  • An excellent tool for diagnosing electical issues at a great price! An excellent tool for diagnosing electical issues at a great price!
This probe will allow you to easily test automobile, RV, boat, and trailer wiring. It is packed with features that allow the probe to test voltage, resistance, and perform signal tracing. You will be able to energize electical parts like lamps and relays with the probe. The tool comes packed in a nice padded case that holds the probe, probe tip, breaker test probe, cigarette lighter adapter, a 20 foot extension cable, and battery terminal clamps. I first learned to operate the tool by performing some simple tests. Connecting the probe to the vehicle's power source is easy. You can connect right at the battery using the included clamps or with the lighter plug. By placing the the probe into Mode I, it can measure the battery voltage by pressing the rocker switch forward where the digital display will then display the positive voltage. Pressing the red button will scroll through the tool's feature set - DC voltage, AC voltage/frequency, resistance, and diode testing. I measured the resistance of my old VW's ignition coil with the probe (you can see the measurement in one of my photos). This is a useful feature for measuring resitance of relay coils, carb thermostats, and idle solenoids. When you push the rocker switch forward, the probe tip is connected to positive battery voltage. You can use this feature to power and test bulbs, relays, and solenoids before you install them into the vehicle (or check them while they are in place). The probe tip can pierce wiring insulation to allow testing without disconnecting wires. I especially appreciated the inclusion of a 20 foot power extension cable that will allow you to move the probe to far reaches of the vehicle. There is no need to make power connections at another part of the vehicle. There is a signal tracing feature when the tool is placed into Mode II. This will allow a signal from the probe to be placed onto a wire and you can then use the breaker probe to move along the suspected wire. A tone is heard from the tester as you move along the wire and will cease when you reach the breakpoint. I used this feature to finally locate the reason the rear lift gate on my Ford Escape would not raise with the foot activation. I found a break in the sensor wire right as it entered a multi-wire connector. I was able to solder a wire around the connector to get the liftgate to work once again. The probe paid for itself on just that one job. A dealership repair would have cost hundreds of dollars. The instruction manual is a bit hard to understand, but there are several excellent Youtube videos that review this tool and show how it can be used. If you compare this tool to the PowerProbe 3 or 4, you will see it works very similar but at a much reduced price. I really like this tool and look forward to finding other uses for it. ... show more

  • How did I do without this tool for so long? This is a game changer!
I am a serious DIY automotive enthusiast. I am also an electronics engineer. I purchased the Vdiagtool V200 Pro to assist me with a vexing electrical problem. I bought the V200 Pro after watching a YouTube video and anxiously awaited receiving it. I was impressed with the obvious build quality. The wires are well insulated and flexible. It feels great in the hand. I have a 2010 Ford F150 with a 5.4L V8. I had it parked in my back yard and rodents got into the engine compartment and chewed up some of the wiring. It also had a problem with the AC clutch compressor being inoperable. The engine ran poorly with multiple misses and engine light came on and could not be reset. I used a code scanner to determine three of the injectors were not working. The wiring goes from the injector into a harness that disappears into a loom. I placed the V200 into AC mode and started the car. I then went to the injector connector and touched the terminals of the injector…. nothing. I then used a small terminal to connect the red wire of the probe to the injector and set it to signal trace mode. I grounded the black wire. I then ran the signal tracer over the wiring harness while listening to the “warble.” It took less than 60 seconds to trace the harness to the point where the signal stopped. It was buried inside a complicated and loaded harness. Closer inspection showed there were visual indications of the wire chewed in two pieces on the bottom of the harness by those pesky rats. I would have had great difficulty finding it with another method. I was able to repair the harness by cutting the loom and soldering the wires back together. I then found two other wires the same way. The engine was now running great! No misfires and the injectors all working! I then began to play with the V200 in its normal voltage measuring function. The engine was running and I noticed that the voltage of the battery was 12.2 VDC instead of the expected 14.4 volts. Those pesky rats were at it again. With the help of the V200 I quickly located the wire to the field terminal of the alternator. It was chewed at the connector. A quick repair and all is well. Having such a good day I decided to look at the nonfunctional AC compressor. I pulled the AC relay under the hood. Using the V200, I probed the coil terminal and determined it was not being actuated when the AC was turned on. I then moved to the relay output and used the V200 to simulate the relay operation by injecting battery voltage into the output terminal. The compressor clutch immediately engaged. The problem was evident. The compressor was prevented from operating because it was so low on refrigerant that the low-pressure sensor prevented it from turning on. In this vehicle, you cannot add refrigerant without the compressor running. I used the V200 to activate the compressor, and I added R134. In a couple of minutes, I was ready to go and was able to replace the relay, which then operated on its own. The bottom line is that I very much like the V200 Pro. It is a great tool. Well made and very versatile. It made a tedious task easy and saved me much time and effort. It is a well-made tool and has earned a top spot in my toolbox. It will easily perform almost any electrical diagnostics on an automobile. It will not replace my Fluke multimeter for critical measurements, but that is not its purpose. This makes troubleshooting wiring for almost any automotive circuit. Taillights to wipers, blowers to power windows, relays to seat controls. This is now my go-to favorite! I have oscilloscopes and meters of all types, but nothing works better for me when working on automotive wiring. I plan to buy another for my son for Christmas. ... show more

