Description
The 84P is exactly the same compressor as our 85P but with a press-on chuck instead of a twist-on chuck. It has the same power and performance capable of inflating up to 31-inch tires by simply plugging into your cigarette lighter power port (14.5 amps max.). Connect the press-on tire chuck to a tire valve stem before turning the unit on. Tire pressure can be Monitored using the gauge incorporated into the top of the unit.

This is a fantastic air compressor. Its surprisingly quiet for what it does, and inflates very quickly. I've only used it a few times, so I don't have an in depth review, but overall very impressed by it. The pressure cage (with the compressor off) seems to report accurately (compared to my digital pressure cage). Its very light, comes with a nice storage bag and is the perfect thing I needed to "air up" my Subaru Forester's tires after driving on soft sand in the desert. The one thing to keep in mind is this device needs to run when the car engine on, and plugged into at least a 15A fuse accessory port. Most "center instrument panel" cigarette lighter plug accessory panels are fused at 10A and they WILL blow if you run this unit there. Fortunately my "center armrest console" accessory port is fused at 20A and works very well with this. Check the car's specs for what the ports are rated at. This is risky if you using this on multiple cars that you don't have this info. for (like your buddies your out on the trails with who may not know what their panels fuse ratings are). Do yourself a favor and get the direct battery clamps for this as well. If you're in doubt about the console amp rating, hook directly to the battery and avoid the headache of blown 10A fuses! Not something you want to deal with off-road when you're trying to air back up.

Any headline using “blow” is just cheesy. This is a very good little compressor. No, you aren’t going to run your nailer with it. No, you cannot inflate the 40” mudders on your Jeep. But you won’t have to change a tire on your F-150 in the pouring rain while cars zip past you at 80mph. Not if you have this and a can of Fix-a flat. Nor will you have to get up and drive to the gas station to blow up the tires on the kids bike. Does it get hot? While no sh*t! It’s a tiny little motor working it’s butt off. When you notice it getting hot, stop! Wait a few. Stick it under the a/c. Geez. No it doesn’t come with the battery cables, you don’t really need them. The fuse for your lighter is almost positively 15 amp or more, unless your car is as old as me. ( I was 4 when we landed on the moon) It is small, cheap and it just works. And it works very quietly. Can’t imagine what more you can ask. Toss some gloves, can of fix-a-flat and some pliers in the bag. Nothing worse than not being able to get a frozen valve cap off. I got a Rothco mechanic’s bag that fits everything plus the 6’ extension hose perfectly. Highly recommend. Thanks for reading Edit: I have to apologize. I have a buddy who tells me that he does in fact use this on his 40” mudders. I stand corrected. Even better than I thought. 8/12/18. Today I had to remove the wheel from my John Deere tractor and get the tire back on the bead. Saw a really cool trick on You tube using a ratchet strap. Works like a charm! But thank goodness I had this guy handy. Got a crappy job done in no time. Damn good investment.

Over the years I have had several portable air compressors manufactured by different companies. On paper this one looked exceptional and I have had it for a little over a year. Recently it stopped working and I discovered the guts to the part that goes into the cigarette lighter had fallen out. This resulted in frying the cigarette lighter in my new BMW, that in itself is its own story and expense that I won't belabor here. I called the manufacture and requested replacement part(s), with the first attempt they sent it to the wrong address. I called again and they reshipped the part(s), it turns out that there is a small spring, a fuse, a collar, a threaded collar (with only a few threads so it disengages with a couple of turns of the collar) and a button, but no diagram as to the order that the parts should be assembled. During the process of attempting to assemble I lost the fuse. Again called them and they agreed to send a new fuse with an assembly diagram, today I received the fuse but no diagram. So I will call them again tomorrow. The pump is great, the custom service is incredibly disappointing.

A really wonderful unit. The simple use of this will probably allow you to add another 20 to 30% of life to your vehicle if you use it and check weekly My Sunday afternoon or Monday morning starts with a pressure check. Today with few places to get air for your car/truck or bicycle, and sometimes the station unit is broken, cost tokens or quarters and sometimes does not even meet the demands of a passenger car tire (35 psi norm) ) much less the needs of a road bike using 95 to 100 psi. This is one of the reasons I decided to start carrying my own. own. I also will be camping with my 8 year old granddaughter and I don't want to be stuck for something as lame as a low or even flat tire. I go places where AAA and my other Emergency Road Service fear to tread. IMPORTANT INFORMATION...Run the vehicle when using.. HERE IS WHY. It is unlikely that the unit will run your battery down while topping off your vehicle tires. HOWEVER the speed of the pump is a lot faster (easily noticed) when the full 20 amps is available from your alternator. This unit requires clip to the battery. POSITIVE FIRST..A 12vdc cigarette lighter will not be sufficient to run without blowing the fuse. In line fuse will be easy to replace if it does. If you air down tires for any soft surface (sand) you must have this to top off when you hit the pavement. I have read the specs on the more robust units from VIAIRE ands this seems to be the very best bang for the buck. 125 PSI @ < $60.00 You simply can not go wrong. VIAIR has an EXCELANT reputation and a great product in the 88P. NOTE...When filling smaller volume tires like a bicycle tire @95 PSI Small volume with bike tires so any loss can be significant when removing the fill connector. I prefer the thread on barrel design over the clip on for the valve. A personal preference since it ALWAYS seats correctly the first time. I find that the problem most occurs with clamp on with the higher pressuree of the bike tire.
