Description

This Vision bird home has many revolutionary design features that set it apart from traditional bird cages. It provides your bird with lots of room to move around and bird movements cause air currents, which flow outwards, and in the case of most standard bird cages these air currents eject waste and seed debris outside of the cage and onto the floor. With Vision Cages, the combination of the debris guard, the deep base and the placement of the seed and water cups helps combat air currents to keep the majority of the waste and debris inside the cage. Most cages come with pull-out drawers that fail to do a good job of collecting bird waste and create maintenance headaches as a result. Vision's unique no-drawer design simplifies cage cleaning-simply detach the cage portion and empty the contents of the base into the waste bin. The result is less time-consuming, messy cleanups associated with bird keeping, leaving you more time to enjoy your pet. Vision's deep base can handle multiple types of litter, while raised ridges inside the base provide air circulation and help .The bird home also allows non-invasive, exterior access to seed/water cups, reducing stress to birds during maintenance. In addition, multi-grip perches promote circulation. The knock-down cages are easy to assemble with a five-minute quick, click-snap assembly. Vision bird homes are available in a variety of sizes, including small bird cages or large wire cages. They are recommended for bird species as listed due to their natural behaviors and not by size of bird. The large cage is suitable for budgies, canaries, finches, parrotlets and lineolated parakeets. Vision also creates a variety of bird cage accessories including parakeet perches, parakeet toys, parakeet mirrors, bird baths, bird nest holders, bird cage stands and other parakeet supplies. The large cage is suitable for Budgies, Canaries, Lovebirds and Finches.

  • Lots of space w pros and cons
Style: Standard Size: Large
I will come back and update this when the birds have been living in it for a bit. I'm a veterinarian and have kept Budgies most of my life. Usually individual birds that get a lot of out of cage time. Because I have an injured old dog that needs intensive care and time I purchased a second bird to keep my new Budgie company so I needed a larger cage as they will spend more time inside the cage than out. I also wanted something that was easy to clean and contained seed and husks given that there would be 2 birds worth. After looking at various choices and reading reviews for a month I settled on this one. First impression: There was a small "mystery chip" of clear plastic along with the cage parts right out of the box. I can't find anything broken or any sharp edges. So ? It took me 1/2 hour to put this cage together because it wasn't clear how to get the clear bottom clipped to the wire cage sides properly and securely, and the corner clips kept coming undone when I moved the cage resulting on everything popping apart. I don't want to have to watch a video to put together a bird cage. Finally got everything together and it seems like a sturdy and secure cage. Pros: I like the built in clear plastic seed guard. The lift off to clean feature looks like it will make clean-up much easier and more thorough. The divided food dishes on wither side of the cage are great and I like the top shield to keep poop out. I provided a separate water dish on the side of the cage. Plenty enough space for 2 birds and enough width for horizontal fliers like Budgies to get some exercise. It's a good looking cage when put together. The outside access to the seed trays is a nice feature for quick feeding. The closure clasps seem secure, but these are in fact Budgies so time will tell. There are two doors side by side so you can control the opening size when you need to put your hand into the cage. My birds have been in the cage about 15. minutes and the male (Vecna) is already flying back and forth and found the food dishes. The female (Abandawe) is a bit more cautious but is checking things out. So far so good. Cons: Unclear written directions, need to watch a video to put things together properly, and it wasn't easy to get the wire sides to snap into the bottom clear guard without breaking there plastic. Corner clips a bit of a challenge to get on correctly. Only 2 perches provided and I would not recommend this style of perch for a bird. I'm giving them a try with the natural wood perches I provide, but I expect the provided perches won't be very good for grip or foot comfort. You will need a bird bath mad to sit on the floor of the cage. The ones that fit on the door opening do not work with this style (bottom hinge) door. Other things to consider: The doors fold in or out. There is a stop when folded in to provide the birds with a landing platform when they return to the cage. This is great but will limit where you can put toys, swings and perches inside the cage. Also the doors fall in uncontrolled and startle the birds if you do not keep a secure grip on them who they are unlocked. I can see a chance for possible bird injury. I don't know how long the clips that hold the top of the cage to the bottom will hold up with wear and tear of opening and closing them for cleanings which is a daily event if done properly, only time will tell. It would be nice if there was a cart with wheels that could be added to this as a movable base that was made to fit this cage and hold it securely. Recommendations: You will want some kind of ladder or climbing toy that allows your Budgie(s) an easy way to get from the top of the cage down to the bottom and back without flying. This will encourage foraging and bottom toy play activity as well. If you live in the USA and have a new bird from a pet shop it likely came with clipped wings, they are required by law to do this to make retrieval of escaped birds more likely. This feature will also make it easier to tame your bird. The feathers will grow back in with their first molt. But they will need a ladder to access the bottom of the cage and get back to the perches. Get natural or traditional wooden cage perches, the plastic ones provided do not seem properly shaped to supper foot and claw health over time. I don't recommend that drinking water be on the cage floor even covered. Get a dedicated covered water feeder that attached to the wire sides of the cage. Over all a 4 Star for now until I see how easy it is to get the cage cleaned and put back together after I'm used to the process. Out of the starting gate I'm pretty happy with this purchase...just wondering where that plastic chip came from! UPDATE: The plastic chip was part of the feeder door hinge mechanism, so the door on one side is a bit tricky when changing food. I'll try to repair when I have a chance to move the birds to a holding cage. So far they really seem to like the space and are actively flying back and forth in cage. ... show more

