So if you or your buddy have read a diagnostic code on your automotive scan tool and think you’re done, you couldn’t be more wrong. Mechanics have to trace and diagnose what the root cause of an issue is. A scan tool is just pointing you in the general direction. Without proper diagnoses to get to the actual problem, many home mechanics waste time and money just removing and replacing parts only hoping to fix the problem. I have used several tools in the past to do this such as a multimeter, test lights and other made for this project gadgets ti get the job done. I have seen power probe tools in the past but often they were expensive or limited in application which kept me from getting one. I bought and tried this tool and I’m very happy with it. The kit comes in a storage box which is helpful to keep it all together. The kit seems to be well built with good solid connectors that look like they’ll work for more than a few uses. The probe itself has built in led lights facing the tip which come in handy in those dark spaces (often nighttime use and under the dash while twisted like a pretzel). The operating buttons are easy to get to. The TFT display is bright and clear, easy to read. There is also a speaker to give you tones to tell you what’s going on, in case stuff drops in your eyes (always happens). You have two options to connect to the battery in your vehicle which is a must. You have the standard large clips or a cigarette lighter plug. The cord for the probe itself is plenty long, but if you’re connected to the battery of your rig and need to get to the back or your trailer there is an additional 20ft extension cord in the box. Also in the kit which is rare in these days is an instruction manual to explain how to use the multiple functions. It is actually very good, easy to read in English and has several figures/diagrams for those who are sometimes challenged like myself. I have used the tool on a few different project vehicles around the house. I found it to be super helpful with making sure I have continuity, powering circuits after rewiring a rats nest, and finding broken connections in harnesses. I am very happy that I bought this kit, it will save me time and the amount of tools that I have to lug around when working on jobs. VDIAGTOOL V200 Pro Automotive Power Circuit Probe Tester I recently purchased the VDIAGTOOL V200 Pro Automotive Power Circuit Probe Tester, and it exceeded my expectations. This tester is a must-have, if you're like me, and cringe when you walk into the mechanic's shop. This tool is specifically designed for automotive electrical diagnostics and proved to be a valuable addition to my toolkit. The test modes are selected by pressing the red button on the circuit tester. (Voltage testing DC, AC, Resistance and Diode) The toggle switch, on the power cord, selects between the multi tester and the wire tracing breaker tester. The center position turns off the Multi tester unit. One of the standout features of the VDIAGTOOL V200 Pro is its ability to accurately detect open and short circuits in 12V and 24V electrical systems. You can inject positive, or negative battery voltage, into circuits. This capability proved to be extremely useful when troubleshooting complex wiring issues in vehicles. The tool's wire tracing functionality also helped me identify and locate specific wires with ease. The AC and DC voltage testing capabilities of this tool are also worth mentioning. You can check the ripple of your alternator. It also displays the max and min voltages, along with the frequency of the ripple. It accurately measures voltage levels, allowing for quick and reliable diagnosis of electrical problems. Additionally, the VDIAGTOOL V200 Pro can be used to test trailer relays and fuses, making it a versatile tool for automotive technicians. It can also test resistance in the circuit and even test diodes. The build quality of the VDIAGTOOL V200 Pro is solid. It feels sturdy and durable, ensuring that it can withstand the demands of regular use in a workshop environment. It also has a (Built-In) auto reset circuit breaker for overload protection. The ergonomic design and intuitive interface make it easy to operate, even for those new to automotive diagnostics. One aspect that could be improved is the user manual. While it provides basic instructions, a more comprehensive guide would be beneficial, especially for users who are not familiar with automotive electrical diagnostics. Terminals) 6) Multi function testing and wire tracing 7) Great customer service Cons: 1)Instruction manual, not very informative To sum things up, I really enjoyed using this diagnostic tool. The VDIAGTOOL V200 Pro Automotive Power Circuit Probe Tester is a reliable and efficient tool for diagnosing electrical issues in vehicles. Its open and short circuit detection, wire tracing, and voltage testing capabilities make it a valuable asset for automotive technicians, or DIYers.
