  • Great budget tablet for students & beginners
Size: 10*6 inch Style: A30-New Version
Tl;dr: Amazing for the price, and even beyond that a very solid tablet for beginner or intermediate artists (with one small caveat on the driver, more on that below) Pros: -nice build, very light and thin without feeling flimsy. Good size, takes up the space of an 8.5x11 sheet of paper on your desk and the active area makes good use of this space without having huge borders that aren't part of the drawing area. Personally, I most enjoy using tablets in this size range, any smaller and I get pain in my wrist, though someone who’s not using to drawing on a tablet like this may not feel the same. -pen is light but solid, and battery less!! Best part of it. Reprogrammable pen buttons are great, and comes with several replacement nibs. A lot pens from tablets this price range tend to feel cheap and flimsy but this one has a good weight to it, though the shape is nothing to write home about. No eraser nib on the end, but that’s not a problem for me as I find it annoying to constantly flip my pen over to erase instead of just using a hotkey, might be an issue for some. -tablet surface is textured if you like that sort of thing, but it also came with a very nice screen cover with a more paper-like texture. The cover is held on mainly with one long adhesive strip and was much easier to lay on than other fully adhesive covers. I've used some comparable sized monoprice and huion tablets before and honestly preferred the feel of this pen + surface better, and I far prefer this sort of drawing surface as opposed to drawing on a high gloss screen like the ipad. The included glove is also great for the overall feel of drawing, though it runs small if you plan on using it. -huge plus for me is that the pen is responsive and the driver software lets you adjust the curve pressure of your pen presses, which is great and something you don't usually see with tablets in this price range. I usually go for a very light touch rather than having to press hard on the tablet and strain my wrist, and it was very amenable to that. Pressure sensitivity feels a little different than, say, a higher end tablet but after doodling a bit I quickly got used to it and found it very enjoyable. One thing is that the driver software is universal for all veikk tablets; I think this is a nice touch but some people may not love that. - Touch pad express keys on the left are nice; I tend not to use buttons directly on tablets and stick to using my keyboard but for people who do use it, they’re a nice addition, though it could be better demarcated since its a flat touch pad. -wire is usb c that locks into place very firmly, and the tablet also came with a usb c to usb adapter. I've used tablets that are literally 5x the price of this one that don't nail this simple thing and it's usually the first thing to break on them. The wire itself could be a little longer but it's still a perfectly adequate length. And the Cons… or rather one main Con: please note that this is not necessarily issues with the tablet itself, but rather a cautionary tale for anyone coming to this tablet to use with either previous wacom drivers installed or photoshop!! Adobe only officially supports wacom brand tablets, so this is an issue that a lot of people coming in with any other brand (veikk, huion, xp pen, etc) might have. This obviously isn’t a universal experience and I know many people who had clean installs of this tablet with no issues, but I wanted to mention this for anyone who might be having problems. -you REALLY need to uninstall any other tablet drivers before even attempting a clean install of this driver, wacom in particular does not play well with any other brand regardless and it will absolutely mess with this one, but Veikk is pretty upfront about this, and honestly this is just something that has to be done with pretty much any non-wacom tablet. -I read reviews that this worked perfectly with older versions of photoshop, but I spent many hour trouble shooting both 2020 and 2021 to get pressure sensitivity at all. However, 2019 CC worked just fine with it. If you're familiar with windows 10's windows ink issues, I had to go into “Local Disk (C:)/Users/(user name)/AppData (hidden file)/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop (year) /Adobe Photoshop (year) Settings”, create a text file called "PSUserConfig.txt" and type this in “# Photoshop Use WinTab Stylus 0 or use INK Stylus 1 UseSystemStylus 1”, either using a 1 or 0 depending on if you want to use wintab or windows ink. The old way seemed to not work anymore (not the first time I've had tablet driver issues lol) but once I did this it worked perfectly. I've heard that veikk support is aware and is working on updates for their driver, which is great! Because I'm very much into their driver app and enjoy being able to remap the tablet functions to suit my own needs; this is super valuable for people who use different hotkeys and functions from the touch pad in different programs. Things I would love to see from this brand in the future: tilt support!! Honestly this is a big ask, you don't normally see tilt support on tablets this price but I was so impressed with the A30 otherwise that I would love to see tilt support in the future. Also possibly a holder for the pen, but it does come with a fabric case that also does the job just fine. Final thoughts: I was super impressed with this lightweight budget tablet, I’ve used other tablets in this range that I just simply did not enjoy the feel of or wanted more control out of, and the A30 was able to deliver on that where more expensive tablets fell short. I would especially recommend this tablet for beginners or students on a budget; for the size and price you could do a lot worse. ... show more

  • Impressive medium sized portable tablet for newbies.
