  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Missing parts and insufficient springs
Color: White
The ladder, as designed, is ideal for what we need. However, the springs included in the shipment are woefully insufficient to keep the loft door from slamming down. We had to purchase additional springs and even a pneumatic shock. And to top it all off, the pull-down wand (shown in the product image) was not included. It's very difficult to even find one of those, so we had heavily improvise. The ladder is fine. Just know that (1) the springs will never be enough and you'll need to purchase supplemental springs/shocks, and (2) you may or may not get a wand. ... show more

  • 1.0 out of 5 stars Think it over before you place your order
Color: Blue
avoid this product, think it over before you place your order I bought this product because the entrance to my attic is 30in x 30 in and this product seemed to be a fit. However, after received it, I found it is not an attic ladder as it advertises. I still tried. After trying everyway for more than 2 weeks to install it including adding two strong springs, modifying my attic hatch, I still failed. In conclusion, this product CANNOT actually be used for an attic, as it has serious safety issues: (1) it is made of steel rather than aluminum, therefore is extremely heavy about 110 pounds (as in the seller’s info, but may be heavier, almost 30%-50% heavier than its peer products), no regular hatch door can support it. You need a steel hatch door and frame to contain it. But do you feel safe with a 100-pound steel ladder hanging above your head, which may slam to your head anytime? (2) its design has no support or attachment to the frame, leaving the entire weight to the hatch door, which is very unsafe. I added 4 heavy-duty hinges and two heavy-duty springs (each ~45 pound force) to connect and support the ladder to the frame, but still did not help, as the springs only work when the door is open and the ladder is stretched to is working length. After only 2 rounds of opening and closing the ladder, the entire setting was deformed due to the lader’s unusually heavy weight. (3) the designed angle of its steps seems problematic. When it is extended, the steps can never reach a level status. I tested it all the way to about 45 degrees but still in a slope angle so that your feet on the steps will be just on a slippery angle, risking twisting your ankles into the steps. Moreover, a house typically does not have so much space for an attic ladder to extend to a 45-degree range. (4) there is no instruction or manual for installation. You will have a hard time figuring out how to install it properly. I spent more than two weeks, but failed. If you google the internet, there is another seller selling exactly the same product at a price about $100-$120 lower and provides free return guarantee. Although this current seller had kindly matched the price, but they are unwilling to pay you the return shipping fee in case you want to return it. So you should really think it over before you place an order from this seller. In addition, I am adding few photos, illustrating why it is not safe. Photo F1: The steps are not level and remain an angle A. When the ladder is fully stretched or extended, the angle A will be even larger. A person standing on the ladder will be unable to rest his feet on the steps but will be on the edge, which is dangerous situation due to the defective design of the ladder Photo F2:To be used as an attic ladder, you have to add additional hinges. I put on 4 heavy-duty hinges to hold the ladder to the attach hatch, but the heavy duty hinges were deformed and tore due to the extreme heavy weight of the ladder. Keep using the ladder overhead thus will be very dangerous, which I am not willing to risk and I do not think the Seller can assume the responsibility Photos F3/F4/F5: To support the heavy weight of the ladder, extra spings are needed. I added a pair of heavy-duty springs each of aboutg 45 pounds of force, but still did not work well, because the design of ladder was not actually suitable for use as an attic ladder. The risk was not removed. In conclusion, this ladder is NOT a suitable product for use as a attic ladder as advertised. It is very dangerous. Therefore, I ask you, please send me the pre-paid label so I can return the product to you asap, and please refund me.. ... show more

  • 1.0 out of 5 stars Not an attic stairs!
Color: Blue
The photo shows this product being used as an attic stairs. This is not possible. The unit is 27 inches wide. The unit weighs 100 pounds. It can not be attached to a pull-down hinged attic door. This unit can only be mounted on a wall.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Just what we needed for our log cabin with a loft that was unreachable!
Color: White
I think this will be great, once we get it installed. Service was very timely. Since there were no instructions included, I'm just printing them out from this site, which is fine. Yes, it's heavy, but you want it to be sturdy, don't you? I will update my review when it is installed.

Color: Blue
I used this stair to access the loft area of my lake camp . Takes up less room and seems safer than the step ladder I was using . I wish they had installation instructions .

  • 3.0 out of 5 stars Not so easy to install & NO instructions
Color: Blue
The 1st easy step says ‘Detach the (heavy) ladder from the bracket.” Really? Where do you detach it? And why was it attached it in the 1st place? 2nd step: “Mount the bracket on the wall.” That’s it!?! What do I need to hold several hundred pounds on my wood wall, esp since all you provided is concrete sleeve anchors!? No instructions and not easy—am thinking about returning it. ... show more
