  • Good value for the money.
Pattern Name: 16QT
I bought the 15L (16qt) size, and have been testing it at home. Its intended purpose was to keep a few basics cold over a weekend camping trip, so I needed something that could last 48 hrs on a charged battery power unit. PROs This device is efficient. For the geeks like me, it consumes about 25Wh/h. Running it off my 2kWh battery unit, it ran for just over 80h before depleting the battery (I had the temp set at 37F and it keeps stuff cold enough to give me an ice-cream headache if I drink the water too fast). I also have a smaller 300Wh power unit that can run the fridge for about 12 hrs, so that could come in handy for at least an overnight camping trip. One of the reviews stated that they ran it overnight on their car battery and everything was fine. I would not recommend doing that, after 8 hours the car battery would be depleted to a highly dubious point, especially if the battery is old and you really need that car to start the next day. I like that it has bluetooth app although that's functionally unnecessary - the controls on the panel are quite sufficient. Other reviews stated that it cools down very quickly. I found this also to be the case for mine, within 15 minutes it had dropped from ambient room temp to the low 40's. The capacity and dimensions are fine for smaller items - water bottles, cold cuts, condiments, pint-sized milk or creamer, produce in a bag, etc. I also like that it's very quiet. I saw another review where someone kept it under their bed, and was bothered by the noise. They must be an extremely light sleeper because I find that the device is whisper-quiet. Admittedly I live in a big city, and ambient noise is louder - I may update this review once I use it in a quieter location with less ambient noise. Also bearing in mind the device is brand new, and over time things can loosen up and get louder, so that's yet TBD. CONS: The container has enough space for short (weekend) camping trips, but the dimensions can be awkward - I like creamer in my coffee, and I buy it by the quart (box carton type). This does not fit in there standing up, and I don't want to lay it down and risk it leaking everywhere. So I either have to buy a pint sized creamer, or transfer some into a jar or other container that will fit. I consider this a "minor" problem, not a showstopper by any means, just a pet peeve. The controls are on top, facing up. If I'm going camping, I am usually packing duffel bags, tents and other gear at the same time, and this fridge needs to stay flat on the floor, so things get packed and fitted around and overtop of the fridge. The fridge itself is a sturdy build, and can easily handle the weight and knocking around of stuff on top of it, but there is a risk that control buttons could be inadvertently pushed. It would be disappointing to discover that the device switched off, or froze stuff, or warmed up after a long road trip to the destination. A flip-cover to protect the controls would be an easy product feature to incorporate. As mentioned, I set the device temperature at 37 degrees. If the container is mostly empty with just a few items in there, I see the digital readout temperature varies from 35 to 41 between cycling on and off. I'm not sure where the temp reading is being taken from, as I find it hard to believe that the cold contents of the fridge are varying in temperature the same way, it's far more likely that the contents remain at pretty much consistent temperatures. This is fine for me, but may not be ok for people who need finer temperature control. I have not independently measured the internal container temperature, and I expect that with more mass inside being kept cool, this fluctuation may level out - or maybe not, I have never packed the fridge to full capacity. Overall I think I made the right purchase. It's ideal for long road trips, or family camping trips. An affordable 300Wh battery-pack power supply can keep it running for about 12 hours after you've reached your destination. With a bit of wisdom, this will work for you just fine in these kinds of circumstances. ... show more

