Worth every penny!

I got this for after heel surgery. I figured I would mostly use it here and there and rely on my crutches. Boy was I wrong. I’m so unstable on my crutches I fell 3 times just trying to get into the house! I have been on the knee scooter ever since. Makes everything so much easier. I do recommend getting one that has a bag in front as it makes moving things around a lot easier. The knee pad itself is ok, I appreciate what it does having designed divots in it helps stabilize your knee but it does make it all a bit harder. The brakes are super responsive and sturdy. As an almost 300 pound person, I was concerned about falling off other knee scooters. Not even a concern with this. Relatively easy to assemble. Definitely practice before major use though. Takes a few tries to get comfortable with it. I got the all terrain beefier tires as I live on dirty road and it January and quite snowy. It handles rough terrain pretty well. Being bone weight bearing right now and having some pretty big tire indentations from the cars mixed with ice I was glad my husband was there to help. The turning radius it pretty good. I do have some spots where I have to drag it or work do 7 point turns. But my house is small and tight so honestly it does a great job. Never felt like I was going to fall of it. It’s larger than I thought I was hoping it could fit in a stair as I have 2 I have to get up or down to get out and in the house sadly it’s to large for this. But I do sturdy that I feel this is a good compromise. Definitely feel better using it without the worry of falling off. The handlebars fold down which made it fit in my husbands small suv well, probably would fit in a compact car. Won’t fit in a smart car (moms car). I would recommend practicing this once or twice especially if you have an inpatient husband like mine :)

I am a stocky 205 pound man, and I am very happy with the product. It is beefy enough for me to roll around the gravel with a little effort. Overall pleased with the ease of setup, and quality. It is a bit unstable on the slightest of side hill use, but that is the trade-off with it being narrow enough to get through a doorway. Overall pleased with the sturdyness and ease of folding.

Great, well made scooter for the Big and Tall

I broke my ankle and found I needed something other than crutches. So I began looking at scooters. This one really caught my eye for multiple reasons. One is its weight capacity. I weigh around 280lbs and wanted a high weight capacity scooter. I also noticed several comments about the scooter being too tall. Well, that was music to my ears, as I’m 6’6” tall. When the scooter arrived, I was very pleased with how easy it was to assemble. No tools needed. The handlebars and seat height were easy to adjust. I like the large, pneumatic tires. They allow it to easily roll over gravel or other debris that might cause smaller, hard plastic wheels to suddenly stop and cause a fall. The tires came fully inflated. I’ve used it several days and have noticed no need to add any air. I have found that it takes a lot of room to make turns. I suspect that if the front wheels were allowed to turn any sharper it would affect the scooter’s stability. Speaking of stability, I find this scooter to be very stable which adds to the safety factor. The knee pad is just okay as comfort goes. I did purchase the optional pad cushion, which for me was really needed. I deducted one star because this. I do like the choice of colors. I chose the blue option, as I thought it looked best. Overall, especially if you’re tall and heavy, this is the scooter to get.

Sturdy, reliable, and good brakes!

This is a great scooter for leaving the house. Handles brick, stone, uneven surfaces, cracks, etc really well. I have a smaller "indoor" one for around the house. This scooter has a poor turning radius--because it is more stable and the tires are better. I want the stability when I am in unfamiliar locations or outside. Solid, sturdy, reliable. The brakes are STRONG--this scooter doesn't budge when the brakes are on.