  • Great cage!....long, but comprehensive REVIEW!
Style: Standard Size: Small
This is a great cage IF YOU KNOW the secret to assemble it correctly. I originally bought this in a medium size and had struggled for over an hour and it never felt sturdy, so it was returned to Amazon and I went with another choice. I recently read William C. Coughlin's review on assembly....so I decided to give it another shot and purchased the smaller version as I only have a solo parakeet. Assembly took only 10 minutes and it is now solid and STURDY. Now, for my thoughts on the Vision Cage itself: 1) The small size is best for finches, canaries or a single parakeet. It would definitely be too small for a Cockatiel. The medium would be ideal for a Cockatiel or two Parakeets (imho) 2) The food cups are generously sized and ease of access to them is great. They sit on a custom base so they won’t move out of position or be tipped over by an over-active bird AND they will be LOCKED into position when you close the hatch. Accessing those lower hatches from the outside is very convenient and so easy. So far, the shields above have done a good job of keeping out any debris from the food and water dishes. 3) The base has 4 (strong) non-slip corner grippers on the bottom that will keep the cage safe from any bumps or slippage. 4) The perches are just mediocre (I am only using one of the two included) but, their design is very easy to attach and detach if you wish to reposition them. 5) The lower clear base is super easy to detach and clean. I personally have paper liners under the grate to make things even simpler. Initially, I thought I would miss the drawer style cages that I was used to....but this IS so much better! It is also much more sanitary (being one solid piece), it is effortless to give it a water rinse & dry if indicated. The side latches (to detach the base) when opened, will stay in the up position and out of the way! Everything is well thought out! 6) The wire grate even gently locks into place and requires a slight pressure to lift it up and out. 7) The cage is not too heavy if you need to move it around. It has 2 indentations (on the side/shorter ends) to naturally grab for lifting. 8) Most importantly this design is really working to keep the mess inside as advertised! 9) The doors are great! I love the flexibility of facing open to the inside or outside. Just be careful when unlocking. Hold the plastic locks/knobs firmly, as once unlocked, there is nothing supporting the door and it could easily "fall" to the inside and possibly harm your birdie! 10) This is the EASIEST cage I have ever owned to keep clean! I can never go back to any standard cages. The doors remain perfectly flat when they open to the inside of the cage (they included a stopper in the design), but when the doors are opened to the outside they just angle down. (maybe that is easier for the birds if flying back to the cage??) My bird prefers it flat, so, I have added little bells on BOTH of the doors . They are $3-4 on amazon (JW Pet Activitoys Bell Bird Toy, Small) and are perfect to hold the doors flat (see pics) *It should be noted: the top grate is only attached from its middle section within a “framed” top section. This means if too much pressure is exerted on either of the two ends, they could possibly bend/dip. (This could be an issue if you have a cat or child that might push on the top of the cage) Although, it shouldn’t be a problem for most ....but it should be mentioned. Overall....I think it is a well designed cage with practical usage in mind. Everything feels solid and quality made (with the exception of the perches that are just “meh”) I really hope the plastic locks will hold up well over time. I have seen replacement knobs selling online if that ever becomes an issue. As for price.....I feel $70 for the small version seems a bit steep. It really should be more reasonably priced at about $50 (but that's my opinion) The design of detaching the base works extremely well for me, as my parakeet is tamed and has outside flight time. I clean the cage when is he out and perching on my windowsills. For those with birds that may not be let out.....you would have to exercise more caution and decide whether or not, a slide out tray might be a better option for you. The base detaches between the white tray portion and the clear debris guard. The white bottom tray is exactly 3" in height, so you would need to lift the cage at least 4" in order to detach it for cleaning. VERY doable even if birds are inside.....but you have to make that decision. Personally......this cage is a true game changer and I'll never go back to standard cages! ...and one last thing: a previous reviewer said there is a gap where the side panels of the cage come together. That is not my experience at all. The gap (when assembled correctly) measures exactly similar to the width of the 4 side panel “spacing” bars. No more/no less. There is no issue or concern whatsoever. ... show more

  • Very easy to clean.
Style: Standard Size: Large
I love this cage. At first I thought it was a little strange to have the food and water dishes positioned on the floor until I learned more about budgies and realized that they are naturally ground feeders. I have the stainless steel dish in there for them to bathe in. They haven’t liked anything else. I had the smaller version of this cage when I only had one budgie but needed the larger one with the new addition. It is so easy to clean! Just unclip the cage from the base and set it aside with the birds still inside. I just use a few paper towels under the grate to catch their waste, a nylon brush to scrub the grate and the hard part is over. I use the hand vac to get any remaining food pellets/treats off the bottom and then wipe it down along with the inside of the clear plastic shield and it’s ready to go back together. I love that I don’t have food and feathers everywhere. I have had other cages in the past but this is by far my favorite. Blue and Gracie get plenty of exercise when they get out of their cage each day. They currently only have two perches, a swing and some toys in there but I always switch it up for them. I think they like their house as much as I do. ... show more

  • Good but HARD
Style: Tall Size: Medium
Really nice cage but absolutely terrible to put together. I got the large green one and the instructions missed half of the assembly. Took me about an hour to put together after u started figuring it out by studying the picture of it assembled. No gaps or large areas bird could get out. As long as you do it right, it’s a good cage. USE THE PICTURE ON HERE AS A REFERENCE OR YOU WILL NOT FINISH IT ... show more

  • Functional Cage
Style: Tall Size: Medium
I put this together by myself. Some parts were a little harder than others, but I figured it out. It's easier to clean than other cages. My favorite features are the feeders and the poop guard that is over them. My birds love their new cage, and so do I!
