This new technology is really great! All the qualities of a standard visual fault locator based on my use so far, plus more! - Small/Compact, but with a little weight to make it feel 'quality' built. (The retractable head keeps it compact) - When I twist the unit on/off, the connector head pops in and out. Being able to retract it keeps it safe from dirt and/or damage when I accidentally dropped it. - Rechargeable, really handy as well, so I don't have to carry spare batteries. - The charge lasts a long time (although I haven't let it fully run down). And' there is a battery indicator that shows remaining life. - The USB-C charging port is a definite bonus, and there's a small charging cable included. - It has a fabric covered 'hard-shell' protective pouch (kind of like the kind you get for a pair of really good eye glasses) that the unit (and accessories) fits in nicely. This is a sleek little unit and will fit easily into a man or women's coat or vest pocket. I'd definitely recommend it based on my use so far. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Finally a great self-contained rechargeable (USB Type-C) fault tester/fiber identifier. The fiber head is retractable (twist the top) so you don't have to worry about it getting broken, it also has a 2 LED flashlight mode and an adapter for LC ends. i am so happy to not need a new set of batteries every single day because my VFL is dead in the morning. I was skeptical of the claims of this VFL. being only 1 mW and yet still being bright enough. I am a network tech that works on miles of fiber. no this will not go as far as a true 30 or 50 mW light will, but unless you NEED that kind of a light, this is perfect. this is my new 95% of the time light that I will use. this will work inter office, and it works for a couple thousand feet in the field when you just looking to find your fiber in a hub for like ftth. where this little guy lacks i have other lights to make up for. and that is when i read a fiber that is open in a splice about 4 or 5 miles away and i need something bright enough to get that far. this will not do that, but do not expect a 1mW laser to do that. This comes with a LC to SC adapter which is great for inter office. has two white LEDs for those dark spots that you can never get light in. has a very nice case, and it even comes with an extra ceramic tube in case you should some how damage the inner tube that it already has. i say buy, unless the only thing you do is chase MILES of fiber. if you work in an office and just need it for local work in a central office. this is great. I’m a bit new at testing fiber cabling so I didn’t want to spend a whole lot of money on a tool for testing until I understood the process better. This device is perfect for my use case. I have fiber connecting multiple switches in my house and I typically use fiber to interconnect switches on job sites. When you’re trying to troubleshoot any cable or connectivity issues, sometimes you find you’ll need to consider the cable itself. This tool is great for finding any faults in fiber cables. It’s great that it’s rechargeable so you don’t find yourself on a job site without any special batteries to power the device. If it has no power and you need to use it, just plug it in and charge it. No special batteries to order and keep in your case that just get old or explode/corrode due to age and environment changes. I’d recommend this for anyone who needs to test fiber cabling that doesn’t necessarily need a high-end, very expensive tool to tell you basic data like a cable fault. Great product. ... show more
