    • Exceeded Expectations
The 56mm F1.4 is the second lens I purchased from Viltrox for my Fuji X-mount camera and like the 85mm F1.8 it has exceeded expectations. Now I am not a professional photographer, or a pixel peeper, but I have worked in the arts as an illustrator for over twenty-five years. This lens gives me all the qualities I am seeking in telling an interesting story with my images, good color accuracy, decent sharpness, and nice bokeh. It performs well when autofocusing too. Not sure I could tell the difference between the Fuji version and the image this lens produces. It focuses very well for photos---alas, I don't shoot photos---just video. It would be great for that---even better than the Fuji IF the manual focus were not focus by wire---a way of manual focusing that makes consistent focus pulls impossible. Give us a true manual focus lens along with the excellent AF and I'll come back and give it five stars. ... show more

I am blown away by the quality of this lens. It is solidly built, came nicely packaged, and has great optics. The autofocus is fast, quiet, and effective, and the color rendering is right on. For the price I was skeptical of the quality of this lens but it has been great so far. The autofocus isn’t lightning fast but is solid! Has about the perceived speed of my 18-55 kit lens from Fuji I didn’t measure anything though. The image quality is great, I’m sure the Fuji 56mm is sharper but by a hair. The bokeh looks great for portrait sessions and is definitely pleasing. Build quality is solid surprisingly so, feels a little lighter than a Fuji lens but is solid built. The only thing I wish this lens had was weather sealing but that isn’t enough to remove a star really. The 56mm 1.2 doesn’t have it either. ... show more

Great autofocus, solid build, beautiful picture quality. There is a little bit of chromatic aberration up close at high-contrast areas but it doesn’t seem to be an issue without zooming in to your photo. I have not tried the Fuji 56mm but this one is 1/3 the price and certainly good enough for me.