  • Major brand performance with inexpensive China cost - whats not to like?
Pattern Name: 10QT
Disclaimer: I own a slightly larger Dominic that I paid nearly 3-4x the price for a handful of years ago that has similar features (excepting it does not have BT control). - Plus among the smallest compressor freezer/fridges @ 10L and while costing 2-3x the 'cooler/warmer' type portable units, these compressor models will work at just about any temperature and work FAST. - Speaking of fast, I loaded up 4 bottles of water (71F) and set the unit for 34F and MAX. It cooled to the set point in a mere 30min!! Impressive! - Unit comes with BOTH a 12/24V cord for standard car (or power block) Lighter outlet AND a separate AC adapter cord (and power brick) that can be plugged into a household wall outlet. - Noise wise, it barely makes any while doing the cooling. - Given that just about everything is made in China these days, this unit offers similar (+more) features of more expensive brands at a fraction of the cost. - Minus: while it is a bit heavier than I was hoping my only gripe is that the 16oz water bottles I bought for it have to be set in on their side rather than standing up because of the lack of depth in the compartment. However 16oz and 12oz cans can be fitted standing up. - While the lid is described as 'latching' I was assuming there would be a level or button to press but it is only a 'friction' type (bumps on the lid) holding it closed. - I thought of grabbing a image of a poorly installed screw in the bottom which appears to have split the plastic case. Not a big deal but speaks to the workmanship of the unit. - The unit has 4 large circle indentations on the bottom that would be perfect for rubber feet, something that they could of included from the factory but at this price point it is understandable that they did not. Personally, I plan on having this unit travel with me on the passenger seat of my car or truck. When I have a companion it will plug in and set behind the front seats so my passenger can play 'drink tender' while traveling. After a bit of use/testing a few additional comments: With a set point of 34F and ~68-72F ambient around the unit it maintained 32-38F over a 14hr test period. It would seem that it over shoots a bit on the cooling and waits 3-4F before starting a cooling cycle. Just for kicks and grins I plugged it into a ~300Wh power brick during this time which drew ~40% of the bricks capacity over 14 hour period. (fridge/freeze set to 34F and ECO cooling) Granted I was not taking items in/out of it during this time and it was indoors, out of direct sun and my house was ~68-72F during this period. Users wishing to use a power brick to operate this unit would need to consider ether bricks with higher storage capacity and/or methods of replenishing the power bricks charge. Of note thankfully if the unit is ON, power cycling the source power (IE: unplugging and replugging the unit back in) the unit defaults to ON. So if using a switched car lighter output the fridge/freezer will automatically turn back on after refueling and/or cycling the car/truck on/off/on. *** 6/16/2024 Update *** Ok, I'll admit that I DO NOT use this 24/7 however it basically 'lives' on the passenger seat of my truck. With that said it gets used while traveling which amounts to a few hours a handful or more times a month. :) - The 'friction lock' on the lid was more annoying then useful so early on I grabbed a knife and cut the 'bumps' on the lid off so that it can be opened/closed freely+easy with one hand. - In my installation the cab has outlets in the front AND back seats so I just routed the power cord to the back seat outlet so I could use the dash outlet for other electronics. - While cute/novel the BT function is not something I used beyond the initial inspection/setup. - If I were to choose again I'd be looking at models where the beverages could be STANDING UP rather than laying down. I'll generally carry 3 types of beverages so to avoid 'digging' lay them inside A/B/C on top of A/B/C. :) My unit has lived an easy life on the passenger seat of my truck and turns on when ever I start my truck. No matter the ambient temp of the CAB it will cool the drinks inside the fridge/freezer to the set point < 30min. *** Warning Note *** While this MIGHT BE an issue with ALL "Compressor Fridge/Freezers" as they all have a similar fairly USELESS "low voltage disconnect" that is intended to protect your battery from over discharge. IMHO: from practical experience even the 'high' setting allows your vehicle battery to run to far down. Even worse is if you paired one of these devices with a LFP battery which has a discharge curve making even a +12.5V disconnect TO LATE!! These compressor fridge/freezers ought to be only used on a SWITCHED outlet (that turns OFF when the engine is not running!), watched/monitored carefully when the engine is not running OR simply UNPLUGGED when the engine is not running. I see that the price for the 10Qt has even DROPPED since I bought my copy. ... show more

  • It's a little small
Pattern Name: 10QT
Works great. Keeps everything cold. At least 30 to 40 degrees below ambient temp. It cools down fairly quickly as well. I've used it every day for the last 3 months with no issues.

  • great for picnics and traveling.
Pattern Name: 10QT
This will keep your beer ice cold and freeze ice cream. gets down to -4 degree fahrenheit. Best of all. On the high setting it only uses 32 watts of power. Your car battery will thank you. I used it to bring home a huge banana split from over 2hrs away. It stayed frozen solid all the way home.

  • Works well, a little small, wide deadband
Pattern Name: 16QT
Indoors I measured 25% duty cycle @ low power set at 48°F. Deadband turned on at 52, off at 48, coasted down to 46. Wider range than I expected. 16qt doesn't fit typical drink containers very well.

  • Unreliable
Pattern Name: 40QT
The temps are not consistent. Have to unplug unit to reset temps. How it goes from 36° to 16° when it's set at 29° to keep it in the low 30s is infuriating. I'm alone and rarely open it only to find all my food frozen solid and destroyed is too much. I'm beyond my window to return or I would.
