I am a college professor specialized in environmental crop physiology. We purchased commercial-grade growth light from other companies before, which cost way over $1k per piece and a lot of them had quality issues and eventually the brightness fade off over time. Gave this light a try and used a scientific-grade PAR (photosynthetic active radiation) sensor and realized that this unit can put out about 1200 to 1300 µmol m-2 s-1 on full power, which is more powerful than our $1k light, which only gives 700 µmol m-2 s-1. Just to put in perspective, 1200-1500 is almost full-sun condition outdoor. I need to find out how long they can last, but as of now, cannot be more happier.

First off. I love that the ballast is raised off the light. You could technically move it to the outside of the tent if you’re handy with wiring but I wouldn’t recommend it. It has solid hanging mounts that I don’t worry about and it’s very bright. I don’t doubt the wattage. It doesn’t get overly hot either. Solid light at a solid price. It doesn’t feel cheaply made at all and the panel is nice and thick.

I bought this from home depot under a different name svopes 400w led for $167 first grow with it seeds germinating currently im ready to see how this works out I get a 1600 pffd off the reading at 100% about as much as the 300w bloom plus I have with amazing results the only issue I had was I ran out of height and the buds touched the light if all else fails I will end up just ziptieing this light directly to the cross bars at the top. Wish me luck

We're really just starting to play around with indoor growing vs our current traditional outdoor garden. I love the idea of being able to get a jump start on the growing season by having seeds up to a smaller plant inside and transplanting outside early to extend the growing season. HOWEVER, I'm also interested in eventually building a set-up to grow at least some veggies year long. We have an unfinished space in our basement that leaves plenty of space for a future setup. For now, this light has been doing a great job of growing some trinidad scorpion pepper plants. Last year at the veeeeeery end of the season I harvested the last pepper from a small, late season, store bought plant that was on clearance, and I threw all the seeds in a pot for funsies to see if they would grow. Well, they ALL grew…. And left me scrambling to put together some materials to make sure I could keep them alive and growing through the winter. I managed to kill a few when they were super young from not paying attention and letting them get too dry (had way too many anyway, so no worries there!) But since transplanting them and getting them under a better light and in something that won't dry out so fast, they are doing REALLY well! I love that the light already comes with pulleys to make changing the height super simple. The dimming option is fantastic as well. While the light doesn't come with a timer, a simple smart plug fixed that. I like that we could easily get another of these and daisy chain them together if we wanted to in the future. Looking forward to building some stands and hydroponic set-ups in the future to really put this thing to use!

When I got it it was $280 which is pricy for a single tent light. However, it seems to have dropped considerably in price to around $200 which I think is decent for a HPS alternative. There aren't particularly many features compared to other LED grow lights of this price range though. The VEVOR LED grow light for a 5x5 ft tent is a big bulky thing. It is not like your conventional grow lights that are small and easy to hang. This panel weighs a tad over 18 lbs, being solidly made of aluminum sheeting. It has a lot of LEDS and all of them work, with no dead or dim LEDS. The LEDS are a mix of different spectrums, for a "full spectrum" when put together. If you thought the details in the ad meant you can adjust the overall color spectrum between warm and cool, there is no such option and it's just a full daylight color. Some of my LED grow lights do have the option of switching between vegetative and flowering spectrums but this does not. There is only the option of changing the intensity of the light with the knob. The LED grow light can adjust between 4 different levels of light intensity, excluding off. The dial clicks into 4 different brightness settings, with different wattage draws for each. The lowest setting stabilizes at and draws 113 watts, the second 211 watts, the third 312 watts, and the fourth at 405 watts. As you may expect from a LED panel this big, it delivers a lot of light and can basically turn a room at night into day, to the extent that turning on and off the ceiling lights make no visible difference. If you have a good number of plants indoors, you can hang this about 8 feet high and over a 15 x 15ft area for plants that don't need too intensive of a light, such as plants you're overwintering. If you want active healthy growth, mostly the plants directly under the grow light will have the most exposure. This will definitely light up a 5x5 ft grow tent with reflective walls and keep your plants happy. It is pricy for a grow light though so take that into consideration when weighing the costs and benefits. There aren't many bells and whistles to this, such as timer functions, spectrum adjustments, or remote controls so it is essentially a basic light unit.
