  • Long lasting battery with surprisingly fast performance
I bought this phone to replace my Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G NE as the battery was at 68% health. With no local Xiaomi repair shops to replace the battery, I thought buying a new phone would be the solution. Enter the Moto Edge 2024. I owned three prior Motorola phones so I was familiar with the brand. Mine is the unlocked version with 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage. Design/Phone quality: This phone is sleek, comfortable to hold, and with a nice curved pOLED screen. The eco-leather back provides a nice grip but the form factor is reminiscent of my old LG Velvet. Very impressive. It also has an IP 68 dust and water resistance rating. Performance: My 11 Lite had a SD 778 chip that has been a good mid-range processor for a while. The Moto Edge 2024 feels much faster. It's almost flagship speed. I think this is an upgrade for anyone using anything else than a flagship phone. I have only streamed gaming to this phone but it multitasks very well without any hiccups.. Aligning with flagship features, the USB-C Port is 3.1 and compatible with Display port 1.4. So, it has a great desktop mode that connects to an exterior monitor if you really want to get everything out of this phone. While the storage speed is 2.2, it still feels fast enough. Battery: This is why I upgraded the phone. I can get about 1.5 days on this battery. That said, I am a heavy user as I always keep the 5G running. I will update with just wi-fi daily usage as I'm sure that will increase battery life as well. I average about 10-11 hours of screen-on time each day with 25-30% remaining. This feels like an efficient use of the 5,000 mAh battery. Display: The display is probably the most underrated part of this phone. The pOLED running up to 144Hz is insane. It's also very bright and durable. Photos: Photos are fine. Given sufficient light, images should come out detailed. I haven't tried to shoot at night or in suboptimal situations less but it seems fine. Video: Video is fine but only offers 4K at 30 fps, and 1080p at up to 60 fps on the rear camera. The front camera doesn't offer 60 fps at any resolution but offers 4K. Still, smart stabilization is offered at both resolutions on both cameras. Value: I missed the best deal at $249 but bought it at $299. For this price, this is a phenomenal deal! While it is not an inexpensive phone, the build quality, display, performance, and battery are all hallmarks of a more expensive phone. This is a great upgrade from a recent budget phone that is gerting long in the tooth. If you're looking for something to feel fast without breaking the bank, the Moto Edge 2024 is it. ... show more

  • love this phone
I was hesitating between this 2024 edge and stylus. I chose edge for its light weight, metal frame, and wifi 6 support. Don't care much about 3.5mm audio and 256 G is enough for me no need extra sd card slot. pros and cons: 1. This phone design definitely beats most phones in the market, probably also because I'm a big fan of edge screen. I change my phones a lot, almost need a new one for each year since I'm a phone breaker.. galaxy 20 was my favorite phone and now I feel this moto is even better. It uses a super thin but decent camera which I really like, while all the other manufactures are competing performance by putting large and heavy cameras. It feels comfortable and firm to hold for its width, weight, curved design and the leather back. 2. the battery is insane. 3. the auto app update notifications is annoying. I removed some of the useless apps during setups and a day later it notifies me to install them back. There are so many apps that you won't use at all but I should not complain too much since Samsung and lots of other brand phones do the same thing. 4. Don't think too much about finding screen protectors cause it's not designed well for curved screen. I changed lots of protectors while using my S20 before, and finally gave up trying. No case either cause no case is better than the leather back. Which means it is very fragile. but the 2-year updates doesn't support a long-term use either. 5. The performance is OK. if you investigate in the snapdragon 7s gen2, you will find that it is actually just an update version of snapdragon 6 gen1. I won't recommend it if your a gamer or video editor. But for all other usages it is good enough. I have no problems opening lots of apps, never see a noticeable delay. plus the 4nm 7s is very energy efficient which also enhances the battery life. Overall, it's a great phone and I'm glad I got it from a good deal. ... show more

  • Very good quality phones for the money! Haven't had any significant problems with my edge 2024
These are really good phones. For the amount of money that you spend on some phones these have so many good features realistically more than anybody needs and at this price point they are wonderful phones and decent cameras. The battery life may not be as long as advertised but it still really good. These phones are a little bit on the heavy side but they have a great screen size a very comfortable touch screen and good sound quality. ... show more

  • Good mid budget phone
The phone transfered data/apps from samsung on it's own with ease and works well with spectrum mobile when provided a physical SIM. It seems pretty easy to use and most of the layout seems android rather than motorola-specific. The desktop projection is very nice and functional, so far I've only used the track pad which has limitations but I imagine with a bluetooth keyboard/mouse it will function similar to a PC. With a case the curved screen edges are not too noticable. The only odd thing I find about it so far is that the only option for messaging is through google messaging. For 300 dollars this seems like a good mid-level phone, I decided on motorola because other competitors only offer more extreme price points, either sub 200 dollar low end phones/specs, or over 500 dollars for their version of mid grade. At a 300 dollar price point for a new phone this is a great option. ... show more

