This wheel is pretty good, it is well polished which looks like it will resist rusting, although the devil is in the details. The knob is stiff due to plastic bushings inside and the design makes it hard to fix,I will eventually have to buy stainelss bearings to smooth it up. The joint between the wheel and spokes will allow water in and could rust as well. The knurling on the back of the wheel seems like it was stamped into the metal too. Overall this seems to be a good product but if you appreciate quality, it would be best to pass this by.

I bought this steering wheel to replace my destroyer (5 spoke) style wheel on my 2012 Roablo R200 that lacked a steering knob. Previously, I tried three different clamp on steering knobs on my old wheel, and none of them fit properly - even the $100 Edson. The steering wheel itself is very nice looking and it's a perfect fit for my Seastar helm. It could not have been easier to swap out the old wheel for this one. It tightens down nicely with the included cap. The wheel is much nicer to look at than the old destroyer wheel IMO. Here's where the price becomes important. The steering knob is cheap. It rotates on some plastic nylon washer inserts, not ball bearings. It will never be as smooth as a ball bearing unit. That being said, it does rotate and allow the benefits of a steering knob; it just takes a bit more effort to overcome friction. I especially like the placement of this knob inside the steering wheel. There's less chance of wacking yourself when turning hard over since it doesn't protrude as far. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase for the price. Time will tell how long the knob will last. The wheel is great. I just wish they could have spent a few more $ on a ball bearing knob. I'd be willing to pay more for that.

Bought this for my 2017 Robalo R180 to replace the stock steering wheel. I have the Baystar steering and it fit perfectly. I did wrap the nut with a piece of cloth to prevent it from getting scratched when I tightened it on.

My old steering wheel was vinyl clad and covered with mildew. I couldn't get the mildew off and didn't want that to have it happen again, so I went with this one in stainless steel. It really dressed up the pontoon boat and gives it a better look. I also like the attachment point for the knob. I think it's nicer and stronger on the spoke. The knob also makes it very easy to do a lock to lock turn. I have a Teleflex steering wheel and mine has a 5/8" nut, so this fits perfectly. I had to send 2 other steering wheels back because they said they fit a Teleflex, but they had 1/2" nuts. A half-inch nut wouldn't fit mine. I was able to measure my steering shaft with a ruler and the diameter from thread to thread was 5/8". I would say measure before you order.

Three spoke portion is cast, solid welds to the wheel underneath. Wheel feels very substantial. Suicide knob isn't ball bearing. But it'll be just fine. You won't be disappointed

The knob is tight hard to spin. I put some light 3in1 oil and used a towel to spin it back and forth now its lose and sloppy.
