I really like the BladeSafe and I think it is one of the best products made. My main kitchen knives are a paring knife and a 240mm gyuto. I own multiple of each. Cutting blocks really are not practical, wooden sayas are expensive and are not very practical, knife wraps take up a lot of space and take a while to use, and generic cardboard protectors just don't cut it. Some of my more expensive gyutos are over $500, so it is very important to me that they not bang up against other blades given the damage that can occur. So enter the BladeSafe (which is branded under a few different names, including Victorinox like the product here). It literally locks on to the blade, contains material that pads the blade and stops it from moving around inside the case, and then the knife and the BladeSafe become one until you remove it. Putting the knife in, locking the BladeSafe, and unlocking it are all easy tasks. The hardware is strong: it is made to last years. It's also capable of different cleaning methods as it holds up to most anything. These BladeSafes do NOT come undone on themselves, slip a little, or fail to protect the knife in certain circumstances. More or less, you install this right and your knife is protected. At the same time, you don't have to worry about this damaging the finish on your knife as the design is well-made to ensure it does not harm the cosmetic finish of the blade. For traveling, these things are also great. Built to withstand usage, cleaning, shock, etc., these are built to hold up to the sometimes continuous beating that life can dish out. I have dropped a knife with one of these on and, thanks to the BladeSafe, no damage happened. If it was the knife only, one of two things would have occurred: the tip breaks or I get a free piercing through my foot. Disaster averted for 7 bucks. That's quite a bargain if you ask me!

I received a chef quality chef's knife for Christmas. It's SO sharp and needs the best protection possible. This knife case is perfect. It's made of a very heavy plastic, and it snaps in place, keeping the blade of the knife entirely protected. The knife doesn't move around at all, and I believe it would protect the knife even if it fell. I highly recommend.

I am very happy with these knife protectors. I purchased them for my new Victorinox 8" chef's knife and they fit it like a glove. I also have a new Victorinox flexible boning knife that they do not fit unfortunately. The blade is simply too narrow on the boning knife to fit this particular size BladeSafe. My biggest concern was the chef's knife however, and to that end, these work perfectly. They do leave small marks on the knife blade from the rubber pads inside the case - the pads keep the blade in place. It is purely cosmetic however and they rubbed of with a swipe of my finger. They did not bother me at all. I was more concerned that my incredibly sharp knife was not banging around in my knife drawer waiting to slice my fingers. These covers seem to be well made, they lock and unlock easily, they fit my knife well and they are cheap.

I purchased this for my 10" chef's knife. It fits perfectly and I can leave my knife out on the counter. The only draw back is that it makes the knife rather bulky, so if you have a lot of items in a drawer, this takes up extra room. The BladeSafe opens like a clam shell for easy cleaning, something you cannot do with a standing blade box or sheath, and has two locking tabs so it won't open accidentally. It does an excellent job of protecting the knife as the black tabs on the side of the plastic cover keep the knife from moving around by gripping the sides of the blade. I gave it 4 stars because if you have a narrow bladed knife (like a fillet knife) the knife might slip out or shift around as the back end of this holder depends on the butt of the knife blade extending below the handle. I will be buying another one of these. I hope that one day, they make one for a meat cleaver!

I took a cooking course and didn't want to buy a full roll at one extreme or take my knives (2 of them) naked or towel wrapped on the other. This was a great compromise. I bought one and very quickly bought another. It fits all my 8 in knives, stays securely fashioned and definitely protects the knives. I'm guessing it'd fit most shapes in this length category unless you have something like a fillet knife that isn't broad enough and slips out or something really wide like a specialty knife. I generally use it for my 8" global or 8" Mac. It would also fit several others I own, however. No durability problems thus far. Snaps still work like they did the first time although I've only used them a little less than a dozen times, so I don't know how much that really says. Easy to clean...I can't remember whether or not this claims to be dishwasher safe, but as far as I'm concerned, it is. I like using it...definitely the best way to haul around single knives.

These are perfect for storing your knives, rather in a knife roll or a drawer. Dry the knives well before storing. They clamp down on the blade to ensure they blades don't slide around.