  • Quality tester, accurate, with many features!! Quality tester, accurate, with many features!!
When I was made aware of this tester, I wanted it yesterday. I ordered it on March 1st and it came on March 6th, which is really fast. Usually it takes 2 weeks to reach Hawaii. I have around 26 testers and just a handful is shown in one of these pictures. I still have my first tester which I made with a metal rod, light bulb, wire, and an alligator clip. These testers have sure come a long way since 1975 when I lst began working on cars. I have a Auto mechanics college degree and owned 170 cars since driving. Now days cars have a lot of electrical circuits and this tester is vital to have and own along with a good scanner, and a smoke detector for the EVAP system. I got this Vdiag Pro 200 tester and just by coincedence my neighbor's cars had starting and electrical issues. One I found a bad ground, one was a dying battery, one had a faulty starter, and my own truck had an exposed hot wire has you can see in one of the pictures. I was actually looking to see the tool in tight spaces like between the radiator support and grill when I saw this exposed wire. I tested it with this tool and it was hot. Using the tester I pushed the button and it lit up my auxillary fog lights. The tester fit well with my hand holding it inbetween the grill and radiator support.. The accuracy is really good as I have tripled checked it with other name brand testers you will recognize in the photos. I have a boat, riding mower, motorcycles, and 5 cars that I have tried this tester on. The quality of the tools is very good. The connectors are tight and the probing needle fits snugly. The fit is really good so while taking the wire from the front of the car to the back of the boat trailer, you can count on the connector holding and not coming apart like a extension cord usually does and you have to make a over under knott. Everything this company claims this tester can do is true. I even showed this to my mechanic friends and they were impressed. All of us use the P Probe and my P Probe III is in one of the photos. I have the P Probe from I to III and have no regrets. Now that I have this Vdiag Pro 200, it will be my go to tool. Before I had to carry a wire tracer seperately and was either the telephone one you see in the picture or my landscaping one for tracing sprinkler wires to trace my truck, car, and boat wiring. Now I have the best of both worlds in one easy to carry and store plastic case. I really have nothing bad to say. The screen is easy to see in bright sunlight, enough wire to reach from the front of the tow vehicle to the rear of the boat trailer. Built with quality materials, easy to use. The most important thing is it is highly accurate as you can see in one of the photos the other two tester I compared it with. Do not hesitate to buy this tester! Your life will be more enjoyable when working on electrical circuits especially if you work on cars, boats, motorcycles, your kids powerwheels, and even your home. Just make sure you turn off the power to your home when tracing your outlet to your fuse box. Not made to test live 120v or 240v AC home circuits. Only DC voltage from 12 to 24 volts DC. You will not be disappointed, I have been using this tester for a week now and it is accurate which is the most important feature for me and it is half the cost of other testers with more features. This tester is made for 12v DC to 24v DC so you can even test some of your power tool batteries that is within range. ... show more

  • High quality. Nice power probe and graphing multimeter
The V200 Pro is an excellent tool to have for vehicle diagnostics. The power probe is great for applying power to activate components. It gets power from the vehicle's battery you are working on. This is the only knock I have against the V200 because you have no choice to use it on it's own or if the battery is dead, but this is also true for much more expensive power probe tools. One positive note about this is no chance of corroded batteries inside to destroy the tool which will make the tool last a much longer time and no need to charge or replace batteries. The r134a was low on a car's ac system I was working on and the compressor would not run. With the V200, I was easily able to apply power to the compressor and confirm the compressor is working. Also, using the V200's power probe to activate the compressor allows the refrigerant to quickly enter the system until there is enough pressure to run the compressor on it's own. Also using the power probe, you can bypass relays in the fuse box to activate components. The wire tracer is a handy tool to trace wire runs and test for short circuits. The door ajar warning light would not turn off on a vehicle I was working on. I figured it was either the wire to the door ajar sensor may have been broken somewhere or the sensor needed replacing. I was able to use the V200 wire tracer tool to confirm the wiring was good. The sensor was replaced and the problem was fixed. The VDIAGTOOL V200 is a high quality tool that will pay for itself the first time you use it to diagnose expensive repairs. The graphing portion of the multimeter gives much easier to read data than a normal multimeter. The fuel pump was suspected bad on a vehicle I was working on. I wasn't convinced that the pump was receiving the signal from the computer. The signal was supposed to be a duty cycle of 50% but without a graphing multimeter such as the V200, I was unable to confirm the signal. I gambled and replaced the fuel pump and it worked, but if I had this tool at the time, diagnostics would have been a breeze and potentially could have prevented unnecessarily replacing of parts. For anyone who is interested in vehicle diagnostics and repair, I highly recommend the VDIAGTOOL V200 PRO along with a good quality bidirectional scantool, such as the XTOOL D7 or D8 as recommended by Scotty Kilmer. ... show more

