Easy installation if your mechanical as the written instructions are pretty worthless, but the pictures can help. The verbiage used is a poor translation to English from I'm assuming the Chinese manufacturer. The only thing I don't like is it takes about 9 full turns clock to clock that's allot of turning of wheel for little effect on rudder. (outboard motor) They refer to the motor as a (rudder) Take time to purge the air by fixing a bottle above the fill port and slowly turn wheel back and forth until all air bubbles are gone. BTW the one I ordered from amazon never showed up so I ordered one directly from Vevor and it showed up in a few days also it took weeks to get a refund from Amazon once they lost my order. I would by this directly from Vevor they answer the phone and shipped my Item same day. ... show more

Set name: 300hp With 24'hose
The 2024 season will be the 3rd year this kit has been in service on my boat. My only complaint with it is it does take more turns lock to lock than the Sea-Star. I can’t remember exactly how many now, I believe it is six turns. When I first installed it I thought this would be very annoying but I no longer notice it. The kit has worked flawless, have not had any leaks squeaks or problems. I have put roughly 250 hours on it in only salt water and other than the paint fading slightly it still looks the same as the day I installed it. That being said I am meticulous about washing down my entire boat after every use and oiling everything with Corrosion X or Fluid Film at the end of every season. I believe with the amount of savings this kit provides, it is a very good value. ... show more

I purchased this on 8/31/2025. It is a decent product until you needs parts for it. Installation was simple. The fill cap cracked (6/27/2026) and oil was all over the floor. Their website does not have a parts breakdown or a spare parts page. Customer service is not easy to deal with either. As of 7/11/2026, they tell me that I have another 2 weeks until my replacement part arrives. Update; 7/29/2026 customer service will no longer communicate with me about the whereabouts of the defective part that is still under warranty. In order to use my boat I finally had to buy the part myself. I purchased the SeaStar Solutions HP6126 Vented Plug. MUCH better quality and I'm back on the water. I will never buy another product with the VEVOR name on it. They don't stand behind their products and they are not easy to deal with. ... show more

I wanted to add a center console to my 24' river boat, and this was an economical solution. My Mercury outboard came with controls for speed and forward/reverse, but not for steering. This hydraulic kit was just what I needed.
