Love this door! We no longer have to worry about getting up early in the morning to let the chickens out or being home by a certain time at night to make sure they are safely closed up. This is battery operated but does come with wires if you want to connect it to a power source. We tested it in the house to make sure it would open and close as expected before installing it and now that it is on the coop it has made being a chicken caretaker so much easier. We still check it periodically to make sure it is working as we are not sure how long the batteries will last but it has been working for about a month like a charm. We plan on getting a second one because our coop has two entrances. ... show more

This chicken door works great. It was easy to install, easy to program and is very reliable. I installed mine 2 months ago and it hasn't failed once. Someone mentioned in a previous review that it eats up batteries. Well, it's been 2 months and I haven't had to replace the batteries yet. The only thing I don't like about it is that the description said it comes with an ac adapter... it came with something they're apparently calling an adapter, but it doesn't look like any adapter I've seen before. It's like an alligator clip with 2 wires coming out of it. I have no idea how it's supposed to work. But, the batteries are working fine. ... show more

Bought an expensive ($$!) one almost 2 years ago and it had issues. To the point that i took it off and just had it leaning on the fence for almost a year. Came across this one and figured it was a decent price and I can return it if it doesn't work. When i opened the box, I thought it was a bit flimsy but when I set it up, so far, the thing is great! Settings weren't too hard to figure out. It's nothing fancy, which may be a good thing cos then it won't crap out so fast. It's only been a month so who knows but now I don't have to get up early to let them out and make sure I'm home to lock them up. That's a win to me! Before even installing I could tell this was junk. The door is galvanized iron, but the tracks it slides in are pop riveted aluminum, and the pull-out control module that the gearing is attached to is plastic, so the gear doesn't seat rigidly in the door, but flexes away from the door because it's mounted on the plastic. Then because the track is aluminum there is so much drag (yes, even when perfectly leveled and plumbed) that the motor isn't strong enough to overcome the drag once the door is about 3 inches open. After assisting the opening by hand the drag when closing is so much that without assistance it triggers the resistance feature, reopening the door over and over. I tried this door because I figured you get what you pay for with the $60 doors, and at over $100 I hoped the quality would be better on this door. No such luck. This is a cheap piece of junk that will fail, leaving your birds trapped inside all day or worse yet, leaving them unprotected all night. ... show more

Bought three of them… at the time the reviews weren’t bad. Got all three installed and they lasted a couple of weeks. One by one the doors started having issues… one wouldn’t go up, one wouldn’t go down, one kept getting stuck, one wouldn’t open at all… now I have three duds. Tried contacting customer service multiple times. They kept asking for video or photos, which I sent- videos were impossible because they wanted a weird format, but they never actually got back to me with any resolutions to the problems. Absolutely a worthless piece of trash. From day one the door never worked properly. It would close then open immediately several times. When the door opens it continues to run for about a minute making a loud banging noise. It then closes and goes through this cycle again and again for several times before finally staying closed. It did this for a couple of days but was getting the job done. I had installed this automatic door because I was going out of town for a few days and didn’t have anyone to let my chickens out. While I was gone the door quit working and trapped my chickens in their coup until I returned. Thankfully I did put their automatic feeder and water inside the coup.