Size: 10*6 inch Style: A30-New Version
The media could not be loaded. Starting off with the packaging, the box that the A30 came in looks pretty decent, and I have seen other tablets come in shoddy-looking plain cardboard boxes with missing documentation, which is a plus for Veikk. After opening it, I found the A30 tablet packed snugly into the box along with all of its accessories. With tablets I like to work on the go, so in regards to portability, the A30 is designed to be sleek and lightweight while allowing plenty of active area for you to use. Even though the total active area is technically smaller than a typical piece of paper, the total size of the tablet is a couple of inches larger than that. Despite this, it fits perfectly in my bookbag without any problems. Of course, all of this won’t matter if you only plan to keep this at home or move it between rooms. This product finds a nice balance between looks and durability despite its thin size. I still wouldn't suggest sitting on it or tossing it around but I have dropped the tablet at least twice and it still works fine. Even though a glossy black is a neutral color, I would love to see more options for color for future tablets. The black color works against it when using it in a dark room. Also, there are no persistent lights on the tablet that help you locate the device, either. If the A30 had a larger light that was constantly on, it would be much easier to find it. The A30's pressure sensitivity levels are very competitive with other tablets and responds well to my pen strokes. I can definitely feel the difference in sensitivity when I switch between my older tablets and this one. I tested this tablet on both Windows and Macs with several programs like Clip Studio Paint, ZBrush, Photoshop, Illustrator and OSU! I have to say that it performs well. If you're buying this for OSU, I would actually suggest getting a smaller tablet instead so your arm doesn't have to move so much during gameplay. The tablet itself is very responsive and I never feel like I'm not in control of what I'm doing. I also like having a dedicated area for touch gestures. I know that some tablets incorporate gesture functions into their active drawing area, but having the gesture area use the same space as the drawing area frustrates me since I have a habit of dragging my drawing hand across the surface. The gesture touch area feels intuitive and I immediately see my actions represented on screen. It truly shines when I'm using it to rapidly change brush sizes in a program like Photoshop or Clip Studio paint. Unfortunately, the downside to these touch keys is that it is very hard to locate them without looking at the tablet without having physical buttons or if you are drawing in the dark which is very inconvenient. This problem is compounded when my fingers rest near the hotkeys near the left side. This causes a couple of accidental presses, but this comes from a habit that I picked up from having physical hotkeys. I'm sure this is something I'll get over in the future but this will definitely be weird for anybody used to pressing physical hotkeys. Despite this, the Touch keys and gesture touch area feel faster and quieter than having physical hotkeys. PROS --------------- +The A30's surface is very smooth, making it easier for your pen to glide across the tablet surface quietly. +The swiping of the gesture touch area for controlling brush sizes and settings feels very intuitive and quick. +The tablet pen doesn't need batteries. +The ability to plug the USB-C cord in either direction to the tablet lessens the chance of kinking your wires or putting the cords under unnecessary strain while drawing on your desk. +The A30's price makes it a very cheap and effective choice for beginners new to graphics tablets, or for those that want a size upgrade. +Compared to the competition, the price point is very competitive and is flat out cheaper than most leading drawing tablets. +The tablet and pen looks very sleek and stylish. +The driver has options to accommodate both left and right-handed users. CONS --------------- -If your hands tend to get really sweaty, it may become a little difficult to swipe the gesture touch pad area. -The pen rolls on your desk easily and it feels easy for me to lose track of it in the dark due to the smooth design. -The pen feels a little too light in my opinion since I have large hands. -I wish the A30 tablet had more colors to choose from. -The driver software feels a little bare-bones. CONCLUSION --------------- This tablet is a very good budget option for those that are into digital illustration, 3D sculpting, photo touch-ups, or playing OSU! The total size of the active drawing area is fairly generous. Even though the tablet’s appearance is fairly neutral and inoffensive, I still wish that Veikk had more unique color choices. Installation seems to be one of the most frustrating problems for new users, but can be remedied by ensuring that you have followed the instructions to the letter. However, these are small issues that can be overlooked. For those new to drawing tablets that need a dependable and low profile tablet, this is an excellent choice. ... show more

  • great tablet!
