. For my order I got it in TWO DAYS!! The nubby tires are much more stable going over driveway gravel, rocks, sidewalk bumps, and inside floor thresholds (old house) etc. These tires are also squishier so the ride is MUCH smoother and I thought the curved knee pad might be bothersome but you can adjust your knee easily even with a cast that comes right up to your knee. The better construction of this scooter is worth the extra money and piece of mind! While I liked the disc brake action on the other scooter better vs this one, there are two mental pieces that grab the tires, which works just fine going up/down slight grades. The construction of this is perfect for large men too because the knee part and handles can go much higher. Because I am 5’5”, I might ask my husband to adapt the lowest knee setting maybe an inch lower, but after three days on it I am getting better - it’s just as easy to bend a bit to zip along (really minor point, but good note for women). It’s rugged and solid - - which I need for living on a farm with a gravel driveway and uneven grass. It’s also great across bumpy and asphalt parking lots if your husband takes you to lunch! There’s a simple lever to flip to have the handle bars bend down to go into a car trunk. And, the carrying bag is a great size - fits everything for a run to Walmart, etc. I was optimistic about my getting my cast off and put a pair of sneakers in the bag (not needed because I got a walking cast). The freedom the scooter gives you really helps your mental and keeps the muscles working. Remain positive - you will get through this recovery phase!!! ... show more

  • Sturdy well designed Knee Scooter...beware, not so good on open pavement though!
I got this knee scooter the day after my foot surgery, it was pretty easy to assemble quickly - even my wife who is not mechanically inclined figured most of it out within minutes. The only confusing part for her was the locking lever on the front of the Vive scooter (metal hand with a spring screw)...she wasn't sure how it worked. The key is to first pull the handle vertically so it fits over the bracket, next rotating down where the handle bottom faces down (see photos). After building it, we put on the Vive knee cushion (HIGHLY RECOMMEND as the seat is not very cushiony) I had ordered separately onto the seat and we were off and running. It is very stable and keeps its balance fairly well in turns. The brakes work well, but they are just a metal plate (see photo) that bears down on the polyurethane wheels...so braking can be somewhat less than smooth if you are going at any speed (ie. downhill). Both brake handles operate the same metal plate against both back wheels (no brakes on front wheels which is good - don't want to flip forward!) so it doesn't matter which brake you engage. You can LOCK the brake in place which his a GREAT feature using a spring loaded metal pin (see photo) - you just have to squeeze the brake handle pretty good to ensure the pin can be pushed down and stay engaged properly. Warning - pavement not as good as in your house. Probably goes without saying but if you're on polyurethane wheels like this Vive scooter has, every rock, pebble, acorn, gap in the sidewalk has the potential to make your handle jump to one side or the other depending on which wheel hit it. That means its pretty slow going if you see any rough pavement, dirty pavement, gappy sidewalks, textured bump ramps (many handicap ramps are ribbed), etc. If thats a show stopper for you and you aren't a careful person outside - opt for a more expensive "off-road" air tire version of the knee scooter. Otherwise, if you take it slow...it won't be the greatest ride, but at least you can make it through the road junk without sending your scooter flying to one side or another. I did ride this scooter in the rain (not by choice mind you) and it performed very well..didn't slide everywhere and this is where those metal brakes actually worked better. lol The bag....what a lifesaver. This knee scooter came with a nice nylon removable lightweight knapsack type bag complete with a shoulder strap. I was able to shuffle around my house putting food, drinks, my laptop, cell phone, etc etc. and get from place to place. Just a very nice touch to be included with the scooter. The only knock? Well the mount bracket is two metal prongs that you have to slide a very very narrow nylon attachment on the bak over the metal prongs to hang it (see pic). Meh...its a pain in the keister to get it on. But I plan to just add some industrial velcro onto that nylon area and just velcro strap it onto the handle - presto instant upgrade. :) This scooter is not "lightweight" per se at roughly 25 lbs...but it does have a collapsable handle. Disengaging that metal locking braket mechanism allows you to fold down the handle (turn the wheel to get it past the seat then rotate it back to the center after it clears the seat). I wish they had provided a strap to allow you to then strap in the folded handle against the seat...but alas, nothing a little trip to the store for a velcro strap to make it betta. This will fit folded in most larger sedans back seats, trunks, and certainly in any SUV/Minivan or taxi with a deep trunk. Final thoughts: Great scooter, sturdy, more of an indoor device but can easily be used outdoors if you take it slow over pavement/sidewalks. If they had offered this with air tires without charging an arm and let I might have gone that route but as it is, for the $130+ bucks I paid...this is a good investment. Second foot surgery...here I come! ... show more
