  • Fantastic, quality design for small spaces
My wife and I bought this for our short school bus (5 windows long) that we converted into our COVID-era home on wheels. It was absolutely perfect! The first thing to note is the size if this: it was small enough to fit in the corner of our school bus. Its footprint fitt perfectly on a cookie tray, which we set up to swivel on a nail into the floor on the same axis as the flue/chimney. This was ENORMOUSLY space-saving. I will try to upload photos later. The design and construction is very high quality. The biggest limitation is that the firebox is quite small. While this is par for the course of having a wood stove in a short skoolie, it means you're going to break down firewood quite thoroughly. If you buy firewood at the supermarket, you'll likely have to saw each piece in half and split down the middle. In line with this, you have to feed wood into this stove pretty regularly lest it go out. This is partly due to the firebox size, and partly because its thin guage sheet metal walls do not retain heat for long. Our bus was admittedly fairly drafty, though with this wood stove, anything below 40 degrees wasn't terribly comfortable even with this stove. In such times, we felt a bit more like we were cold-weather camping, so get under your covers! For temperatures above 40, like in the evening, the stove made our bus very cozy, and we loved cooking on it. Summary: absolutely perfect for a short school bus, intelligent design and sturdy yet lightweight design. One more thing: the flue/chimney is pretty light gauge. Because of this, if you don't keep an eye on the flue, and be sure to tinker with the front air inlet grille and the flue damper. OTHERWISE THE FLUE MIGHT START GLOWING RED HOT. Lastly, another important thing: the included flue damper is basically useless as-is. There is no way to keep it in position. Our fix was this: to cut out a hole in the bus ceiling, we ordered a hole saw that included a little spring. This little spring fit perfectly on the flue damper, applying another force to keep the damper oriented as open/closed as needed. Also, you might want to invest in a spark arrester of "hat" to keep rain out of the flue. ... show more

  • Does Its Job
Came as expected. Bought to use in my 10x12 canvas tent and it was just fine. After a burn in run, I set it up in the tent on a 35 degree night and a half hour into the burn it was plenty warm in the tent. Easily throws enough heat. With firebox loaded and damper closed down probably get 2-3 hours of burn pending what wood your going with. When I used some really nice split and dried wood I didn't have any problems with the smoke escaping out the door. Tried using sticks that dropped during our last thunderstorm and those I had trouble getting to fire up and they threw a lot of white smoke escaping from the front door frame. I did pick up a rope gasket just to seal it up a bit tighter which I will be adding but wouldn't totally be necessary. Stovepipe is probably around 7' tall and it all fits into the stove and packs away nicely. I am looking to get a spark arrestor for it and wish that it would've came with one to protect my tent investment. Overall, seems to work just fine. I looked at several options and couldn't justify spending the extra $200 on the higher models with similar features. This isn't super heavy duty or super lightweight but for the couple weekends I year that I'll want a hot tent this will do the job. ... show more

  • Eh ok
Its an ok stove. Should i have had the $400 to buy a winnerwell stove i would have. The grate is only 3/4" off the bottom. In time with the heat its busts the bottom seams. I raised it to 1 1/2" off the bottom. I flipped the grate upside down and centered it. I put self tappers in the sides to hang it. That allowed better air flow. I also took gasket rope around the edging tween the door and stove body. The 1 thing that did annoy me asf was the top plate. If you can weld it shut DO IT. Everytime i moved coals around to help the fire the top kept getting hit and opening putting smoke in my tent. That small of a stove who tf needs that? STUPID!! AND of course who tf puts the piping upside down? Least include a hose clamp to tighten the damper pipe to the stove. The chimney is wobbly asf so buy a damper with tie downs. Ive seen videos that are not even 6 months old and people paid $40 less then being asked now. Wtf... i give 3 stars $140 HA To the review about it smoking up the tent. ALWAYS DO CHEM BURN WHEN GETTING. Also im sure they didnt use tie downs to help straighten the chimney. In all i DO NOT recommend this stove less you want something cheap. That top plate is really stupid its not needed other then to annoy you. The glass blacked out after 1 use so whats the point in having it. ... show more

  • Great little stove for small spaces
Great little stove The stove definitely isn't made to heat large places but for what it is it does a really good job and I can't really complain about it at all. I put one full Presto log into it and it burns for nearly 2.5 hours and nearly 6 hours if I throw a 2nd Presto log in before the coals are too far gone. It's obvious, your not going to get the same kind of quality out of this stove as you would a real 600 plus dollar cast iron wood stove but in my opinion you definitely can't go wrong with this little stove. The stove is definitely light weight and the legs are very sturdy. The single complaint I have is the fact the stove pipe isn't double layered but regardless of that it does perform exceptionally well and does not leak any smoke what so ever. If your like me and your worried about the removal top plate warping I'm happy to inform you mine has not warped which is awesome. I'd most definitely buy it again and again and for small spaces maybe 50 to 100 square feet in size. yes I'd recommend it for sure. To the manufacturer: Thank you for good reliable product. ... show more

  • The chimney stem
This little thing is fun and works well. However I have to advise not to put the first section of chimney unto the stove too tight. As after the stove has been used. The two sections expand with the heat and kinda weld themselves together. Which makes it very hard to get them apart again. And like me ended up breaking the weld points holding the chinney collar I place It is fixable if you have repair knowledge ... show more