Size: 10*6 inch Style: A30-New Version
This review comes from someone who hasn't used a pen tablet in about 2-3 years and switched over to an iPad. I had issues with my old tablet's 4"x6" active area which was the root cause of my build up of problems with using it. I gave it away and thought I could never return to pen tablets, especially for how expensive they were. Then this tablet came along and I figured, $60 for a tablet? Why not. And I wasn't at all disappointed! The Veikk A30 is a dream to work with. The pen glides across the surface easily, and I was absolutely impressed (and in love) with how the 10"x6" active area fully mirrored my entire monitor--no more backtracking on the active area to get from point A to point B! It's also very comfortable to have the pen in your hand, I didn't get any hand cramps or wrist pains using this tablet for four hours straight. It doesn't have an eraser on the other end, which doesn't bother me in the slightest but I can see why that might be a con for someone else. The touch pad hotkeys are responsive and light up when you touch them. Once you get the hang of where they are you can generally use them without looking, but sometimes I found myself glancing down when I needed to undo a stroke or flip my canvas. I didn't find this as annoying as I expected it might be, but I imagine if you're coming from button keys to a touch pad this might take getting used to. I enjoyed the swiping features of the directional pad, it was a fun alternative to the typical wheel you find on other tablets and felt less like it could go out of control. However, this is also where my one big con comes into play: I wish the hotkey marks were a little more visible. Aesthetically it looks beautiful the way it is, but the translucent marks have my glances downwards take longer as I search for the key indicators. It's just an extra half second, but it was a little jarring when I was in a groove and I'd lost my hand placement; sometimes when I didn't feel like looking I would just use the pen and cursor to click on what I needed instead of using the hotkeys. Hotkey set-up is easy-peasy. It only took me a while because when I was trying to select Clip Studio from the program list I clicked a different program that showed up with a folder icon and was trying to figure out why my hotkeys weren't working. Tip: make sure the correct program icon shows up when you're setting up hotkeys for specific programs! Don't be me! The pen buttons aren't programmable so you'll have to change the settings in your program to match those, but it's not a big deal. Things included in the box are an artist glove (a comfortably tight fit on my medium-large hand), extra nibs, a nib remover, and adaptors for I believe Macbooks and Android devices. Pretty cool! I've read reviews from others about a squeaking that happens while drawing but I didn't experience this at all, so your mileage may vary I guess. There was a sound but it was a normal quiet scratching sound I would expect from plastic on plastic that I hardly noticed. PROS: - Absurdly good price for a solid tablet - Easy to use/draw with - Simple set-up - Responsive - Large active area - Programmable hotkeys per program - Provided extra nibs and nib remover (which came in a little bag which I'm taping to the bottom of my tablet) CONS: - Hotkey marks are a little hard to see - Pen has no eraser on the other end (if that matters to you) Another con unrelated to the performance of the tablet: when the tablet is shipped, it's shipped in the box it's packaged in. Products come like that sometimes, but for an item like a pen tablet I'd be worried about it being stolen if you live somewhere where a package would be left out in the open. A note regarding set-up for CSP users: When I tested this with Clip Studio Paint I discovered that you need to go into File -> Preferences -> Tablet and select "Wintab" in order for this tablet to work. Just a heads up for fellow CSP users! ... show more

  • Great entry point for beginners!
