I have used this a couple times now and tried not to use anything else with it so I could truly see how well it held up. The only thing I used was a bit of my spiralicious gel by Jessicurl because in my head I always need to use a little of that (I used less than a dime size amount though). I don't use curl cream or leave in, since my hair will not form a cast and tends to lose its curls (I have fine, medium density, high porosity, 2b/2c & 3a curls). I'm still working on the amount to use, since it can easily be overdone (which I like because I prefer to use less product). I was a bit heavy handed with my first application because it felt light like a mousse, then I realized as it was drying there was quite a cast. This gel mousse provides a nice cast that I can easily scrunch out. If you apply to your hair soaking wet (I don't), then you may need to use a little more. I feel like with most products, it's trial and error with application and amount and it's very individualized! Don't let this gel mousse fool you, it packs a good hold punch :)

It’s a mousse gel! Very very light. I barely knew it was on my hair. It’s a medium hold product, and did define my 2B, porous, medium density gray curls well without weighing it down. For me, my shoulder length hair did not stay defined, but fell out into an undefined wave pattern in a few hours. I worked with it for a week, using different amounts of gel, trying to see if I was simply not using enough product. It refreshed with water spray on the next day beautifully. But didn’t stay held. I think this is specific to my hair and curl pattern, so I can’t knock the product. It’s kind of genius. And if your hair tends to go flat, this is so light, it should keep that from happening. I don’t handle fragrance well (asthma) but I did ok with this. It’s scented with a gender neutral grapefruit oil. I do not regret trying it at all.

I have 2b/2c curls. Hair strands are fine with lots of hair. I tried several curly/wavy methods with this product. Best results: wash, condition, leave in condition, curl cream, verb. I brush styled in the shower with a bounce curl brush after applying curl cream, and then used gentle prayer hands with scrunching to apply this product. I micro plopped with a microfiber towel, and then plopped for 20 minutes. After my hair dried I scrunched out light crunch with a few drops of hair oil and gently shook out my roots. I was left with gentle cascading waves. My hair looked healthy and moisturized, and the results lasted all day. I got several compliments on how shiny my hair looked. Two things I really like about this product is that it truly is a 2 in one. It comes out like a heavier mousse, has lots of slip, and is easy to apply evenly. Second is that it is the single best product I have added to actually allow my hair to air dry. Usually my wet hair weighs my curls down to almost non-existence and I have to diffuse, but somehow this keeps consistent waves formed throughout. I like that it does form a light cast, but it’s easy to scrunch out, and it leaves my hair wonderfully light. With a traditional curl cream, mousse, gel routine, I often find my hair weighed down on top. The curls are gorgeous but the volume is lacking. This product was also amazing for day 2 hair. It looked even better than day one curl wise, but I did have slightly more frizz which I think is unavoidable since I don’t do anything to preserve my style when I sleep. To refresh I lightly misted my hair with diluted curl cream and water, and used that same spray to dilute 3 pumps of the product. It revived my curls nicely. This product did not work well for diffusing. My loose curl pattern needs a product with more hold to prevent frizz and keep the curl pattern together. I also tried hover diffusing for only 5 minutes to help a cast form, but I felt this also created more frizz. Overall I think this product is amazing in that you can actually have a gorgeous smooth style from air drying. On days when I can’t be bothered to diffuse or am short on time I’ll use this, and I’ll continue using it for day 2 style refreshes. You might like to know: Styling freshly washed hair I use 12 pumps of product. 3 pumps for refresh. After styling for 3 washes and one refresh I do notice that I used just under a quarter of the bottle. I’d expect to go through one a month. This product also has a very light citrus scent, it fades quickly, is not over powering, and is pleasant overall.

I have fine, C1/2 curls that are easily weighed down, definitely need a bit of refreshing in the mornings to bring them out again. Wow! Although I have used mousse, regular and curling, to give my hair a bit of a lift in the past, I gave up since it seemed to do nothing for me. Until now! Wow again! This is a light as a feather formula that does not weigh down my hair. What it does do is gives me some body, helps to form my curls into lovely sausage-like ringlets, easily refreshes them again in the morning, leaves my hair soft and bouncy and does not look greasy, heavy, weighed down, or dull. Wow, wow, wow, wow ... I love it. No, I adore it. No, I do not want to ever live without it!

It seems to work ok, but I don't know if I got a fake. It arrived without a cap of any kind. I used it for the second time today and I had a bad allergic reaction on my face due to my wet hair touching it. The culprit is either this or my new leave in. Not sure. It doesn't seem to have a ton of hold, either. I'll try to remember to update if I can think of anything else or I figure out if this is a fake/have me a reaction.

I have struggled for years to find product(s) that work with my wavy/curly mop of multi-textured and multi-porosity dense hair. Finally - something that works! I tried the curly-girl method for the past five years, experiencing minimal success at calming frizz and having nice curl clumps. While my hair was looking better than it had, I still had mucho amounts of frizz on the canopy and at my crown. While I still have to focus on those areas, this is the first product I have used that more consistently tames my hair to get its act together and stop the anti-social frizz party that happens on my hair. Special bonus that it smells really nice, but not overpowering. I am super-sensitive to fragrances (especially flowery ones), and this one doesn’t cause my throat to constrict.
