This awning is awesome. Very well made. It is easy enough for one person to put up and take down, obviously it would be best with two people. This awning withstood 30+ mph gusts of wind in the high desert off of 395. I used two sacks filled with rocks to keep the poles supported. (Bought them on amazon.) Love the way the poles twist to lock, usually this style hates me, but these are really great and easy. The material is a good solid strength rip-stop. Glad I bought it, nice price too.

I bought the Samout to replace a broken Yakima awning. I just about lost my mind when I saw how much Yakima wants for their garbage awning. 600 bucks?! No thanks. When I got this awning, it bolted right up to my Yakima rack with no issues. We took it out for a maiden 4 day camping trip. First thing I noticed is the poles and twist locks are 100 times nicer than Yakima’s. Easy to lock and unlock. The fabric of the awning is almost identical to the Yakima brand. The real difference is where this awning really shines. The support poles have thick inserts. Much thicker than the Yakima inserts. The Yakima inserts bent after only a couple times out and were difficult to bend back properly. The guy lines are sturdy and the package comes with all you need to tie it down firmly. It also packs 100 times easier than the Yakima version. The case is larger and therefore makes it much easier to wind the awning in and zip up. Yakima made it so tight, if you didn’t wind the awning up just perfectly, you had to pray you didn’t break the zippers trying to close the whole thing up. There are also three Velcro holders inside the case as opposed to only two with Yakima. All around, the price point and quality of this awning absolutely DESTROYS the ridiculously priced name brand. It’s a no-brainer.

I really do love this canopy. I have used it twice in the past week. The second time I tried to set it up alone on a windy beach and needless to say I was struggling and someone came over and helped me. The only true compliment I had was with the mounting system, it didn’t work with my roof cargo carrier so I had to purchase other brackets to make it work. But it’s up there now and I love it. I have even taken it through the car wash with no issues.

This awning is super easy to put on yourself. I took me about 30 to 40 minutes to install. Also the quality and weather resistance seems to be of great material so I'm pleased about that. Now for the reasons for why I'm knocking off a star. 1) the L bars that are supposed to connect to your racks, at least in my case, they were a little short, but it still worked out just feels like the extra inch or two would have been better. 2) the poles to set up the awning do not stay in place when I'm trying to put it away. Which is fine since I'll be with my fiance most of the time anyways therefore I'm not too worried about not putting back away. But for those solo campers, I'd say itll get annoying pretty quick trying to put it back away by yourself. (It can be put away by itself though). All in all for the price I'm really happy with it, and do recommend it.

arrived quick, was pretty stright forward to install with the instructions, hardware is simple, just assemble the rack then adjust it for your rack or rails, then mount. its rock solid with the right setup, super easy to deploy takes about 3-5 mins, i use the absolute crap out of this awning, camping, fishing, BBQ's, rodeos, and the canvas material is thick enough it shouldn't get destroyed by stuff falling on it.

So far, so good. The awning was simple to attach to our luggage rack cross bars. We took the cross bars off the van, measured and drilled the holes for the brackets, attatched the brackets and then put them back on the van. We then slid the bolts onto the tract and slid them through the brackets and adjusted placement, tightened the bolts and done. We have yet to pull the awning out and set it up, sobwe can't attest to simplicity there yet. I will come back and update when we do that in a coupIe weeks when we are boondocking.

Oh yeah got my Jeep awning today from my favorite shopping app Amazon baby… I just want to say that it was easy to install and easy to put up. Everything was in the package and that’s a A+ because all the other Jeep parts I have ordered they all had missing washers or screws lol but not this Awning… Great seller and I will be sure to recommend to my Jeep wrangler Friends. Great Shade cover and I can’t wait to take in out in the woods for our camping trip 2025.. Samout all the way