Size: 10*6 inch Style: A30-New Version
I've been a digital artist that's been using tablets of different types for about 18 years now and it's actually become my fulltime job for the last 11 of those years. That being said, I have quite a bit of experience with tablets however, I will mentioned that my experience with this tablet is entirely related to digital illustration so my review with this device will solely be related to that area of use as opposed to use for games/ect. I feel like finding more affordable equipment is important since art should never have an unreasonable entry point, a view I wish other brands such as Wacom would take to heart. Viek has yet to disappoint me and have consistently offered great quality for the price. I always take my time when giving my thoughts on these types of products because I find it very important to really put the time in with them before I can really give my full and honest input. Now, I am not a very tech-savy person so my perspective is that of your average Jane/artist that goes for comfort and "feel" and something I really like about this tablet is it's sleek and smooth surface. A lot of newer brands and tablets seem to be going for a simulated paper texture and if that's something you enjoy, by all means! As someone who started back in 2003 with a Wacom Graphire 3 (which was $200 in 2003, btw!), that sleek surface is something I started with and have a strong preference for. In my opinion, it gives me a sense of flow and control when my pen can just gently glide across the surface of the tablet. Another thing I appreciated a lot was how easy to use this tablet was; The installation process was easy and programming functions for the buttons was also a breeze! I did have a few driver issues at first, but they were solved by uninstalling my Wacom tablet drivers; I assume there were some conflicts going on, but once I did that it was very smooth sailing! If you purchase this tablet, PLEASE be sure to uninstall any other tablet drivers and that should solve issues. I do consider this a con though as I am very picky about my driver settings and I don't especially like having to uninstall and reinstall drivers if I want to use a different tablet on the same device. I actually did notice something interesting about the software as well; If you've ever owned a Wacom, you'll definitely relate to the "Tablet Driver has stopped functioning" dilemma and it's the worst when you're in the middle of working on a piece! In the few months I have been using the Veikk, it has not once given me this error and that alone is a big thumbs up from me! As I mentioned above, I am not tech-savy so I'm not entirely sure what 8000 levels of pressure means on paper, however when I was using the tablet to draw it was always very responsive and felt very smooth to work with. I was able to get some really nice work from brushes in various programs using different degrees of pressure; It especially paired nice with ClipStudio however it didn't feel quite as responsive in Paint Tool Sai. I would say take that with a grain of salt though, as Paint Tool Sai itself is a pretty old program these days. The only downside to this tablet I discovered was that it's not quite great when it comes to detecting the tilt of the pen, which is a minor complaint as I only need this function for a few brushes I use in different programs! Overall, I really enjoyed working with this tablet and my complaints are very far and few between; I would absolutely recommend this tablet for anyone fresh or just starting their journey into the world of digital art. For the price, the quality is unbeatable and even if you're a veteran, this compact tablet is great to take with if you're going out for a bit. Definitely worth trying out for the features and how responsive the pen feels; it's a great bargain and I wish Veikk was around when I started all those years ago! ... show more

  • Good and durable graphic tablet, good for beginners and veterans
Size: 10*6 inch Style: A30-New Version
(Image: drawing I made using the Veikk A30 and Paint Tool sai) I think the Veikk A30 would be a very dependable and worthy purchase for it’s price range. It came to me at a nice time, about 2 days after I ordered it. Something I really appreciated because I didn’t have to pine after it at all! I didn’t even pay for special shipping, it was very convenient for me. The A30 is able to be used for both left and right handed people! That’s something I found really cool is how inclusive they are about that. It’s got the Type C USB cord for your computer just that allows for this, and a little indent that helps protect the cord from being damaged. The tablet has 8192 Levels of Pen pressure, with a drawing space of 10x6 inch working area. The actual dimensions of the A30 are 13 by 8 inches! But it’s also lightweight and not too bulky or anything. I really like how I feel I could take this around easily just as I would my Huion Inspiron. The tablet has working capability with a wide variety of programs, including krita, painttool sai, And Fire alpaca! The A30 feels so oddly