I had a bread knife for years and the serrations wore out and I bought a highly rated $14 bread knife from Amazon about 6 months ago and all my bread knife did was rip apart my bread loaves or squish my bread when I tried to use a no name bread knife with a 4.8 rating and 100s of good reviews. I finally gave in and bought this Victorinox, which I didn't want to buy because it was $26. I had been using a Victorinox serrated paring knife to to cut my bread but a 4" blade was not long enough to cut most bread loaves. Gosh what a difference THIS EXCELLENT Victorinox bread knife makes in cutting fine slices of bread that doesn't mush or tear my bread loaves when I cut a slice. I should have bought this expensive but very excellent bread knife in the first place, instead of thinking I could cheap out on a no name brand. I highly recommend this Victorinox bread knife, despite its high price.

Slices sourdough bread with ease. Grips the bread, cuts right through. I'm embarrassed that I've been sawing through my homemade sourdough bread crust for the last four months with such a dull knife. I'm going to bake more sourdough, just so I can use the knife. I have a four other Victorinox knives that are over 20 years old. Quality products.

I bought this knife to compliment my Zo mini bread machine. It has performed like a champ. My slices are exactly the size I aim to cut and they are straight as an arrow. It slices loaves without tearing it up or smashing it in the slicing process. And, the best part about the knife is that it is so sharp that it cuts meat, fruits, veggies, crusty loaves, and other foods with sheer ease. Who needs an electric knife to carve a turkey when you have this? It is now my all-purpose go-to knife in the kitchen. I prefer it over all my others. Caution : Be careful - this knife is sharp! I've had a nick or two. I hand wash it (no dish washer) to keep it nice and in top condition as with all my high-quality kitchen cookware and tools that I want to outlive me and be handed down for generations in my family. This is an excellent product by Victorinox. I would certainly buy this knife again and give it as gifts as well. I will be investing in their extended line.

Decent cheap knife. Our Wusthof knife is getting dull (after a LONG time) and I just needed an interim knife for the immediate future. This one is ok. It is sharp and cuts well BUT if the bread (homemade with a nice solid crust) crust is too crunchy the blade will actually flex - this is not great. I'm going to use this for now, but likely will give it away once I get a better quality blade.

Despite the low cost, this serrated bread knife is probably the best I have ever owned. The black plastic handle may not be glamourous but it offers stability, heft, and a good grip. The blade is extremely sharp; it cuts through soft tomatoes easily plus it also easily handles hearty, tough country bread. I've had this knife for six or eight months and it is still going strong. I anticipate a long life. If you don't know this, you do need to wash it (and any good knife) quickly after use and immediately dry it with a clean, soft cloth. Do not put it in the dishwasher or leave it around with food bits clinging to it. If you can't hand wash it immediately, at least rinse it under hot water, dry it with a towel and set it aside in a dry spot until you can. Whether for soft or hard foods, this knife is a true workhorse. It's quite amazing, actually, when you think about the extremely high quality you get, especially given the more-than-reasonable price. I highly recommend this.

Victorinox knives with stamped blades and plastic handles are not glamorous but they are lightweight, easy to use ergonomic cutting tools made with high quality materials. This bread knife is a perfect example. At $25.17 it cuts as well as any fancy bread knife costing $100.00. Comes with a useable plastic sheath. Victorinox knives are a superior choice for any cook with a limited budget. They do not disappoint.