Very good affordable unit but you can wipe out on uneven surfaces -- be careful!
After I broke my leg in a fall and ended up in a lower leg cast, I ordered the Vive scooter, and I have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand, it is a godsend, and makes it much easier and less stressful to get around the house than being on crutches. The downside is primarily that it does not do well outdoors on rough surfaces such as bricks, sidewalks, paving stones, transitions, and I have wiped out several times with it. (i.e.tipped over and crashed) For example, I visited a motel yesterday, and when slowly turning on a transition from flooring to carpeting in the hallway, I tipped over and totally wiped out with it. This happened on several other occasions where there were bumps, irregularities, grooves, flooring or paving transitions, or other minor path hazards. Luckily I was never hurt. Let me also add, that in lumbering around my house, I also fell with my crutches a few days ago. The source of the problem with the Vive may be that the front wheels are too small. You have to concentrate when you are using the Vive, and pay close attention to the surface over which you are traveling. Some others have mentioned that the rear wheel axle bolt can scrape sharply on your ankle, if you have the misfortune to scrape against it. It's too bad the unit does not have protective hubcaps to guard against the sharp, cutting abrasion of the allen bolt, a simple fix. All that being said, I feel in the last week that I could not have "survived" without the Vive. I was able to (carefully) go up and down steps and curbs, go into restaurants and restrooms, gas stations, and other accommodations with relative ease. But it really helps to have an assistant to put the scooter in your car and take it out when you need it, although I AM able to do that myself with some effort. I am six foot 2 and 61 years old. Kind of silly to have a leg break at this stage of the game...but the Vive, in my view, is well worth the $159 price for what you get. The bag has been VERY practical and useful, a must-have. As for the height factor about which others have complained. Yes...at 6 foot 2, I was most comfortable with the unit at its LOWEST setting -- seat all the way down, handlebars set pretty low, so if you are SHORTER than I am, I could see how the fit might not be the best for you. Please note, that once you set the height of your handlebars, there is a lockdown handle that you must tighten and close to insure the handlebar is not shaky. It's not particularly easy to tighten the little nut in there, and it took me quite some time to figure this out! I have found no other unit on the market like this, so this seems to be the way to go, despite the "pitfalls".

Knee pad needs a lower setting

I have been through a lot of foot/ankle procedures over the last 10 years and have another in the near future. My original Knee Rover (original version, not all-terrain) needed a new knee pad and new brakes so I decided to buy two new ones: one for home and one for the car so I wouldn’t have to drag the one back and forth. I bought this Vive scooter as well as a Knee Rover all terrain with honeycomb tires. Having tried all three I definitely have thoughts. The Vive scooter is by far the easiest to put together and the pneumatic tires offer the most cushioning—definitely important. I also love the soft attached bag. My original Knee Rover had the metal basket and while I loved being able to but things in it l, it definitely got in the way, especially for things like cooking. For those reasons the Vive is almost a clear winner but has two major problems. The biggest is that even the lowest knee pad setting is too high for me at 5’6”, which is not short for a woman. It will not be a big deal with some thick-soled running shoes but it’s definitely a no-go to use barefoot or with slippers—which is what I wear in the house. The handlebar needs to be able to be adjusted just a tad lower as well. So with those drawbacks, it was an easy choice to designate this Vive scooter as the car scooter and use the new Knee Rover in the house. It also helps that the Vive is a tiny bit lighter as well and will be easier to take in and out of the SUV. It’s super stable and easy to navigate. I also love that it has the two locks for the brakes as compared to the Knee Rover’s one—making it a lot safer to navigate on and off of. So, bottom line is that it’s great—if you are a tallish person. Update: this knee scooter is the worst!!! Tired to use it to actually go some distance rather than the 10-20 foot increments I had been using it for. The high knee placement made it virtually impossible to use. I was panting, in pain and having to stop every 3 minutes. Do not buy

Vive all terrain knee scooter

The product is ok. But it has one very big issue! The mechanism to raise and lower the handle is very hard to use . Plug after not to long the whole mechanism screws, washer, spring , nut and all flew out of the scooter. I had no way to put down the handle I was stranded at my drs. My mom had to figure out how to get her seat down let alone trying to get it in her suv was very hard. I had this same problem with another scooter I had it’s the same mechanism to put down the handle as my old one and the same thing happened except it flung out all the parts from the vibration of her SUV while she was taking my some where. Now I don’t have any idea what to do because I have places I have to go and no knee scooter to help me out. I got this one because it’s all terrain. I paid more too. So now I’m stuck.