futuristic to me, because while it has 4 customizable hotkeys, are tappable, and it also comes with a little touchpad. They’re a little difficult to see, though, but I like them fine! The fact they’re touchscreen is just so interesting to me and I really appreciate it! It’s an interesting detail I’ve never had with any other tablet. I also like how the design for the A30 has this little hole thing that protects your cable from bending in odd ways and wearing it down. Another thing is I love the pen design for this one! It’s so sleek and professional looking. Very nice pen on the A30, no complaints. The pen is battery and charge free, allowing you to draw forever until your hand falls off. I also appreciated that because I already had the driver for the Veikk A15, I could plug in the Veikk A30 and it automatically adapted and set itself accordingly. I really appreciated that because it saved a lot of time and I was able to just get right into drawing. However, if you have a driver for another brand or another tablet, it’s important to uninstall that driver before installing the new driver because it’ll mess up your computer and functionality of the tablet. Just a general rule of thumb for whenever you get a new tablet of any kind! Now for how it performs! Disclaimer that all critiques I made are not dealbreakers, just minor inconveniences I had to deal with as no product is perfect. With the Veikk A30 I hardly notice the squeakiness that a new tablet usually has. Like it’s slightly there, but not nearly as noticeable. The tablet has a very nice response rate, I think the one for the A30 is like 250 RPS?? And the wide pressure sensitivity is very consistent, which makes it easier for having consistent line weight within the drawing! It works well with each program I’ve used it for so far, being Paint tool sai, krita, And Fire alpaca. It’s genuinely a good quality tablet that I think is a professional home hitter! A lot of companies like selling tablets nowadays, and I know Wacom and Huion are kind of the go to companies when people think of getting a tablet. But I think Veikk may genuinely be the next home hitter! High quality for such a low price? Heck yeah! Having such a large drawing space is super nice and again; almost feels like a steal for it being such a decent tablet. It’s perfect for coloring and lineart and I just love drawing with this tablet! It doesn’t respond to my hand and I love how the texture of it feels when drawing. It is very nice. I think that I might prefer the A30 to any previous tablet I’ve owned. It comes off as incredibly sturdy and dependable in quality. I don’t find a need for two many hotkeys, so I feel like using the A30 with it’s 4 hotkeys is a little less intimidating for me and I like it a lot better. It all depends on your own preferences though, and specific personal aesthetics and qualities you value in a tablet! I know tons of artists who really value having a lot of hotkeys but if you only use a few, this one might be a better fit for you. Do I recommend the Veikk A30? Yes. I really appreciate Veikk as a company in the sense of how quality their tablets are. I very much like. I think that the Veikk A30 would be a very good starter tablet for any artists who are trying to get their foot in the door about starting digital art! I look forward to experimenting more with the A30, and creating more content. With it. Thank you for listening to my review! ... show more

  • A pretty decent drawing tablet
Size: 10*6 inch Style: A30-New Version
I've been using this tablet for the past like three or two months, and I'd say it's pretty alright, the touch screen is really good compared to my older tablet, but I keep on having this problem with the pen, the tip of it keeps on falling off and I have to keep on putting it again; This has been a problem ever since I bought this tablet, I mean sure, it comes with extra tips and some other external features, but I still get the same problem with the pen. The first impression I got from this product after using it for a while was "Alright, I'm gonna have to deal with this". Update: They have sent me a new pen and it works flawlessly! • Easy to use first graphics tablet
Size: 10*6 inch Style: A30-New Version
I've never used a graphics tablet before, so I'm a little out of my depth, but this thing is easy to use, and very easy to configure. I'm using it with a multi-monitor windows 11 desktop, and it took only a few minutes to program the buttons like I like and match the input up to my largest monitor. Also, apparently I have a lot of artistic left-handed friends (who knew!) and it only takes about five seconds to turn on left-handed mode and flip the tablet so their hands aren't resting on the touch options on the side-panel. Really surprised at how natural this feels! Thought there would be a big learning curve, but no. I just feels like drawing on paper. Con: Only thing I don't like so far is that the buttons on the stylus are exactly where I like to grip the thing, and accidentally touching them messes up your current stroke even if they are deprogrammed. ... show more
