Shaped like a mini flashlight, metal housing has a good quality feel to it. It uses 2 AA batteries (not included) and simple to use with an always on mode and flash mode. The switch is simple to use, again like a flashlight, sliding easily up or down. Light is powerful to support long runs of cable. Comes with an adapter for LC cables which is useful in my case as my cables have LC connectors. The adapter works fine, securely attaches to an LC connector for testing. There is also a case for storage, nice to keep the tester from getting scratched when you throw it in the toolbox. Good tool to keep in your toolbox when the need to check fiber cables arises.

This was a gift for a friend who specializes in fiber installation after his other one fell out of his bag and got run over. He's pretty no-nonsense, so while I wasn't able to get a whole lot of details out of him on exactly how good it is, or if there are any issues with it, he said it gets the job done! Which, I guess is about as good as you can expect from a tool!

I picked up the CHunreegow 30 KM Visual Fault Locator (VFL) to troubleshoot single‑mode fiber runs, and it’s a solid performer, hence four stars. What I Love Long‑Range Detection: The built‑in red laser pen reliably lights up breaks, bends, and splices up to 30 km away, making it easy to pinpoint faults in long cable runs. Universal Connector Compatibility: With adapters for FC, LC, SC, and ST ferrules (9/125 µm), one tool covers virtually every telecom or data‑center connector you’ll encounter. Compact & Durable: At just under 7″ long and weighing less than 3 ounces, the anodized aluminum body feels rugged yet pocket‑friendly, perfect for field techs on the move. Room for Improvement Smooooooth Switch: The power slider works fine, but it moves so easily that I accidentally turn the unit off when pulling it from my pocket. A more tactile “click” action would give greater confidence that the tester is securely on or off. Bottom line: if you need a versatile, long‑range VFL that simply works and fits in your pocket, this is a great value. Just be mindful of that smooth switch.
