The Ankle Brace came with 3 types of supports: gel pads that can be heated or cooled, air pads, and foam pads. It is a single ankle brace with uses two pads, one for each side of the leg/ankle. The brace that holds the pads is a hard plastic. The instructions says to put the gel pads in the freeze for 2+ hours. They only stayed cool enough for about 10 minutes. It should have been nice if the gel pads could be changed to allow behind the ankle bone to be cooled; that is, they were not as bendable as I would have liked. These braces did provide support for the ankle. Make sure you adjust the middle bottom part wider or smaller based on your leg and foot width.

Well designed ankle strap. Good size for most adults. Straps on securely, feels solid. Cooling pads are a well addition. This is good for an ankle sprain. But not enough for a fracture. Would buy again.

The VIVE ankle area brace and stabilizer is very versatile: It can be used on either foot, has 3 sets of pad inserts to use on both sides of the ankle and it's adjustable to different foot / ankle sizes. The gel pads can be used hot or cold and I used them in my left foot with strained peroneal tendon and it made it feel better. This product is also reasonably priced for all the different ways that it can be used.

Not sure if this would last for more than a recovery or two, but one is plenty and this seems like a pretty good value. Cushioning is great. Got this for IF I get injured, not because I'm injured, so I can't give it the full test until...well, I hope I don't have to find out. But it seems solid!

I received one of these about 35 years ago in the ER when I sprained my ankle and always wished that I had kept it as it worked so well keeping my ankle stabilized while healing from one of the many sprains I have suffered in my years as an athlete. I was excited to give this one a try and it I will say it is even better than the original I had. I say that because of the pads that can be swapped out. Having ice/heat packs that velcro into the brace is very nice to have. No more trying to use an elastic bandage to hold an ice pack on your foot, and this keeps the ice in the spot you need it the most. The other pads help to support through the healing process. The brace is very adjustable. I recommend starting with the heel and then the fasteners that go around your leg. Adjustments are easy once you get it situated.

This brace is much heavier duty than I was expecting, in a good way. I had a significant ankle sprain several years ago, and got a similar style brace at the doctor's office, which was great (allowed me to put weight back on the ankle and walk (gingerly) until it healed. Being prone to ankle sprains, I used that splint a couple more times on different mild sprains until it wore out. Since then, I'd been looking for a replacement. This Vive splint is even better than the one I had previously. The side supports are very solid plastic which provide a lot of support. It comes with three different side padding options. The air bladder pads are similar to what I used before and are most supportive for sprains (having more give to form fit around the ankle). It also has a set of thick foam pads and freezer gel pads for icing.

I really like the option to choose the kind of cushion/pad that's against your skin. My favorites are the air pads as they feel the most comfortable while still stabilizing my ankle. The gel pads are a close second, though, as the coolness gives relief and is just as comfortable. The foam pads are the stiffest and don't need the optional heel pads that are included, at least for me. The brace is also adjustable around the heel so you can increase/decrease the length in between the pads. Impressed with how adjustable this is. I have a really fat calf, and I had no problem wearing this because of the length of the straps. 5 stars!

The greatest thing about this brace is it offers a tremendous amount of adjustability. Most of what I have found can either fit on my ankle, or it can fit over my ankle wrapped in an ace bandage. This can easily be made to fit as snug as I would like either way - even if my ace bandage has many wrappings and is pretty thick. Once the heel size is set, you are then able to strap to the desired amount of compression / support just by adjusting the strap tightness. It also offers 3 variations on what you are pressing on your ankle, depending on what stage of recovery you are in. I really wish I had this from the start, when I had to ice on and off all day long. Very versatile and extremely adjustable, I highly recommend this brace.