  • My 5 year old phone was better at being a phone with less bloatware
350$ still a bit high for this Google ad delivering and monitoring object. It is once again loaded with software I will never use and spend hours trying to uninstall and figure out how to block form collecting data to sell, and constantly updating random apps when I am trying to do something like make a call or text. Phone has fast charging ability... but most chargers wont put out the wattage required and motorola did not put charger in with phone. The camera can take nice photos... sometimes. The low light ability is on par with my 5 year old budget phone. The focus is constantly fidgeting and can't stay locked without manually setting it, if you want to take video with this it will be hard to watch, as the video stutters when the camera try's to focus (which is constantly doing). This video also looks blurry and unstable if you are filming on the go. The exposure will also constantly blow out shots unless you are in a controlled environment with artificial lighting. I have people who cannot contact me through text unless I am on mobile data, never an issue before. Phone refuses to change certain settings. Basic simple settings are hidden so deep you have to search online to find out how to change them. This feels like a Google ad machine rather than a phone, they should pay me to carry it. Spent an hour trying to find out how they changed and hid the setting to turn of the left "swipe" so called google news feed.... If I wanted to be fed that junk I would turn on local tv or radio. I really wish I would have done more research before buying, I had good luck with my old motorola but this new one cost more and feels like half baked software. Good luck finding a screen protector that works. Navigation feels clunky and screen gets non responsive after a while. Hard to tell if you actually closed or just paused an app. Very few choices for ringtones... I mean they load this with so much bloatware they couldn't include a few more decent ringtones that don't sound like children's television show intros? and why do I have to load 2 different text notification sounds for two diff.... Don't care, tired of renting these devices that do not put customers and being useful ahead of making a profit off of cramming apps for cash onboard. Next phone will be a landline. ... show more

  • Better than I expected. Flagship-like performance for fraction of the price.
After owning this phone for 3 months, I'm very glad I bought this phone. Zero regrets. I would choose it again. Fast and snappy performance. Plenty of memory (RAM), nice fast processor, games play very smoothly. There's plenty of storage (256 GB), good long battery life, fast battery charging, wireless battery charging, fast and accurate fingerprint reader, which surprisingly never fails. This phone has been a big quality of life upgrade from my previous phone from Samsung. Downsides: (1) Doesn't have a slot for microSD card, which is unfortunate, but the onboard 256 GB of memory hasn't been filled up; (2) No wired headphone jack; (3) Photo quality isn't the best compared to other flagship phones (especially when zoomed all the way in, looks more digital and smeared compared to photos from other phones), but when zoomed out, looks sharp and nice; (4) Lack of Samsung apps (which I was used to), but I have to say the alternatives are more than satisfactory. I FAR prefer the free Edison mail app to the Samsung mail app, I am happy using Proton Calendar (the widget is outstanding), etc. The default Moto Contacts app was janky, so I switched to Fossify Contacts and that works great; (5) You get two major OS version updates, so that will be the bigger limitation down the line. Overall, in my day-to-day use of this phone, it is fast and snappy and functions the way I'd like a phone to function (despite the minor flaws listed). I would buy it again with no hesitation and expect it to last years. COMPARISON TO MOTO G STYLUS 2024: I also purchased the Moto G Stylus 2024 and was able to test both side-by-side and see how the two differ in practice. Both have similar features on paper in many areas, but the G Stylus 2024 has a stylus, headphone jack, MicroSD expansion port, etc. Synopsis: On paper, I thought the G Stylus 2024 would be better but in practice I prefer the Moto Edge 2024. Overall, the Moto Edge 2024 is faster and smoother for some reason. Despite the Moto G Stylus 2024 bonuses of having the headphone jack, Stylus and MicroSD expansion port (which are definitely bonuses), there are some strange quirks that aren't as nice as the Moto Edge 2024. The Moto Edge 2024 feels snappier overall. Games seems faster on the Moto Edge 2024. The fingerprint reader seems better on the Moto Edge 2024. There are random weird things on the Moto G Stylus like when you add widgets to the home screen on the Moto G Stylus, you have to hold your finger on the screen for like 3x longer than normal to get the "add widget" screen to come up. There are janky things like that that I noticed in different areas, giving me an overall feeling of "Meh" (compared to the more-pleasant Edge 2024). That said, if I didn't have the Edge 2024, I would still be perfectly happy using the Moto G Stylus 2024. Motorola may not have all the bells and whistles that other flagship phones have, but they get you in the flagship ballpark at a fraction of the cost and your day-to-day experience using the phone is a happy one. 5-stars! ... show more
