  • A good persimmon stick to own
Style: Ted Atkatz I
A great feeling stick with more weight towards the back for sensitivity when needed, despite the size of the stick itself (somewhere between an old 1S or 2S, for those familiar with rare stick sizes of the past). Obviously an excellent snare stick for all around use, and I've even used it on set (as Atkatz himself has) for tom heavy passages, and it actually rides well. ... show more

  • Finally!
Style: Ted Atkatz I
Since I resumed playing the drums in 2020 after a nearly 40-year hiatus, I have searched for the optimal drumstick. I have tried dozens of sizes and multiple types of wood and tips. None felt or sounded exactly the way I wanted until I tried the Atkatz signature sticks. Made from persimmon, they are thick enough for my arthritic hands to manipulate, yet light enough to move around the kit with ease. The teardrop tip--unusual for a 6"+ diameter stick--is so much more responsive than the ball tips that most thicker sticks feature. My chops have improved significantly in the few weeks that I have used the Atkatz sticks. If you are an older drummer (I am 71) who has difficulty controlling standard-size sticks, this is the stick for you. ... show more

  • LOVE
Style: Ted Atkatz I
These are the real deal and my son hasn’t put them down since I bought them. They are his first choice to play with every time.

  • great stick for concert band snare drum work
Style: Ted Atkatz I
Love these for concert snare drum applications. Not a drum set nor marching band stick as cymbals and rim shots will damage the sticks

  • These Are THE Concert Snare Sticks
Style: Ted Atkatz I
If you want something with excellent hand feel, weight distribution and a characteristic warm, deep sound when playing concert snare, you have come to the right pair. Persimmon is the best wood and is usually reserved for very fine and expensive sticks but Vic Firth has offered this pair for a great value. ... show more

  • Their durability is good, handling rimshots like a pro
Style: Ted Atkatz I
While in high school I used VF SD1s for almost all of my symphonic and concert band playing. After a 15 year break I was needing new sticks before going to my first rehearsal with a community symphonic band. After adding a pair of SD1s to my shopping cart I saw the ad for these Ted Atkatz Signature sticks and added them as well. After a full season practicing and performing I must say that my SD1s look practically brand new because I only used them for the random cymbal crashes when the crash cymbal player was 'running behind' or for the cowbell/temple blocks. The Ted Atkatz sticks are now the first sticks I pull from my bag and the last I put away. Dynamically these sticks are controllable from PP to FFF (if I'm playing articulate PPP or PP for a long period I switch to Tim Genis Leggiero). Their durability is good, handling rimshots like a pro. My only complaint is my fellow percussionist have grabbed them out of my pocket when they have 'misplaced' their sticks and are reluctant to give them back. Though I'm not concerned with them breaking I am purchasing a second pair to keep in my stick back, just in case. ... show more

  • Get them now, use them throughout
Style: Ted Atkatz I
Get them now and they should last through middle and high school. Or at least that is what I was told.

  • Great sricks, great results
Style: Ted Atkatz I
When I asked my middle school Grandson what he wanted for his birthday, he requested these sticks without hessitation. He's gone on to become 1st chair in his district and regional contests. He said these sticks are the best.
