To look out for: Unlike other reviewers, I had no issues. I walked right into verizon, asked to add it as an additional device on my data plan and was out the door within 5 minutes. As of 6/9/2015, it was $20 a month for the sim card / data access. It works great, but the battery drains a little quicker than I would have expected when running off battery. Perhaps this is only true for areas of bad service, where I often am. All said, no complaints! the unit itself seems great. BUT Verizon is reluctant to offer a pay as you go plan. they really want to sell a monthly plan. that does not fit my needs. i travel alot and my home is in a very rural area with overpriced slow internet service. I was looking for a simple hotspot that i could use at will. i am not one that lives thru my devise - i can go days and even weeks without getting online. This is a wonderful option but you really have to fight with Verizon to not get roped into expensive monthly plan. I don't need mega gigs - just a few to check email, balance my bank account and make airline reservations. I don't stream and live on facebook or surf the net with any regularity. i have a problem paying for something i don't need or want. If you are looking to set up a monthly plan than this should work but if you want a flexible pay as you go plan, be ready to work for it. And also be aware that many retailers will only take cash for pay as you go plans - at least that is what i am finding in California. Right now i am fighting to get my 2 gigs - i walked into a Verizon store and paid my money, was told the jet pack would update in about 5 minutes and that was 6 days ago. still not updated. i have called the store but they can't help me over the phone. a bit frustrating since i need this to work over the holiday weekend to get my plane tickets. I recommend doing your research before buying one of these. Does Verizon offer a plan you are looking for? I am not happy but do plan to make some more calls and see if i can't get some kind of service that works. I did just pay $35 for time and have no access to those gigs. i gave this one star because there wasn't anything lower. this jetpack had a sims card in it which was found by investigation by walmart and verizon staffs to be dedicated to some school. the seller insisted that it was for personal use only, walmart staffs talked with verizon staffs who researched the number; seller was not satisfied and insisted I deal with verizon myself. i took the jetpack to a local verizon store, the staff there researched/investigated, and told me the same thing. they offered me a new SIMS card for an additional $10.00, and i did this in order to get some internet service i sorely needed for business and personal reasons. All this cost me a loss of important time and much trouble. i've now changed to a cable provider. Still want a refund. ... show more

The Jetpack is working perfectly! Fortunately I saved the old one I'd gotten from Verizon when I signed up for service. When I received this new Jetpack I immediately plugged it in to see if it would work. It powered up but a message appeared "No Simm Card." I took the back off the old Jetpack and saw a tab to lift in order to remove that Simm card. With a little effort it is not difficult to get the card out. I placed the card in my new Jetpack and "voila," it worked! Verizon wanted $80 for a new Jetpack plus I would have had to sign a new two year contract. They also told me if I bought a Jetpack elsewhere that it would cost me $20 to activate. So far, by changing the Simm card myself the Jetpack is working correctly without going to Verizon or signing a new contract. Thank you. ... show more

The device works great on a road trip and thanks to Verizon for the great coverage. Wifi distance works very well as it charges on one side of the wall while my laptop is at 10-15 ft away. I am not sure if purchased to own devices like this is already unlocked b/c it will be great for international travel. Nice gadget to have. The device likes any other wifi devices... it gets hot so do leave it in your pocket. Also... I noticed like the bluetooth devices this device gives me migraine when I am too close at. ... show more

I got this device to use with Google Fi data sim as I had read this worked online. I was unable to make this work. I guess the product MAY work using other sim, but I couldn't make it work for what I needed it to do.

Wow it's perfect. Brand new I just switched the sim card from my old dead one and put it in the new one and perfect I was back in business. Verizon wanted $99 for a new one and another 2 yr. contact.