  • Incredibly Multifunctional Electronic System Diagnostic Tool
As a DIY mechanic, this tool was an amazing upgrade to the digital volt meter (DVM) I have used over the years to diagnose electrical problems. While VDIAGTOOL V200 Pro incorporates many functions of a DVM, the first thing is you never have to worry about dead or corroded batteries as it uses the power source from the vehicle it is diagnosing. In moving from a DVM to the V200 Pro, it requires some additional instruction and precautions to eliminate damage to circuits you're testing. For instance, unlike a DVM, the V200 Pro has the capability to power a circuit in order to check relays, bulbs, fuses, etc and you need to understand wiring schematics and characteristics before applying voltage to modern car circuitry. There is a nice concise manual included with the V200 Pro that gets things started and there are multiple online videos that can teach you more on the real-world operation of the tool. There are competitors in the marketplace and while many of their features are similar, the VDIAGTOOL V200 Pro is an unbeatable value for its price. Some of the other things it is capable of doing is testing relays, fuses, resistors, ohms, continuity, and something that is very helpful is the "circuit breaker finder" that is included in the kit. To note; the circuit probe runs off the vehicle's battery/power, the circuit breaker finder is shipped with and requires one, long-lasting 9V battery. While I have not had any broken circuits to repair since I purchased the V200 Pro, I tested the circuit breaker finder and found it to be quite helpful finding a circuit within a wiring loom. My test was on the headlight of my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I used the circuit breaker finder to track the wiring from the fuse box all the way to the headlight. This was beneficial as the main wiring loom breaks down into several smaller looms around and behind parts and structural pieces. The circuit breaker finder made it easy to trace all the way to the headlight. There is a volume control on the circuit breaker finder to help squelch "noise" from competing sources. The VDIAGTOOL V200 Pro comes with an approximately 16' long cable that easily reaches most vehicle's battery, and if you're servicing a big RV or trailer of any kind, it comes with an extension that is about 16' feet in length that should take of 99% of diagnostic situations you'll find yourself with. In addition to alligator type clips for the battery, there is a cigarette lighter plug that can be used for power as well which add to your accessibility. Overall, the VDIAGTOOL V200 Pro is a very capable electrical diagnostic tool and is rated for systems ranging from 12V to 24V. Each time I use the tool, I continue to learn more about it and with it's capable of. Having the VDIAGTOOL V200 Pro in your toolbox will set you up with the equipment and technology to handle most vehicle electrical challenges you might face. ... show more

  • Very useful tool to have for vehicle electrical diagnostics and priced decently.
Works about as well as my Powerprobe, but the buzzer function on this guy is strange as it doesn't give you the long beep when you are on battery voltage, it kinda just lets out a quick garbled chirp. This is a great tool for the home mechanic though and it is priced very reasonably you just need to pay attention to the screen and not the sound which can be aggravating in some situations or mine just came defective. ... show more

  • Vdiagtool V200 Pro, Useful tool for power circuits and component powering See Caution; Vdiagtool V200 Pro, Useful tool for power circuits and component powering See Caution;
The Vdiagtool V200 PRO is a useful tools for testing power and ground wiring and component energizing. The long leads help to test the relationship to Battery positive and ground. It is able to connect a component to 12 volts+ or ground or both. It can display AC or pulsed DC graphically. It can be useful for solenoids, fuel pumps, Evap pumps, window motors, door locks, lights, trailer lights and brake controllers and the power/ground wires that support them. It could also be used for 12 volt solar battery chargers. It seems to be well made and is short circuit proof. It resets from a short instantly. It includes a signal tracer and a signal source 1-1.2 Kilohertz square wave 8 volts peak to peak. In come cases this might be useful for finding open wires or shorts. The display looks something like a mini oscilloscope but it is significantly different. There is no setting the time base, triggering, and scale. It is done automatically or fixed. That is convenient but you are limited. An oscilloscope usually has a higher impedance and is more sensitive. The display is good for power circuits and things like pulse width modulation. The diode and ohm testers function the same. The diode test does not display forward voltage. There is not much resolution in the low end. Why would you buy it? You would if you need to see the relationship between battery + and ground for components and the associated wiring. In addition if you need to get under the car or to a long trailer to test components and wiring. Cautions; The tester is not high impedance. It will put a small load on what ever you test. If you try to test sensor outputs/inputs to/from the ECU (computer) the reading will not be valid and you may generate error codes that will not reset without drive cycles. You could also damage the ECU if you are not careful. You really need to have and understand the wiring diagrams. You need to know what it is you are probing. For instance; A heated oxygen sensor has wires to the heater which I might probe with the V200. The signal wires would need to be tested with a high impedance meter or scope. You really need to know what you apply +12v power or ground to so that you don’t do damage. I would not connect the “Circuit Breaker Finder to a computer module. Edit; After seeing an other customers review You can use the "Circuit Breaker Finder" with only the red wire connected. I think that makes it safe for testing anywhere. Disclaimer these are my opinions only, not professional advice. I am just saying how I would use the tool based on my testing. ... show more
