Worked better than expected. Had 29" wide logs cut, and this worked like a dream on the 16" pieces. Saved me from bending over, and saved me on Chiropractor visits. My only doubt is that the screws will come lose and fall in the woods. If they had a hole in the bold, and one could pin the nut on it.. I'd feel this would be perfect. I bought a 2nd small one for small logs.. as it will work better for such sized logs. Otherwise, I'd suggest have a bag of a few extra bolts and nuts handy.. for future use.

I got this for Father’s Day, and my dad actually loved it. He said it was easier to lift the logs because it saved him energy and he didn’t have to bend as much which is great when you live at 10,000+ft elevation and you have a bad back. It was also helpful for the sheer quantity of logs we had to move. We didn’t have any issues with the nuts coming loose. The majority of our logs were 11 inches and up on at least one side. It does grip the log well. You can tell if the claw has it before you lift it too. Once lifted, it didnt fall out of the claw. You could get two, one for each hand, but with the big and heavy logs, my dad was using this tool with 2 hands to lift, though it does only require 1 hand to open and operate.

First, the good. These are very heavy duty and well built. Now the bad. Should be easy assembly. Should be. After spending to much time trying to "be sure to match the stickers" I stared at the rather bad photographs in the instructions. The must match stickers were on the wrong matching parts. That sucked. Ignore the stickers and works perfectly.

I purchased these to aid in positioning railroad ties here at our farm. We recently purchased 200 premium grade railroad ties. They weigh upwards of 200 lbs each and are 8.5 feet long. These tongs have helped me greatly in positioning them in place once we drop them with the machines. The tongs are easy to operate, sturdy, and make one handed dragging of logs or ties possible. The tips are very sharp points and can bend if you are careless with them. A proper hit with a hammer on the anvil bent it back.
